I played around with the game for roughly the same amount of time and completely agree. I can see this being an okay-ish mmo if it had been built for pc and console with proper controls instead of this touch screen bullcrap. But when the most effective way to go about "playing" the game is on auto pilot to compensate for the dreadful interface, you're not actually playing. Which defeats the purpose of a game.
You know you can play on a tablet using a gamepad, right? I literally do that and I don't have any problem with mobile games (the ones without microtransaction bs)
This game crushed me. The trailers looked absolutely amazing. Then I saw gameplay footage, and it looked more primitive than a 2004 MMORPG. Worst part for me is the mess of a User Interface the game has, and what I like to call screen vomit. It takes the worst elements of Genshin Impact and cranks it to 11, without the FUN gameplay and exploration that Genshin has to offer. Reminds me Ragnarok Online Origin Mobile, which was just as much a disappointment.
This is really a let down. Not just because it's yet another busywork disposable mobile game, but because all this beautiful art, world design and development time could have gone into a real Ni No Kuni game. Even if they just wanted to do an action RPG spin-off, just put it in Switch/PS4/Xbox and give us a decent 15~20 hour side game. That would have been fine with me
@TheBoltMaster I was more implying that I didn't want a F2P or live service game at all, I would rather the dev effort just went into another single player experience
The best mobile games only have auto play for redundant, repetitive, grindy content, and let you play through the interesting content. Though I've also seen games where combat is auto play and the game play centers around army management such as training, gearing, resource management, and team building. The ones that have a lot of depth for those latter mechanics can be pretty decent if you're into those more administrative type games.
I trust your judgement on things like this, and I think it's a shame that they did this to Ni No Kuni, but I can't say I'm surprised. I liked both the main line games, but Wrath of the White Witch is the one that does it for me. The story, art direction, music, everything, and even the battle system and the Familiars oozed charm. I did like the second title too, but it felt like an attempt to take the IP mainstream and fully open up the game's demographic. So, in my mind, a mobile game, as much as I don't even like the idea of it, felt like the next logical step, especially with the direction parts of the gaming industry seem to be heading. Part of me is kind of hoping this is just to regenerate interest and to build funds for a third main title, but even if that's the case, I have some serious doubts about what they would do for a third main line entry. Great video as usual. I didn't know anything except for the game's existence, so I was kind of interested and very curious, but not at all now after your review. Thanks for the review and all your other videos. Keep them coming, and I'll keep watching them
If that were the case - them drumming interest for a third game - then okay cool, I would give them that. Overall, I don't love it, maybe it could serve as a time filler or something.
I Greed part of what he Said but i would Said story Still good . The part that you cant find any thing not Trut . You can ne break pot and Crate to fond coin and There chest outdide you cant open.
Im really afraid of the future of video games, mobile games dont seem to want to improve themselves nor it seems that mobile games are going to die anytime soon either
I agree. I was excited for this year release of video games. The first couple of months were great. Now it’s nothing. The games that are released seem like copy paste from another one. Gaming was my only hobby and I was obsessed with it. Now I can’t find anything to pull me in like older games did. I am back to playing final fantasy tactics. I hate mobile games as well. The controls are never good. It’s just not the same.
Try Punishing: Gray Raven. It's basically a Souls game in a Nier setting with the combat system being a combination of Dmc and Nier. Even though it had a rough global lunch, with the Chinese version being worse, it had become one of the best mobile games in China through the dedication of the fan base and the devs actually listening to their audience.
Completely misunderstood the assignment there huh. It's an IDLE mmo rpg, and again, you completely missed the fact the controls are changeable to manual, semi or auto.
"Played" it for about 2 hours (1 on my tablet, one on the PC). And I use quotation marks because I didn't really do much, the manual combat is so bad that it's actually easier to use auto-combat. The only reason to play the game might be the story, but there's no way I'm wasting my time on this "game" just to see it. But you know what's even worse? They're also releasing a Seven Deadly Sins game that's supposed to be like Genshin Impact...after seeing this though? Yeah, all my excitement vanished.
