Hi! Unfortunately, I am no longer at AMDA NY. I graduated back in February. I can tell you about the dorm outside my room if that helps? The Strat is an apartment-style dorm with 10 floors. Each floor (except for the first floor) has two hallways separated by two elevators with two showers in each hallway (4 public showers total on each floor.) There are also public bathrooms separate from the showers on each floor. On the first floor, there is one common area for the entire dorm. It's pretty small for the number of students in the dorm (which is occupied by mainly MT majors.) There are a few couches, board games, a table with two chairs, and a TV with cable. There is also a back patio that is used more during the late Spring and Summer. Additionally, there is one community kitchen with 2 stoves (8 stove tops total; no oven), one sink, one toaster oven, one panini press, and seating areas. The dorm also has 3 performance studios on the first floor and in the basement. I hope this helped out! Thank you for watching!

It depends on the type of room you have. If you have a single room with a bunk bed, I believe you can take out the bottom bunk and make it a loft style. If you get a double room with a bunk bed and you’re living in it as a single room, you can’t take anything out. I tried doing that, but the housing dept. wouldn’t let me.

Joni Back-Bubenzer of course! No problem at all. Congratulations to your daughter. If she’s a Musical Theatre major, she’ll definitely be in the Stratford Arms. And no, you aren’t allowed to have friends over to visit, but you are allowed to have immediate family over to visit until 11 pm every day. No one can stay over though overnight. These were the rules when I was a student. I don’t know what the rules are now during the COVID-19 pandemic though.

First off, congrats on your acceptance! 😁💚 Second, prior to COVID-19, most, if not all, dancers were placed in the Amsterdam housing building. All dorms are singles now in NY so roommates are not a thing anymore for the time being. While I was at NY, housing was about $5,000 per semester, but I don’t know if that has changed since last year. I hope this helps. 😊

bella lobello you can only loft your bunk bed if you are in a dorm room facing the elevators, and I believe you can bring your own chair for the desk. (All of this pertains to the Stratford Arms. I have no idea if these apply at the Amsterdam.) Hope this helps! ♥️
Not quite $70,000 total, but very expensive to say the least. Recommendations I have to lower the cost at AMDA in general include: 1. Apply to become an RA (They essentially get free housing.) 2. Potentially bump up your scholarship by working extremely hard and being dedicated to the program. 3. Apartment hunt and find a better housing deal off-campus (This may be a little difficult now because it’s a seller’s market currently with the pandemic.) At the end of the day, the dorms aren’t the most luxurious experience, but the training is 100% worth the living situation. 😌 I hope this helps. 💚

Do you know if you can take down the bunk beds

When I got my single room, they actually gave me a double sized room to live in alone so that’s why they wouldn’t let me take out anything.

They will show you some places to get them done, but you will have to pay about 150 for them at the least.
