- VICE News' Hind Hassan spent time with the Taliban in both last year and in January. Despite the insistence of Afghan leaders in Kabul, Taliban commanders told her they will not participate in intra-Afghan talks with the aim of power-sharing in the current political system. She also witnessed the Taliban justice system first hand.

Well Christianity has been around of thousands of years and yet it had drastically changed and is shed some of its more barbaric practices. Now Islam has also seen this, there are muslim societies that are more secular. Many of the people there enjoyed a democracy while also being believers. The Taliban's form of islam is barbaric and should not be practised. It's just a bunch of power hungry fanatics ruining a country that could have had a good future. But know its going to be sent back into the dark age. Most Afghans most likely don't want this just baced on how many people where trying to escape on the planes when the americans where leaving.

It was a good system maybe 500-1000 years ago, and at the time it was probably the best that could be offered, and very sophisticated, but the world changes, human knowledge advances.

Would people be able to do what they can do today if they kept doing things the same way they did thousands of years ago?
The modern system probably looks too slow and complex to them but it tries to ensure it is as just as it can be and even then there can be abuse, because no matter how just the law is on paper the people who enforce it can be corrupt or make mistakes.
Their system has little to prevent this.
And at the end of the day we could ask the same, why do the Taliban care that some afganese use a different system? They can use the Sharia law among themselves and let those that want another system use it.