I was hoping this Ni Nu Kuni would be like Genshin Impact. I have been playing for a year. I still love the ga me and king in frequently. I hope the Improve Ni Nu Kuni. It would be such a waste of good IP
As someone who’s been playing for a few days (30+level swordsmen) I absolutely agree. I’m someone who’s coming off from genshin impact and compared they are NIGHT AND DAY. No no Kunis combat is a mind snoozer. Also COMBAT POWER. It reminded me of al those bad moblie game adds and I disliked it. Also also, why must my quests be locked behind my CP?? If I want to continue the story, WHY MUST I NAVIGATE THROUGH ALL THE MENUS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE HECK I NEED TO DO????
You can't compare it to Genshin Impact to begins with... This is an MMORPG while Genshin Impact plays like a Hack and slash Adventure Game like Zelda. If you want to compare this to other games similar to this then you can compare this to Dragon Nest Mobile
I agree with everything you said. I started on IOS, then moved to PC where the controls are better. It is possible to click the quest button to turn off the auto-questing and do it yourself. I tried this a couple of times, but there's little incentive to explore, so it quickly became tedious just trying to find the quest-giver in a sea of other NPCs and players. I think you can likewise turn off auto-battling, but the auto-battle AI is so much faster than me that it didn't make much sense to do so. About the only thing I did do was to sit there for literally 30-45 minutes at the end of my play session collecting rewards. You get rewards for everything you (don't) do, and then you get rewards for getting those rewards, and rewards for that too. It takes forever to get through it all. I may give it another chance to see if it gets better somehow, but I kind of doubt it. They've definitely captured the flavor of the previous two games in the world, characters, and music, but that seems to be about all it has going for it.
You're doing the lord's work. I was avoiding this purely because it *is* a mobile game and I have really low expectations for mobile games in general. Ni No Kuni completely revitalized my enthusiasm for RPGs; I hope an actual successor/sequel/related work gets put out some day.
It's so tiring to hear complains about the auto-questing. A) it's a really GOOD feature for accessibility. Not all human beings have the ability to use both their hands like every other person, can you stop being so selfish and consider for a hot second that some people actuall benefit from it ? B) It's totally optional and playing yourself is both more efficient and required at higher level. C) It's really good for when you are doing something else and just want to progress with your farm without having to focus on the game. I'm open to criticism but this game is taking a LOT of crap for the wrong reasons when there's other problems that are never adressed like the fact that the game has about 5 different battle passes and an absurd amount of microtransactions. Also reviewing a game after 60 minutes of gameplay is just absurd, sorry but it's just absurd. You can't judge a game in 60 minutes.
They said it's like the new genshin impact mobile competitor and in ghibli style too it got me supppeer hyped and for what?? 😭 I really dislike the autopilot option tbh
In the setting there is manual option is also given if u want to move your character manualy instead auto , also for camera in bottom left auto , free and fixed option is there . Seems like after playing 1 hr u learners nothing.
I'm glad I actually played to lvl 45 before watching your video, or I'd have skipped this great game. This is such a great semi-casual game, perfect for people who aren't looking to spend half of their days in a game but still get to enjoy the contents and community. What I find funny is how most people who quitted the game found it fair to devalue the game even before unlocking half the contents. You'll actually be thankful that you aren't forced to manually press your skills on every cooldowns while trying to position yourself correctly for the bosses' mechanics(yes, they exist). I played many mmos, including hardcore ones like WoW, Diablo 2-3, Lost ark, and several more. Got to say this game hit the sweet spot for me, allowing me to live my actual life and still get a relaxing escape from it when I want to. The only downside to this game is the p2w bundles they shove in your face everytime your progress advance. They make players so tempted to overspend their budget. Is the game p2w? Yes, very much so. It's very easy for whales to progress in the game, buy dupes with cash, and so on.
Agreed. I'm having a great time with this game. Playing only an hr of it isn't enough to make a review of it. It's quite laughable to be honest. There's so many options to actually turn off all the auto so, if people wanted to, it could be played like a normal game. I find it funny how people complain about the auto when almost all mobile games are going to have an auto function. And yes the p2w bundles do get annoying at times lol
Yep they completely misunderstood auto play feature without playing until at least lvl 40. They just played 1 to 2 hours and assumes it is just another play itself mobile game. They really didn't have enough patience and desire to fully understand mechanics of this game. Guess it's a test for people if they actually worthy to enjoy this great game or not. Edit: I'm f2p btw and I can fully enjoy this game nonetheless 👍.
