Brioche Vanilla Custard Buns… Pudding Lips! | How To Bake

  • Soft buns made from brioche, filled with vanilla custard! … Pudding Lips!
    This recipe will give 6 pudding lips...
    Dough:
    150g (1, 1/4 cups) Flour
    2 Eggs
    22g (4tsp) Sugar
    4g (1tsp) Yeast
    3g (1/2tsp) Salt Add at the end of mixing
    53g (1/4 cup) Butter Add at the end of mixing
    Filling:
    200g (1, 2/3 cups) Vanilla custard powder Check your store
    500ml (2 cups) Water for the custard
    +-75g (1/3 cup) Powdered sugar to put on top
    Eggwash:
    1 Egg
    30ml (2tbsp) Milk
    Process:
    -Add flour, eggs, sugar and yeast into a bowl.
    -Mix until a dough has formed.
    -Start mixing fast for around 6 minutes.
    -Add (soft) butter and salt.
    -Mix slowly again until most of the butter is mixed into the dough.
    -Mix fast again until your dough is smooth and extensible.
    -Grease a bowl, shape dough round.. put it in and cover (1 hour rest).
    -After 1 hour, deflate and divide dough into 6 equal pieces +-50g each.
    -Put on a tray, cover and rest for 10 minutes.
    -Uncover, shape dough pieces into "lips".
    -Put on to bakingtray, cover and rest for 1 hour.
    -In the meanwhile prepare vanilla custard as shown in video.
    -After 1 hour, uncover your "lips" and brush with egg.
    -Bake on 240C/464F for 6-8 minutes until light golden brown!
    -After baking brush with melted butter.
    -Cool down, cut open and fill with vanilla custard.
    -Finish them with powdered sugar on top.
