Thank you for sharing your story, Chuck was beautiful ❤ I'm so sorry for your loss, we lost our 13 year old boxer Ollie last December 2023, he was such a loving, loyal, playful and protective, we miss him so much! God bless!❤
Hi Jc. I love newfies the two i have now are landseer brother n sister 8 years old now my female Ghita is black n white and my male although not acceptable by akc is a bronze and white. I had two other newfies solid black midnight and solid bronze bella. I had them for 12 1/2 years. So i know your pain they are the best breed of dog in the world. I miss midnight and bella. My bella was definitely my girl i had breast cancer and for month she poked at my breast till the doctors found it months later. I knew then she was my girl so guess who got steak for dinner when i found out what she was telling me all along. They are amazing family. Love to you and i hope i have Ghita n Bruno for some more years
I just adopted Tonks, a Landseer Newfoundland. She came to me at 5 years old, she did not have very good manners, but my adult children have helped me get her settled and she is learning every day. She was a "grazer" when she came to us and now eats two meals each day. She will sit and wait to be fed. She still eats anything that is left out unattended, we had to put the garbage in a closet and have to lock it because she will open the door if available. She loves to go on car rides, she loves to walk on the beach with me. She used to bark quite a bit and we are working on that. I lost my husband in June of 2023, Tonks came to me in December of 2023. She definitely filled a "hole" in my life and I am so very blessed to have her in my life. Thank you so much for sharing!
Chuck has aided your healing, our giant breed dogs have souls that stay with us forever. Just so painful that they have shorter lives than most. Everyday with my giant boy is celebrated, he’s 5 yrs and just is the kindest dog but 75 kilos so he’s big boy. Sending droodles of love from Teddy, Hugo & me from uk, tgank you for sharing your beautiful story of a friendship that has given you strength 🙏😇💕💖🌈
I rehomed a Newfie Hettie from Battersea Dogs Home here in the UK. She was gifted in at ten months old and they took 5 months and several attempts at new homes before my visit. It was meant to be as she was a superb dog in every way. She was a little stir crazy after 5 months in kennels but had a wonderful life with me and my mother. There are many parks and lakes/ponds/canals she ran and swam in. We lost her just shy of ten to cancer. Your Chuck was stunning and deeply loved. Best wishes Keith Burton.
I'm so sorry you lost your girl. It sounds like she had an amazing life with you. We had our first newf in London, she lived to be 14. These dogs leave big holes. Thank you for sharing your story here. I wish you well.
Thank you! It sounds like you know exactly what it's like to wrap your arms around a great hairy stinky slobbery beast and feel the hot breath panting over your shoulder...
❤ support for your loss 🥹 it’s really painful to lose your family dog (we lost ours last summer). We might be ready to take a new personality into our lives this summer 🙏
I came across your video, I don't know you, but thank you so much for sharing Chuck's life and your life with him. God, losing a fur baby is so painful. I can see that he had a great life with you. A great tribute.
I feel your pain as I too lost my two Newfies one year apart. Had to go through the pain two years in a row. We have one Bernie mountain dog as I felt that I could never replace the Newfies I lived with. Unless you have shared life with a Newfie you will never know the love and loss.
So sorry for your loss. Chuck seems like such a sweet dog, I can tell he had the best family and life. I always enjoyed seeing him in your posts. Take care.
I been so loved by my Newfs and have so loved them. I cried through this whole video!! The loss is devasting but like you said, they fill you up completely so you can go on. I hope you get another if that work for you.
Thank you for your kind words. I was recently offered another Landseer, a rescue, but due to my long covid, I have to wait. Luckily she went to a great family!
My condolences. Thank you for sharing this! It's obvious that you gave Chuck a wonderful life! One of the many dogs I regularly walk, is also a Landseer. I absolutely love the breed!
How fortunate you both were, and are, to have found each other! Beautiful dog, story and life. Short but purposeful. Check has gone to his next adventure and you are whole. Can't ask for more😊
I am so glad that you had a wonderful life with your angel, Chuck. 😢 And it makes me sad to know that you have lost him. He will be waiting for you on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. I know all too well how awful it is to lose a precious baby. 😢😢😢
I had never heard of your channel when I stumbled across this video, what a beautiful boy Chuck was, I am sorry you lost him, but he was clearly loved by you, and he obviously filled your world with love. I hope you are now doing okay, I know what it's like when you lose them, I lost my Dax a while ago now, but I still think of him, but it gets better with the passage of time.
Thanks for your comment. My channel is mostly focused on watercolour painting and dog portraits. Chuck had a lot to do with my art practice in the time that he was with me. It's been a year since he passed, and I might finally be ready for another dog. I'm sorry about your Dax; did you get another dog?