I think people in Europe and North America are biased against mobile games because they don't realize that most of the world can't afford a console or PC that cost twice as much where they live and wages are a quarter of what they are used to. There are far more 'mobile gamers' than snobby elitest gamers though due to the sheer accessibility. Poor people deserve to play the best IPs too. Nobody praises games for auto features for how thankful people with disabilities are that they exist.
You played the game as Howl!!! Great choice. I wish there were more Studio Ghibli games because they characters are so likeable and the worlds are pure eye candy.
I have absolutely loved the Ni No Kuni franchise for years and was so excited to play this. Playing the game though feels so underwhelming. Character models, story beats and music is just completely and shamelessly ripped from the previous games. To make it even worse, I found out that the game has play to earn crypto and the developers are going to add NFT functionality later this year. For my favorite franchise to turn into a greedy gacha crypto mobile game is a horrible letdown.
Thank you thank you thank you, once again an honest play through of a game that shows us what the game is all about before we spend time on it. That said, I may still download it, just because I’ve been such of fan of the series, and am interested in the story they are going to tell.
Im sorry but 1 hr of playing isnt going to make a good review of the game. Yes, do try it for yourself. It really is a great mobile game. Or check out more reviews by people who have put much more time into it.
@@solrok9773 1 hour is enough to know this game is bad. I've played the game myself, and all that he said was true. It is a terrible game in all respects.
You can turn off the auto play. There are hidden quest like looking for secret box to help improve your cp and also vista's. You can't find them in quest menu.
You need to play it for longer. There are vistas in each area to get a bit of lore on the locales. And there are chests in areas to find. There are superbosses etc but it isn't like it differs from any Jrpg in history imo. I do get what you mean about the controls. My fat thumbs struggle on my mobile but I have spent £3.50 so far and I am having fun
@@russybcool dude youre just in copium because you spend money on it. its never a good reason that you need to invest a loooooong hours in a game just to get a good content.. a game should be good from start to finish. thats why we play games to entertain not to do chores
I can't even play because every time except one, the touch doesn't work properly. I click on the right side of the screen and the touch recognises on the left side so I can't click to start the game. It's not my screen because everything else works fine and can't play on PC because I need to link the account on mobile first
I Played a week, Reach 360k CP & 57 Level F2P, just need to be smart manage resource u can get. 50 > when u fight boss main mission/Dungeon its hard to auto fight. me as a person who love to try Mobile MMO this is the best one in mobile so far. if u don't see those bundle, cuz almost MOBILE MMO way more weak than this game. last but not least, kinda bummer when u reach level 50 > u will stuck in PAYWALL. and also Terrarite gonna be Crypto if u don't know. Ur impression not really clear all the feature aspect too rush buddy :(
I love the photos of you dressed up in thumb nails .. it's like let's be a super boss man while we play cartoon games. Love it. Thanks for the review... I also love the ad for this video was for crossroads.
Oh God. CrisTales - What a steaming pile that was. Talk about a complete and total letdown. You go in thinking you're getting the quality of Chrono Trigger but instead you get the dreadful Chrono Cross. Ugh.
@@MarioMasterProductions no, they marketed themselves as the next Chrono Trigger. If they put that out there then they need to live up to that expectation. And they failed miserably.
I have to agree with every point, Crossworlds is a huge disappointment for me Ni No Kuni is one of my favourite IPs but they've paired it with the most typical, low effort mobile MMO mechanics It genuinely feels like netmarble built an autoplay MMO and just slapped a Ni No Kuni skin over the top
I think you are just oblivious that most people in the world do not own a PC or video game console, but they do own a mobile phone. Poor people deserve to play video games too.
I haven't liked any of the ARPGs on mobile. I dont like having my fingers obscure the screen. In turn based you can remove them so its not as intrusive. But with an ARPG it covers where enemies are hiding etc. I might feel different if I used an controller that plugged into the phone or one of the controllers that your phone plugs into.
My time is so limited that I'd rather spend it playing something new, or replaying a classic. I loved NNK 1/2 and its a bummer to see them go the mobile route, but oh well. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity with this one.
