Thank you for this incredibly informative video! I now understand why/how I wiped out a pair of speakers by not having the factory head unit flashed, and will be taking the appropriate steps to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Great informational video. Ive added an amp and speakers to a 2020 SGS. Im going to add speakers to the lower fairing as well. I ordered the BT355 to get me by until I decide I really want to take it to another level. You just showed me what to realistically expect from a basic upgrade and where to start with a higher end upgrade.... Very much appreciated.
Floyd Kemp 1 second ago Don't mean to change tone but after watching your DSR-1 video I have a question will it work for my system? I have 1 Focal Sport 4 ch amp in my fairing, 1 Focal Sport 4 ch amp in my bag, and 1 Diamond 2 ch amp in my other bag for my subs. Speakers are 2 Hertz 6.5 fairing, 2 Hertz 6.5 lowers, 2 Hertz 6x9's bag lids, 2 JL 8" Subs in bags and 2 Hertz Nano Tweeters in my bag. So will a DSR-1 work for my setup? Your video says all bike audio upgrade should run Some kind of DSP.
@@floydkemp3134 I think you confused my comment with NVS Audio you need answers from Carlos from New Jersey I'm Dan from San Antonio no affiliation to Mr Carlos but he does have the knowledge the DSP from my understanding works like your old school crossovers from back in the days your radio plugs into your DSP and you run all your rca's to your amps when you're using your DSP you download your program into your phone and you can set up your system the way you want I don't know what year you have to flash your radio to get a flat EQ curve but that needs to be done too on newer models I don't know how far I am from being right on that I'm still learning seems to me like you have all the pieces to make the puzzle come together hope the best for you sir but respectfully don't listen to anything I say ask Carlos he's the man 💯🇺🇸
I hope you fixed that cut harness and put back the factory mx150 molex connectors. I add the molex to the dsr1 to make it a pnp unit. Solder and heakshrink is great for a handlebar harness but I like to keep the customers harness pnp to easily put back to factory if they change bikes in the future. Also cutting and splicing wires changes wire resistance when adding solder thats why on a bagger 14 and newer you really can't solder wires it has a can/bus that hates ohm changes in the harness. Great info on the dsp and line leveler though.
I used the Biketronics line leveler with a Biketronics BT4180 which is 180 per channel and Hertz MLK 1650.3’s Line leveler Worked great. Now I have DSP going in. No Hertz MLK 1650.3’s anymore
So much good information bro! If I'm installing just new front speakers (2 total) and an 800wx4 channel amp but only have the 2 front speakers on my '21 sgs and don't plan on adding more... Would i still need the radio flashed? Thanks! Oh speakers are infinity kappa 6.5 600x and I have the plug and play wire harness too already!
Thanks for your easy to understand videos, Carlos. What is your recommendations for an entry level DSP to match say for a SD 800.4 Evo X with a simple 2 or 4 speaker entry level system.
Great stuff, thank you. My question, if I get this correctly, I don't need a "line leveler" if I have an aftermarket radio, I can simply use RCA cables from the radio to the amp?
Hey Carlos, learning alot from many videos, my issue is that HD has changed the plugs on the 2021 touring models, and none of my shops nearby, have the plug yet. conflicting answers, does the new GTS system have to be flashed? its a 2021 Road Glide Limited. I am adding the RF T400x4ad, along with the RF amp install kit, which makes the DSR1 P&P. not going over board on this install, just want to get it done now, and not sit an have to wait till they can flash it.Suggestions? Patience?
May be a dumb question…. But I use Spotify for my music and adjusted the EQ on the app and it seemed to help a lot. Is that not a decent cheap solution? At least until I can install a dsp
If I decided to throw in a stage 3 six speaker Rockford system do I still need to worry about needing a dsp or is the output signal from the Rockford deck clean enough to where I don't have to worry about damaging any speakers??

Yes The dsr1 with a proper tune will make your 6x9s produce more mid bass but you have to be realistic with your expectations. It’s just like door speakers in a car , you can only get so much out of them before you need to add a subwoofer/ mid bass driver for real bass .

Is there a fix for this issue so I can use it ..? Or is there another dsp u recommend other than the dsr1
Torion Jones some thing is wired wrong We use the Dayton dsp on Harley-Davidson all the time . The Dayton doesn’t support high level speaker input though the rca but it does have speaker level input on the power plug . Use those and you will Be fine .
This sounds more like you confusing the marketing. I do not view this devices name as a "signal leveler". When I read its name I specifically see it as an LOC, and that is what it is.
Not sure if you have used these amps ever, I just bought one that seems to come with everything built in...no need for a DSP? aquaticav.com/amplifiers/ad3002micro-2-channel-amplifier/
