Very thorough explained, thank you About the camera, doesn't the asi462 has way to small pixels for that setup, specially when using a powermate/barlow ?
Interested in your opinion on the ED127 vs the Edge 8"? The APO should be less fiddley to set up than the SCT. Both should be excellent do it all scopes although the APO is a higher price that would balance with the reducer for the SCT, they are also comparable with weight. On paper they are both excellent to do do it all. I think i would swing to the APO as a do it all but interested in the difference between them for planetary!
Thank you for these videos! I’m in Toronto as well and just getting started w/ Astro. Do you know if there’s any places to meet up/ star parties etc thanks!
For someone who has never done planetary, there is a lot of great info here. Only question I have is what is this "visual" thing you keep mentioning? 😂
Hi David. Thanks again for the info. Couple of questions for you. Are you using the CEM40 for the 8” HD? I get that it’s probably ok for planetary, but have you tried DSO with it. I’m looking at reflectors and I’m not sure the 40 is up to the load of an 8”. Secondly, could you use a cooled DSO camera like my ASI533MC Pro for planetary or does it not have a fast enough frame rate for that purpose?
Hey, so Edge will definitely work on the CEM40 no problem, even for DSO's. The 533 would not be ideal. I'm sure you could get it to work but the 462 and models like that are made specifically for planetary
Amazing image of Jupiter 👏
Welcome to Planetary! Look forward to follow you along this Journey. Planets are awesome 😁👍
Haha, yes they are. Glad I came back to this awesome aspect of astrophotography

Thanks and that's interesting... Perhaps that's why I was having an issue. I will look into that. Thank you 👍

Thanks so much for watching! I haven't been to a star party personally but I know there's one north of Caledon in the summer each year.

Just some archaic form of astronomy 🤣