Do u have any recommendation that is better than this? Ive tried GI in PS but i dont really like the concept of leveling gacha character for mmos like this. I love gacha games but not on mmorpgs. The only game tbat i really like was iruna when it was in its prime time
U can turn of all these auto battling and auto navigation and stuff. U can also make it so the movement pad don't move. It's a bit hard at the beginning but with the right settings the game is really fun especially when I open the field bosses and stuff
Total coincidence, but I just started the remaster of Ni No Kuni on PS4. Loving the vibe of the game as it really feels like you're playing a Ghibli movie. Looks like I'll stick with the first game rather than pick this up. Great video!
The auto is great for times where you really don't care to play the game... like doing daily's are mindless questing, which is apparent to all MMO. But there is content that you don't want to auto through, like dungeons, world bosses, field bosses, PVP, Kingdom battles and defense and such. You don't think people in Genshin would want an auto function for the daily quests? Or artifact grinding? Also about the control. It is on PC. I have mine set so it auto uses the basic attack, but i decide when to use my abilities. I heard they are adding controller support soon.
I wish we could have a proper third game- -one that either brings back towns/locations from the first game, or at least explains why they're not featured in the sequel. I loved the second game, but there were so many unanswered questions about the lore surrounding the world. To me, the sign of a good fictional world is when the player wants to learn everything they can about it, and this series definitely has one.
I could see the way the second game's plot was completely different from the first as similar to how Ghibli makes movies. They do not make sequels. Each story is a world on it's own, and everything starts and ends in that story.
@@emmausgamer I'm not really sure that's the case in NNK2, since Oliver's adventure is directly referenced during the Kingmaker trials, and King Tom's statues are still in the Ding Dong/Old Well.
I think this game would be better if you could toggle the automation on or off. I kind of like automatically heading toward the quest locations so I can level up my equipment and familiars while traveling, but you can’t turn off the automated battle system despite having the buttons to actively participate in the fight. That’s my biggest flaw with the game.
To turn off the automatic combat in Cross Worlds, you'll need to hit the tiny swords button on the right of the Familiars bar at the bottom. You can click through options like semi-automatic, fully automatic, and off. To actually, totally, turn it off though, you need to hold the button down
I really agree with you that mobile games are just throwaway entertainment for the most part. I was never gonna play this but was interested due to the brand, and this video was pretty much everything I wanted to know. Another awesome vid, David
I can't get over how so many mobile games use default, word-processor lookin' fonts. It's such a huge dealbreaker for me - just screams that no passion or care went into this game.
Hello David, I found this video while having played a couple of hours of Cross Worlds, and you hit the nail on the head for the autoplay and janky controls. The game also suffers from bad mobile MMO 'features' like multiple gatcha systems for familiars, gear & costumes and endless menu navigation. As a mobile gamer, I would think that developers would strive for better game design on the platform, but it is sadly not the case here (for me). This release was a big disappointment and will be deleted from my device. Thanks for pointing out this glaring issue on this anticipated game.
Hey shin, I just would like you to know that none of the Gacha systems in the game actually carry any weight in CP gain etc, yes you can pull those high tier weapons for Diamonds but those Diamonds are quite rare there is plenty of quests to get multiple different tickets to pull on both the Familiar and the Equipment Gacha, the things that essentially cancel out these systems carrying any weight is the Crafting system you can pull 1-4 star weapons and equipment out of them, you can also farm in chaos field for 3 star weapons, as I said in previous comments the game doesn't actually run specifically on auto and it actually can lead to your downfall in most cases with that being said the only aspects of the game that are able to be done completely with auto is Story and the Dailies, all online content such as PvP and the Field and World bosses as well as The power up quests etc cannot be done strictly on auto because you will loss, I recommend actually playing the game yourself rather than letting someone decide for you with only an hour of gameplay that is not at all enough in a game like this.
Such a shame! I adored the 1st game and the 2nd game was good but didn't quit capture the same magic. When I 1st saw the trailer for cross worlds my heart jumped. The art style was back and the great composer Joe Hisaishi! My elation quickly faded when I saw for mobile only. I give you credit David I didn't even last an hour before I deleted the game. Who wants to play a fetch quest simulator that plays itself anyways? Oh well....
Well, personally I think it looks really compitent to me. Games that play itself while watching TV or going to the restroom can actually be helpful. If only I had a better tablet, I could go and download that game for myself and see why.
