Very informative and I loved the Elgar. Does everyone use that same knot on their violin string? I have seen one artist use a bowline (knot), which is a great knot but it looked a right mess. You are using an overhand knot to form the loop which I would think might make it more likely to snap at the knot but this is from a sailor's point of view and not from a player's experience.

I'd use Wittner Fine Tune pegs and a Stringing crank to solve that problem as well as Aquila F-reds

try using metal wound gut
Try using your ears and brain- wound gut isnt ok for her BAROQUE project which needs pure gut.
