As a Russian I can atest, that's pretty much what happened for most of our history. Except for a few instances where we were actually getting invaded, then it was the same but at least somewhat warranted.
Would it be appropriate to ask for city lights mod series repeatedly in the comment section?) I think not, but I will do it anyway, especially when I am this early 😈.
This reminds me of my vampire Vietnam run a year or two ago. I didn't even need apocalypse mode. The forests where Hungary used to be were just perpetually on fire.
Once you're satisfied with the hellfire, consider chopping the forests around the ring of preserve tiles, then just lay waste the the ring around the preserve. Means you can have contained fires that don't rage across the land

I played this map and had a perpetual fire going for thousands of years. I then planted preserves all over it to buff the yields, and then vampire castled a few of the central ones. I had tiles with 30+food/production on them. Was glorious.
Had a similar situation on an arboreal map playing as brazil i think. The fire started around turn 20 and did not stop until the end. The tiles had like 20 food and production by the end. My cities all had 2 pop, but it was really funny :D
Oh these sorts of setups make me so happy. You just know the hilarity will come... oh yes, and yields, those too. But mostly the fun. (hehe oh the Prodigy reference)
Recently i was playing on a Europe TSL and Finland had a constant forest fire going around it for most of the game, meaning I looked over at one point and noticed the tiles were all like 8 food 8 production. Eventually Norway settled some ridiculous megacities cities.
Seeing all that spice at the start makes me want a Dune themed mod! The map could be a 4-player arrakis and objective to secure a monopoly on spice production
Ursa - I had been dragging my feet about sending you some games pics of this; been playing this map for yrs and have loved the 16 food + 18 production tiles that get created some times even with only level 2 disasters.
As the ghost of a clown called Chuckles once said: "I scream, you scream, we all scream... In the terrible house fire at the family reunion." Now I'm wondering if it was Chuckles or Ursa that set the fire.
That's a hilarious idea. I'm not quite sure how viable it is considering that at turn 85 the combined science and culture output is below 30. I will keep watching in amazement though!
I like how the heavy cav from an asteroid thing came about when they released apocalypse mode and (I assume) it was put into the base game on accident. I think they haven’t taken it out cause there would be riots
It reminds me a map I have created for myself - a small island with radius 3 with only woods. And then it started... I have played on marathon speed and that yields were insane as fire never stopped - something like a circular movement around my city.
I had that happened to me when I played as Russia on a TSL Europe map. I didnt happen intentionally, but by the time I reached the atomic era I had tile yields in the 30s and 40s lol. It was wild 😂
Played a non apoc game on Switch recently which had a random fire loop round one Aussie city. It finally stopped a few turns before the first declaration of war on me (flex) Nothing like the yields here, but the Curtin bonus felt especially hilarious.
Ursa: "We didn't start the fire." Maury: "That was a lie." Lol but yeah, this looks like it will be fun! Though I wonder if we should set up a separate Patreon to pay for the therapy bill for Ursa's computer with all these fires and TSL maps...
I played Mongolia on the same map, which is even closer to the giant forest on the right. BUT I played on MARATHON speed. the yield was basically infinite if you are patient. i ended up having 50food 50 production tiles plus preserve bonus. A city can grow to 10 pop in a few turns and having 500+ production lol
I did this on accident was playing a tsl Africa map, and the sub Saharan rain forest caught fire. I started settling the forest at +18 food and production. once it got to the +30s and 40s. I cut firebreaks so my pops would stop dying. so strong.
How cool would it be if someone made a modded Pantheon where you got a small burst of Faith each time you lost a population. It would have to be small enough so spamming Settlers wasn't riiculously OP, but it could be cool to reward some of the silly things people like Ursa do- not building Dams and settling next to volcanoes and such. ;)
Huzzah, you could have done it more efficiently. i think the fire would spread all around from the first chrge, so you could just burn the regrown forest as soon as it regrew.
If you want fun with fires on this TSL map, play Brazil or Kongo. I almost rage quit out of my Kongo game because I kept losing pop, settlers and units early game to forest fires, until I saw how busted my yields were becoming. Won my first time on Immortal with my first cultural victory and I have never seen higher food or production yields in my life than what I had in my capital.
You’ll need environmentalism for eternal fires I believe. From a forest intact to being intact again is like 6 or 7 turns, you need to find a place to make a circle of woods, but you have to make sure there is only one connection to the rest of the woods of the map. Also, the circle needs to be incomplete at the start On a grid this would look like this : 🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲 🌲➖➖➖➖➖🌲 🌲➖🌲🌲🌲➖🌲 🌲➖🌲➖🌳🌲🌲 🌲➖🌲🌲🌴➖🌲 🌲➖➖➖➖➖🌲 🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲 The 🌳 would be the starting place for the fire The 🌴 would be missing when the fire is lit, and then placed after the first fire tile has finished burning

Don't forest fires contribute to the global warming? With this much carnage, we're probably looking at a comet rain no later than the renaissance era. I remember when I did the obligatory funny Great Bath flood spam strategy, The game entered the apocalypse in I think either late medieval or early renaissance era. It was one hell of a mad dash to get off the planet before my empire got wiped off the face of the earth. The best part is that you won't even be able to check due to the button being broken. My bet is on turn 145.
*Day 2 of being one of these annoying people that ask Ursa to play something, but I really want you to play Project Metropolis mod lol. Can't wait to see the yields on this game, though wooo* 👍💪
No one can ever convince me there's only one Ursa Ryan. Too much content for there to be only one!
Have you ever seen me and Ursa Ryan in the same place at the same time? Just saying
(It's mostly down to the amazing work Sleepy puts in with me!)