I mean the way i chose to look at the auto... It auto through the parts that i really do not care to pay attnetion to. Like the dailies. You think i want to play the same boring daily quests in Genshin over and over again?
@@unstablepenguin2384 well, the difference is ni no Kuni is all about repeating most of the things like any MMO, but genshin impact only lets you repeat when you reach the end game and have nothing to do.
I platinumed Ni No Kuni on PS3 and even added to the familiar wiki 💅🏽 YOURE WELCOME. That alchemy trophy on the one specific dragon that spawned etc at the end took me 8 hours
I'm so glad I woke up to see this video. I had been curious and thought about trying it myself since I was a big fan of the series. You confirmed what I was expecting though. Much appreciated!
WASD is your friend. If you link the account, it is much better with keyboard controls. There is also a play to earn mechanic on the Marble X blockchain. I found the questing to be designed fairly well, with each developing supporting characters, building the world, a playable tutorial in disguise, or a combination of all three. The voice acting was also well done with excellent music and the design to use Cluu as a way to express the player's thoughts while using the concept of being in a virtual reality game to break the fourth wall and challenge conventional video game cliches in a cute and charming way was superb.
Auto game feature designed to make grinding less frustrating. If you invest in this game and managed to play until in to the late game, new late game contents difficulty spikes and demand manual control like regular MMO. People might misunderstand point of the auto play feature when first time playing because I misunderstood it too. I guess type and genre of this game is not for everyone.
Yap, that's what 85% of the mobile mmos/online rpgs are. A limitless grinding stream of "quests" that are autoplayed, and a lot of cash whale users. That's why I wouldn't bother if even my favorite franchise was "brought" to mobile. And after almost 10 years this trend has no signs of stopping
If you know what you're getting into, I find it's a good game still. But I'd agree that an official NNK3 single player experience would be better. Coming off the heels of NNK2, I have to say this thing is a massive asset flip. The Broadleaf employee models still have their emerald keycard lanyards on them still.
I like people to review mobile games that actually play mobile games. You always get a better perspective from somebody that actually knows how to use a touch screen.
Hi, David have you tried the prequel to one hundred heroes? I played it Eiyuden Chronicle Rising. I like the game but there is way to many side quest. Finished it in 20 hours and I did do most of the side quest for 14.99 I think its a great game.
Late game the game changes , game basically starts after lvl 40 I agree with all you said but like I mentioned after lvl 40 everything opens raids etc and there 50 man raids which you can't auto or wipe
The classic, "It gets fun after XX amount of hours of the worst gameplay you've experienced in your life." The sad part is that I believe you on that one. When you can't go auto- that's how they get people to pay the money. After you've invested so much time in the game and have a time-sunk cost deciding not to let it go.
Well, at least Ni No Kuni 3 is in development, and has been for a while ( 3 years exactly). Hopefully we get some news on it sometime soon, and maybe a release date for next year.
I laughed when you told us about changing to manual controls and fighting the ultimate boss. I was like, "that's a weird way of sending you to fight a super boss." Then you said ot was the controls and I giggled. Love your content David! You are super cool, personable, and likeable! Not to mention knowledgeable about the games you talk about! Keep it up!
I think the people who dont enjoy this are the people that are trying to speed through the game. The dialogue. The garden Chest exploration butterfly taming vase breaking is all side stuff you can do. And taking the auto off really helps from square 1. When i played the asian version everyone was chilling in the towns and using the wall feature and stuff. But here noone seems to appreciate any of the detail
I was so hype for this because I love ni no kuni, I don't understand the point in autoplay in a game like this. I would have maybe let it slide if they had controller support
@@tsuyax6054 the ni no kuni series was an adventure RPG, they could have done much better. The control setup it has for when you're actually playing the game would be perfect for a controller, it isn't really an excuse tbh. Lots of mobile games have controller support
dang, right when I saw that combat I knew that was a "nope" from me. A shame cuz I still love the art style and character designs. But that user interface, gameplay, and being on mobile are all huge detractors.
i genuinely do like it but its not what i had expected, i def struggled with fighting and gave up, i wanna be higher level tho so i keep it in the background
Few things I noticed that do not make any sense to me. First: Why in the world are you clicking the left thumb stick with the mouse pointer when you can use WASD on the keyboard? (Not sure if you are playing with the official PC client). Second: You can turn off pretty much all the auto skills and trigger them manually. The only thing that is annoying is that once you click on a quest auto pathing is triggered.
