Interesting comments due to affording a car like this that i should have included in the video for peace of mind, On the finance calculator Vw quote;
48 months at £282.30
Customer deposit at £2,351.98
Deposit contribution of £1000
Final payment of £9,758
Make your own mind up, is this something a 18-22 year old can afford? Let me know below!
That's bonkers. For what you get.
Jamie_FYD no chance should go for an older model, the polo GTI is a great car for young drivers though but that price of the 2019 is way to much for what you get
@@A22Alex There are too many factors that affect insurance premium; where you live, your occupation, the safety features available, how often are they stolen.. and the list goes on so it will differ greatly per person. Currently am 22 and getting close to 5 years of driving with 0 accidents + no speeding offences and I can easily afford insurance on a "high performance" vehicle. here are some personal example fully comp insurance quotes i've had on stock cars from playing around on gocompare last month: Fiesta ST180 - £600, Toyota GT86 - £900, VW Scirocco R - £700, Honda Civic Type R FK2 - £670. Drive safe and keep your records clean and you'll literally watch your insurance premium drop year by year.
@I Drive A Corsa even better if daddy owns an insurance company
All depends if mummy and daddy fancy paying for there kids gti, but normal working class 18 yr olds ain’t buying no gti even with them finance rates...
Didnt realise young drivers had £30k to drop on a Polo GTI and £5k to spend on the insurance

prob gonna get bashed for this, but i use ad blockers.
The main reason you would get the Plus model is the full LED headlights which you missed out, they are around 800 alone, but Halogens on the base GTI are unforgivable, especially since the 2014-17 model had LED as standard on GTI.
Wouldn’t like to think of how much the insurance would be for a young driver
its a mine field with insurance
Wicked cars though
Like 3-4K for me who’s 18 with less than a year no claims so fuck that
2012 polo gti with 1 year no claims is 1200 buddy
Henry Stumpp got a 2018 s3 and my insurance is 2000. Twenty with three years no claims
Stage 1 remap takes it from 200 hp to 235hp and 320nm to 420nm torque. Mad torque gains
I got 242 bhp and 400nm torque on a stage one remap...love it to bits
Managed to gain 52 from mine
Mate what planet are you on no young person can afford this car or insure it. Will you actually pick cars that someone ages 18-22 can afford and also insure
1 word: Used.
@@wolfmannn2008 Find a used one online, pop the registration into comparethemarket or similar site, find a reasonable quote for 18-22.
Sonofa Seal if you go for a bit older models, like 2015, i found a GTI for 13.5k. With 2.99apr and the monthly rate of only 247/month.
If this is not affordable for the youth, I don’t know what is.
£247 per month only for the finance. Add another £140-£180 per month for insurance. Then add 28mpg average. Then decent tyres at £89-100 each. Easily £500 plus per month. How many 18-22 year old can afford this for a 2015 car?? My son is 29 and has a 2011 Renault Clio 1.2. It has 75bhp and costs £1400 to insure for the year limited to 3000 miles per annum. A Polo GTi would be easily twice that!! Some folk have no clue about real life.
I agree it is quite an expensive car for young drivers but your son is a mug if hes paying that unless he has a major driving offence and or hasnt got a no claims. There is no way he should be paying 1.4k...
It would be very difficult for a young driver to afford a brand new Polo GTI, even on finance. However, I have a 2017 Polo GTI 6C, which is just as fast and good looking as the 2019 one, and I'm on PCP which costs around £200 per month with a £2K deposit. That's more than affordable for me.
I bought this car as i was 33 yo. If i got it in my mid 20's i'll surely be dead by now.
same lol
I'm a young driver but I'll get that car when I'm 60🤣🤣not financially stable yet
FYI I have a polo se and Volkswagens finance options are really good and really affordable mines £185 a month
I bought the Polo at around 18k (Aus dollar) as a first car and its fantasic, costs nothing to keep going, fuel economy is fantastic, maintance costs no more than any other car, would recommend 100%.
What the fuel economy of your polo gti?
@@CiroDiMaRzio12304 Holds 40 litres and does 600kms roughly per tank, a polo 2019 though not gti, manual, worth a look :)
@@soya4683 Yeah im saving up for one but i also spended some money to buy my mom a car so it takes a little longer from now.
My god, I wish they sold these in the United States. Cheap, lightweight, fast enough to be fun on a backroad, and surprisingly sounds great considering how isolated the Golf GTI/R are. I don't understand why we don't get real hot hatches here.
Thank you Jamie. I'm due to pick up my Polo GTI next week. I know it's good but I'm bottling it a bit. I've just retired and found myself in such a lucky position that I can afford a car like this. I never expected to be in this position. I'm a bit gutted to let my 140 bhb fiesta go. But I will recommend it to others. It's really is nippy. Affordable (ish) too.