@@JCLittle Getting another dog isn't something I could do, not because I don't want to, but because I am disabled and my condition is slowly worsening, and while I could give a dog a safe and loving home, I couldn't look after it's needs for being taken walks and exercised any longer, I don't even have a garden I could let it out into, and unless I could look after a dog properly I won't get one, it wouldn't be fair to the dog. I hope you do get another dog when you are ready, they are wonderful companions.
Oh honey. I had no idea this was a farewell video for your handsome boy Chuck. The video title did not indicate "in loving memory" or anything like that. I would've had Kleenex nearby while watching this video. I want a black Newfoundland someday and your Chuck had beautiful eyes and a great personality! I have no idea how you taught him to not eat food when you left the room. That was absolutely AMAZING!!! Thank you for sharing your lovely Landseer with the world! ❣
Thanks for your kind words... teaching Chuck how to learn was the first step. Once a dog understands the transactional nature of offering new behaviours for rewards, you can shape those behaviours in tiny steps. That's how I got him to 'ignore' food: I broke it down into tiny manaegeable steps. I rewarded him (with treats) for ignoring food for short periods. Then made those periods longer and longer, putting the food closer and closer. I started by getting him to ignore small amounts of foods and worked up to a peanut butter sandie. Not magic, just patience.
Thank you for commenting here. Making and sharing the video helped me in my grieving. Eventually I will be able to do a portrait of him in watercolour...soon.
I lost my brown Boy at only 5 1/2 who was the most handsome Boy, he too was the most amazing companion in every way imaginable. I won't go into detail but I understand your pain. You gave your Boy the best life full of love and that is all we can do. They are with us for such a short time but take thought that you will see him again someday, I firmly believe that. Very very best wishes from the U.K.
Thank you for being so open with your love & your grief with amazing Chuck❤ I feel as though you ate telling my story as I adopted a 3.5 yr old Newfoundland whom I named Rupert, who is love of my life (other than my beautiful girl Keegan❤). I would love & be honored to have you paint my 4 legged soul mate❤😊😊
Sorry for taking so long to reply. Newfs really do steal our hearts don't they? I would be happy to paint either Rupert or Keegan, whenever you are ready. Just get in touch through my website jclittle.com
I lost my heart dog a few weeks ago. She was a little black and white japanese chin called Doo. You're right she made me whole and I won't let go of that. I'm tattooing her paw print over my heart to remember her. Before I had kids I did pet portraits and when I feel strong enough ill do one for her too xx
Your story was beautiful. I'm not a small man 6ft and 200 lbs. I usually do a good job at hiding my emotions. I am on my third newfy now. Her name is Roxanne and she is 130 lbs. 8 years old. I drive a semi truck and she goes with me every where. There are not a whole lot of places that she is not welcome. At a few truck stops I was told that if I don't bring her in, do not bother coming in at all. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to handle it when it's time to say goodbye.
I’m on my 1st week of adopting a 9 week old Landseer puppy … I’m going to dread this day! So sorry for your loss! Please get another one because he would want you to be happy again! The breeder i got him from has one more male for 1k … i know its tough but please dont do what i did and wait 20 years when my dog died in my arms to get another one.. there was a hole in my heart that just got filled one week ago! If you want the guys number lmk… he lives in tewksburry ma
It’s hard to watch a video with you crying through the whole thing. I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be rude, but when someone loses a pet, it’s hard to watch a video with those sad reminders. Please be at peace.
Thanks for your comment. I am at peace; making and sharing this video helped me get there. I hope you will take care with the videos you choose to watch since it seems to be so hard for you. Please be at peace.
JC, thank you for telling the story of Chuck. I'm so sorry he's gone but I'm grateful for the time he was here. I'll miss him.
I'm glad ❤ it seems he had his own fans, though our stories were intertwined.
So,so sorry for your loss I couldn’t help but cry with you what a beautiful dog I’m lost for words 😢❤

Awe...such a beautiful boy...rest in peace Chuck...❤
This made me so emotional because he looks so much like my dog. I’m so sorry for your loss. Newfies really are something else.
All roads lead to the same place when we have a dog. When one of us loses one, we all grieve.
Thank-you for sharing this with me, it means a lot.🤍🖤🤍
He was certainly a beautiful dog
Sooo sorry for your loss but thank god for our memories and pics good times and bad. You will see each other again someday ❤

Mine too... Chuck was my third newfie.
Whoever said that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, clearly never owned a Newfoundland. Thank you for sharing your love story of Chuck, with us.
Forget the diamonds, I would rather have the dog!