a game that plays its own quests, thats effing perfect! i can let it play in the background 😂😂😂😂 EDIT: I have played the game after watching this review. As a casual player with no bias against the company practices, I want to testify a few things in this game. 1. The quests indeed, play themselves. But you're still involved with the brainwork of upgrading your tools, stats, pets, and deciding which place you should grind per day. At the time I'm playing, the interface isn't so bad. (But I'm using AOV as my worst experience comparison lmao) 2. Their item prices and packages fail to convince me to buy it. If even a casual player doesn't feel tempted, I think it can be improved. 3. Speaking of which, their item drops and gacha rates are terrible even for noobs (usually mobas have this luck boosted til u reach a certain level) 4. You can't grind for the premium currency. Even if you can, you'll expect weeks time until your savings are even worth a weapon/pet to spend it on... 5. They have a login queue that gets cramped up during busy hours. Literally could spend 20 minutes eating a taco or going to the bathroom. aaand I'll add as they go. Tldr, you're better off playing Genshin.
My review for this game: Pros: -Have a good gibli graphic -Good storyline Cons: -Too many server but still have to wait in waiting list to enter the server. -Relying on CP system -All hail auto, i played 3 days and got bored easily.
I think mobile games are a lost cause. I'm old and remember when old execs and even journalists were toutung how "mobile games were the future" and would "render consols irrelevant." Oh...how wrong they were.
Never play any Ni no Kuni series, but played many mobile game including mmorpg, and i fully agree with you. Even in mobile game standard, this game is barely hit average in term of quality and inovation.
With mobile games like this who would have guessed genshin with its immersive world story and exploration would get so big. For mobile and ppl still complains
Though I expect that most mobile games won't show a trailer for such events like E3. But if they do to such titles like Ni No Kuni, they might recreate BlizzCon 2018.
U must remember. Its developer is netmarble, 1 week feel.like heaven for f2p. After that? Huge gap f2p p2w. Every aspec good in the game, music gameplay grafic etc. If you like total wholesome. Ni no kuni 2 is your answer.
David, I always love your videos and streams, though I am much more mobile-friendly than you are. I thought about playing this game, but I probably won't now. It is hard for me to deny a Witch class, though
I personally loved this game. All the auto quest stuff and auto battling is optional. You can turn it all off. The auto quest does go by itself and u do have to turn it off. I think that could have been better but I don't mind just clicking to turn it off rq. I don't understand what everyone's mad about tbh. The combat is definitely difficult. There's no tracking stuff ya. I was worried at first but I got the hang of it and was able to fight pretty well. The regular basic attack is flawed though. Not letting u move while shooting is defiitely a let down but it's certainly not a game ruiner for me. Overall great story and fun social aspect. Great auto option for the younger audience as well.
We all have busy lives and can't always play long games.. Mobile RPGs probably shouldn't be designed like console experiences, but designing a game that you turn on and set aside while it does everything for you kinda misses the point.
Ugh, thank you for suffering for us! I heard “Ni No Kuni 2” was better now that they made a higher difficulty level, I loved the first game, should I give part 2 a second chance?

Great video as usual. I didn't know anything except for the game's existence, so I was kind of interested and very curious, but not at all now after your review.
Thanks for the review and all your other videos. Keep them coming, and I'll keep watching them
his judgment is trash lmao. He's complaining about mobile controls when there's literally a pc port he did zero research.
Yep, it's a definite pass for me. There's also apparently going to be some NFT's for this game in the future. Kind of a bummer. x_x
Yikes!! I can't wait for NFTs to go the way of the Dodo
False . You earn crypto for playing and will be able to use that crypto on their other games.
Way to spread false info dude
@@ethun6563 "According to a content roadmap, NetMarble plans to add NFT functionality to Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds by “Q4 2022.”"
Is this false info?
@@ethun6563 ohhhh can't argue with that huh?