pretty cool wee cars. the orange coloured ones are pretty tidy and really modern looking
yeah dude the orange shade is awesome on these polos
I just turned 20 and own a Seat ibiza cupra 1.4l 2013 I am with admiral and pay 1500 a month. The car is a rocket and is cheap to insure, the best way to get cheap insurance is go on compare the market and get multiple quotes different days on the same car. I had many different quotes ranging from 3000-1500 and just save the reference number for each cheap quote you get. The quotes fluctuate because the more you look the more the price goes up. Also try it in the morning on different wifi connections from the one you have been using to get quotes from comparthemarket and clear all cookies. If your going for an ibiza cupra 1.4l get 2013+ with CTHE engine to avoid as many problems as possible

When I saw one of these on the streets when they first showed up, my immediate thought was: Damn, that looks like a spiritual MK2 GTI successor... that can't be a Golf, can it?
And I was right. The MK8 Golf proved to be the disaster that I anticipated. The Polo was a happy surprise for a change.
If I like the interior and handling, this might be the first VW since the MK4 Golf that I could actually see myself driving. I thought about the MK6 for a while, but my custom VR5-swapped MK4 with upgraded interior, engine tune, suspension, brakes, intake and electronics/entertainment still feels just as good, if not better than any MK6.
For some reason, that Polo looks very appealing though. Catches my eye more and more often, especially with some good custom wheels.
I'm 21 years old and I'm from Barcelona, I own one AW gti since 27 of september and I cannot be happier with it, is really fast, good looking, good exhaust sound, perfect for travelling ( i go snowboarding twice a month and I carry my BTT sometimes), don't waste a lot of fuel, good interior space and materials, girls love it... I'm so proud of owning and I would recomend anyone that is thinking to buy it to go for it.
I don't know how insurance are in UK but in Spain it costs me 600€ a year that wolud be like 570 pounds aprox.
Girls in the UK don’t love it mate. You get laughed at for driving a polo
I'm 26, looking at one on a lease and it's pretty reasonable for me. But I'm pretty stable financially ATM and insurance is no.longer a problem for me. Dunno about an 18yo but thanks for the review 😂
Hidden Gem that few Young Drivers look at nowadays are the New 1.5tsi Civic Fk7, 180bhp and insurance group 22 very reasonable.
I've got a better idea: Used VW Up! on PCP: £125 a month 48 months. Insurance between 600-800 for young drivers. Potentially less if you've had your license for a few years.
The Up! Has won many awards and is widely regarded as great fun to drive.
Pretty affordable insurance wise, I'm 21 and only costs £1,108 a year. Costs more to insure a 1.0 Fiesta ST-Line
I am getting one for myself, love this car
My missus has got this Polo Gti. The lease is super cheap, £240 a month including tyres and servicing.
We're in our 40's so it is super cheap to insure. I don't think insurance is the biggest problem a young driver would have with the car though.
I borrow it from time to time :D and pop it into Sports mode. It is very powerful, quite light, 200BHP and buckets of torque. I've scared myself a few times! It gets squirrely under hard acceleration.
If I'd had this 20 years ago, there's a good chance I would have put it in a hedge. As a young person I thought I was the best driver in the world. With age I've realised that I am an average driver at best (like almost all of us!). I'm certainly a better driver than I was in my 20's.
I don't think this is a good car for a young person, they could well kill themselves in it :)
My man you got took i got mine a year ago pcp for 250 and its kitted out with options
I agree its too much for anyone inexperienced they will bin it definitely
I’m 45, turned off after finding out there is no 3 door!! 🤯🥺 Gutted.
Im a believer that you should build up to this kind of performance, with lesser powered vehicles, until you know what you're doing. As a kid i would have loved this of course but we had to make do with fiestas and escorts etc. This kind of performance was the equivalent of a supercar, back in the sixties and seventies. Yes they have better brakes and safety features now but i still think a gti is too much for a new driver.
Theres also the fun of getting all you can out of a slower car. If you drove this at full speed, youd get the jail. Maybe modern teens are more sensible than i was....
Wonder where all these young drivers are getting all the money for all these cars😂😂don’t actually know any young drivers that can afford a single one of the cars he’s doing