Im really afraid of the future of video games, mobile games dont seem to want to improve themselves nor it seems that mobile games are going to die anytime soon either
Mobile games peaked at Puzzles & Dragons and Cut The Rope, the best mobile games since are just also on mobile
It’s just not the same.
yeah true the true best video games always pc and console games
@@gamer2101 i hate mobile games control too
Try Punishing: Gray Raven.
Mobile, where game franchises go to die.
Genshin impact spoiled me so much that any game that isn’t on par with genshin quality i immediately drop them just like ninokuni
Quests are not cp locked, they're merely the recommended cp to do the quest.
You did it all, completely agree.
I really dislike the autopilot option tbh
How could you pass up playing as the beefy himbo destroyer to play that twink swordsman? We are very different types of gays David, heh.
They massacred my beloved game series
I have absolutely loved the Ni No Kuni franchise for years and was so excited to play this. Playing the game though feels so underwhelming. Character models, story beats and music is just completely and shamelessly ripped from the previous games.
To make it even worse, I found out that the game has play to earn crypto and the developers are going to add NFT functionality later this year. For my favorite franchise to turn into a greedy gacha crypto mobile game is a horrible letdown.
yea looks like a hard smash, they should have just made it a pc mmo or something. Not a mobile gacha
Lesson learned: *No matter what it comes from mobile mmo's ARE SHIT*
You can turn off the auto play. There are hidden quest like looking for secret box to help improve your cp and also vista's. You can't find them in quest menu.
I was excited for this game, but I'll stick to Ni No Kuni 2 on the Ps4 and wait for other worthy mobiles
Ps. You can disable all the auto options and I find that it is better that way
@@russybcool dude youre just in copium because you spend money on it.
its never a good reason that you need to invest a loooooong hours in a game just to get a good content.. a game should be good from start to finish. thats why we play games to entertain not to do chores
Playing the first ni no Kuni on switch now and really enjoying the gameplay. It hasn’t aged a lot and is still fun!
I can't even play because every time except one, the touch doesn't work properly. I click on the right side of the screen and the touch recognises on the left side so I can't click to start the game. It's not my screen because everything else works fine and can't play on PC because I need to link the account on mobile first

And thank God. You took the bullet for us on CrisTales and you took the bullet here too.
CrisTales was not that bad
Oh God. CrisTales - What a steaming pile that was. Talk about a complete and total letdown. You go in thinking you're getting the quality of Chrono Trigger but instead you get the dreadful Chrono Cross. Ugh.
@@davidvinc isn't that kind of an unfair comparison?
CrisTales was a steaming pile of load time! And I couldn't get past that.
@@MarioMasterProductions no, they marketed themselves as the next Chrono Trigger. If they put that out there then they need to live up to that expectation. And they failed miserably.
I have to agree with every point, Crossworlds is a huge disappointment for me
Ni No Kuni is one of my favourite IPs but they've paired it with the most typical, low effort mobile MMO mechanics
It genuinely feels like netmarble built an autoplay MMO and just slapped a Ni No Kuni skin over the top
Quite literally what they did
I think you are just oblivious that most people in the world do not own a PC or video game console, but they do own a mobile phone.
You don't have to obscure the screen in this game, because you basically don't even play it. The game plays by itself! 😂
Art is still beautiful. Shame it's wasted on a vapid cash-grab.
I heard they are adding controller support soon.
love the idea of "i played it so you don't have to", thanks for saving me some time.
@Kevin S I agree!
ah so david is officially howlcore (who isn’t)
Is it bluetooth mobile controller enabled?
I think this game would be better if you could toggle the automation on or off. I kind of like automatically heading toward the quest locations so I can level up my equipment and familiars while traveling, but you can’t turn off the automated battle system despite having the buttons to actively participate in the fight. That’s my biggest flaw with the game.
To turn off the automatic combat in Cross Worlds, you'll need to hit the tiny swords button on the right of the Familiars bar at the bottom. You can click through options like semi-automatic, fully automatic, and off. To actually, totally, turn it off though, you need to hold the button down
@@danielelbow thanks, it’s kind of scummy to make it so convoluted, but at least the options there
@@Natedog15000 yeah i agree 😕
You can turn auto off but I hate that it's on from the beginning
These auto system haters just can't accept that thats the way how MMMORPG in mobile works. Without auto system, its a nightmare.
It doesn't have pro controller support?
If you know what you're getting into, I find it's a good game still. But I'd agree that an official NNK3 single player experience would be better.