It depends of the driver but about 450 running. Month with insurance fuel and upkeep
getting mine in 2 weeks and they are affordable, im 18. Doing an initial payment for half the car and then financing the rest. About 2.5k insurance with no black box on 1 year no claims. not too bad imo
Got one with manual. Only car I ever ordered from new. Well ... LHD market got manual transmision for half of year while LHD polos was assembled in Spain befor it moved to SA (from 11/2017 to +/- 6/2018). Ordered in september I believe and than waited for 20 weeks *SPOLER* was worth it. :D a lot of fun to drive, a lot of power for engine from tiguan and after year and almost 25 000km my consumption is around 8L to 100km (lowest was 5,6 highest around 9,7). I ordered a lot of additional equipment. Honestly some of them is useless or just disappointment, at least to me. Navigation is mostly useless and app-connect with waze do much better job, heated seats in winter get hot after 6-8km. Insurance is absolute overkill I paid around 5% of whole car price just this year in insurance. I only miss 4x4 since I switched from 3.0TDI Quattro :)
Nice review, thanks mate. VW owe you because that's at least one Polo you've sold 😅 Needed a little runaround and couldn't think what to get, then I see this on YT recommendations. Perfect! Thought about the Suzuki Swift or Toyota Corolla HB. The Swift is too small for me and the Toyota is 10 seconds to 62mph. I even considered a Honda Type R (would have removed all the embarrassing paraphernalia after buying it of course), but that vehicle really was just too large for my needs. But apparently, due to demand VW are temporarily stopping all new orders on the Polo because of demand! Incredible.
With respect, 1:33 what age exactly are these "young drivers" you have in mind who can:
1. Afford the car in the first place
2. Afford the insurance
3. Afford both the above and then pay even more for insuring an engine modded car?
19? 20? years old? Do you have any idea how few people that actually is? Daddy's money is the only way this is happening for the 1% of young drivers who are lucky enough to be born into money. At that point they can probably get daddy to buy them something better than a Polo anyway...
its a series with a range of cars, from £1500 cars upwards but thanks for watching
I know plenty of young people who buy cars such as this by themselves its not that hard 🤷♂️

I agree with all the comments saying young people can’t afford this but I also think it’s terrible advice to be telling anyone (especially young people) to finance a car.
I’d far sooner own a second hand car than finance a new one, no question.
A far better car for a younger petrolhead would be a lupo GTI, 3series or even a diesel Audi. You just don’t need 200+ HP in your first or second car.
I think for young drivers the regular polo is plenty!
Just to let any you guys thinking about this car know, the insurance really isn’t bad on these things
awesome video man! agree on the seats and the steering wheel for sure⭐️
Standard and the car sounds so beautiful ❤
Young drivers spending near £300 on a car per month, bit too much you think? And it doesn't even include the insurance :0

If you can afford the extra i would go to Hyundai i30 n i would recomend that car to anyone its nuts i coulnt justify the extra 130 a month to the polo but it you can afford 380 a month for a hot hatch go an test drive that beast
What's the point of a hot hatch that is an automatic? Get a manual and learn how to drive it properly. Especially if you are a new/young driver the last thing you need is to distance yourself from the driving system with an auto with a big engine. Small engine, good handling, manual, lightweight is what to go for. Not expensive, unexciting, glitzy hatchback.
The 1.8 has the same torque figures too. Heavier car compared to the last. The last of the breed manual was a gem. German built too not this SA nonsense

I would love to own this as I'm coming up to finishing my first year of driving in march. I don't see how i could afford this though :/ I've been thinking of leasing a car until my NCD is built up so i can in a few years finally get my own car which i actually want rather than what I'm stuck with at the moment. My only issue is being able to mod the car i couldn't live on that ride height. LMAO
Best off not even financing because the amount you pay (not including fuel and insurance or any repair costs if warranty runs out) you'll never see it again no where near it

@@snaimz3479 honestly from owning one for a year now its great but way too much for a *young * driver in all aspects.