Coming off the heels of NNK2, I have to say this thing is a massive asset flip. The Broadleaf employee models still have their emerald keycard lanyards on them still.
I like people to review mobile games that actually play mobile games. You always get a better perspective from somebody that actually knows how to use a touch screen.
Most players are on PC though.
a shame to see this series going out like this, I´m currently playing the first game and it´s so charming and fun I´d love to see more of this series
Hi, David have you tried the prequel to one hundred heroes? I played it Eiyuden Chronicle Rising. I like the game but there is way to many side quest. Finished it in 20 hours and I did do most of the side quest for 14.99 I think its a great game.
Mobile "style" even if on PC equals INSTANT pass from me.
Late game the game changes , game basically starts after lvl 40 I agree with all you said but like I mentioned after lvl 40 everything opens raids etc and there 50 man raids which you can't auto or wipe
The classic, "It gets fun after XX amount of hours of the worst gameplay you've experienced in your life."
The sad part is that I believe you on that one.
Its a mobile mmorpg game. What do you expect? LMAO. If you want to play manual controls go play an actual MMORPG in PC.
@@tsuyax6054 the ni no kuni series was an adventure RPG, they could have done much better. The control setup it has for when you're actually playing the game would be perfect for a controller, it isn't really an excuse tbh. Lots of mobile games have controller support
The concept is that you are the star in your own animated show, so if you want to sit back and watch it, you can.
Hey wait, when did you almost hit 50k? That’s great!
Aw man, and I was excited when the trailer for this came out. Nice review tho David.
Awesome review man! Very informative. I was afraid they would tarnish the Ni No Kuni brand with this one....smh. Corpporate Greed strikes again 😮💨
dang, right when I saw that combat I knew that was a "nope" from me. A shame cuz I still love the art style and character designs. But that user interface, gameplay, and being on mobile are all huge detractors.
i genuinely do like it but its not what i had expected, i def struggled with fighting and gave up, i wanna be higher level tho so i keep it in the background
Are you new to the Mobile MMORPG scene? Auto system is a norm in most MMORPG mobile game.
I wonder if this would work with a mobile controller.
The only highlight of this game so far, for me, is that I get to play as a catboy.
When i see netmarble under the logo, i know there is something wrong
Ah this is great to know. Thank you for uploading!!
leave it to a ds game to save the ps3 era
a game that plays its own quests, thats effing perfect! i can let it play in the background 😂😂😂😂
EDIT: I have played the game after watching this review.
(But I'm using AOV as my worst experience comparison lmao)
2. Their item prices and packages fail to convince me to buy it. If even a casual player doesn't feel tempted, I think it can be improved.
3. Speaking of which, their item drops and gacha rates are terrible even for noobs (usually mobas have this luck boosted til u reach a certain level)
My review for this game:
Pros:
-Have a good gibli graphic
-Good storyline
Cons:
-Too many server but still have to wait in waiting list to enter the server.
-Relying on CP system
-All hail auto, i played 3 days and got bored easily.
I think mobile games are a lost cause. I'm old and remember when old execs and even journalists were toutung how "mobile games were the future" and would "render consols irrelevant."
Oh...how wrong they were.
yooo, I love your reviews
Glad you like them!
I always get the feeling that these projects aren't even meant to draw in the whales. They're just interactive ads for the actual games.
Oh yeah but actually about the joystick u can go in settings and adjust ur controlls :))
I sought for this video to find likeminded people, you've not dissapointed.
Unfortunately I haven't played any of the games in this series. I'll be avoiding this one lol
At least play the first one, it's amazing!
EXACTLY! I played for a few hours and REALLY wanted to love this game….
I can't get over the fact that they just could do a full-fledged, open-world jrpg and then did whatever tf this is
We all have busy lives and can't always play long games.. Mobile RPGs probably shouldn't be designed like console experiences, but designing a game that you turn on and set aside while it does everything for you kinda misses the point.
Why don't you go watch twitch or a cartoon and stop ruining games for the rest of us! Games are supposed to be played!
pc wont let me log in
Ugh, thank you for suffering for us! I heard “Ni No Kuni 2” was better now that they made a higher difficulty level, I loved the first game, should I give part 2 a second chance?
