- Marie-Josée Ta Lou and Murielle Ahouré of Côte d'Ivoire are unequivocally the two best short sprinters in African history.
Ta Lou owns the 100m African record of 10.72 second, run at the 2022 Monaco Diamond League. Murielle Ahouré owns the 60m African record of 6.97 run at the 2018 World Indoor Championships. In addition, Ta Lou and Ahouré have won a total of 9 Global medals, both indoors and out, in the past 10 years.
Both ladies have not only thrust their country of Côte d'Ivoire into the spotlight when it comes to fast times and global medals, but also completely dominated and led the way for sprinting on the continent of Africa as a whole.
Ta Louuuuu 🎉 much love from Côte d'Ivoire 🇨🇮
Talou is a outstanding sprinter ..you have to run hard to beat talou these girls have run against the best of the best our ja girls .. Big up you two girls .love you ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
These ladies are amazing!!!!! Much love from
🇯🇲
Thanks for watching!
You never miss..........lol. Somehow you manage to keep great perspectives and content coming. Thanks for all the hard work and research it takes to keep us in the know.
Thanks!!! I really do appreciate that!
really enjoyed this vid as ive watched both athletes for years now
Talou won bronze in Doha in 2019 (Dina Asher-Smith is the one who won silver). It would have been good to also mention the Diamond League won by Ahoure in 2018 (even if it's not a medal that is given to the winners).
Thanks for this great video. I am happy that these two ladies are inspiring many other young girls out there. The future is assured as Jessika Gbai and Maboundou Kone (the new generation of Ivorian sprinters) are already doing great and won (alongside Murielle and Ta Lou) the Lausane 400 meter relay and other races in Africa and abroad.
Great ladies
And them a run fast but only with their mouth Mr bolt put them in their place
I love them both!!!
Proud to be ivorian
I would like you to do a feature on Kambunji of Switzerland, she is a consistent runner
Ta Lou got bigger performances coming ahead.
Agreed!
great vid
A great video. I’d actually forgotten Gloria Alozie had held the 100m record in Nigeria. She’s better known as a 100m hurdler…….whose records have all been broken by Tobi Amusan(the greatest track athlete in my country’s shistory)
Thanks for watching! I'm Nigerian as well. I probably need to take a look and compare Nigerian athletes through history. Onyali ofcourse won many medals at African championships and the Olympic Bronze, but also Ajunwa is the first Gold medalist. Alot of untapped potential in Nigeria now too
Mboma is coming for all them records internationally
Mboma is definitely on the rise and will be VERY dangerous in the 100m and 200m. Thanks for watching!
Mboma is a man. You should be embarrassed.
Poor you..
Mboma is not a woman
Those two are really good. Another one would be Kambunji her dad was from Congo and she lived there.
And if you count the number who haven' t been caught up in a "controversy" that number drops down even further. Great video! I am big admirers of both of them!
Yea its unfortunate that a few women (Okagbare) have got caught up in controversey, but it does add to Ta Lou and Ahoure's accolades. Thanks for watching!!
❤️
Gambie too
The thing with Cote D'Ivoire that other African countries do not do is these women get direct sponsorships from the Presidency. I understand Ahoure was given $400, 000 to assist her in training. The talent is there in Africa, but the support is not track-focused. Most of the resources go to soccer in which the continent has produced a bunch of millionaire sports men.
U should od more vids on upcoming countries in track and field. countries i can think of rn r botswana and india. botswana has success on the mens sprints and india went crazyon the womens youth side in 2022
Not for long. Watch for Favour Ofilli.
My favorite female athlete Jose talou would have won world championship gold 2017 and the Olympics bronze medal in 2016 but her failing to deep at the finish line cost her those medals to American Tori bowel
Ta Lou!! ❤❤❤❤
Murielle Ajoure was not raised in Africa. Her father was a wealthy diamond mine owner and was a diplomat. She was raised in affluent communities and private schools in Europe and Asia. Ta Lou grew up in abject poverty. She did not have a penny to her name. They come from two vastly different experiences.
True, but they are both Ivorian and represent the country well. Both were born there and can represent. Sure they are from different backgrounds, but that doesn't diminish the accomplishments they have. Ahoure competed in the NCAA and has trained in the USA her whole career, while Ta Lou is now coached by John Smith in California. Regardless, they are representing well for their country and the continent.
Thanks for watching!
@@TheFinalLeg Yes, you are right, but just pointing out to people that not all Africans are the same. As some frequently assume.
foolish unneeded comment what does her wealth have to do with ANYTHING
I don't agree. Where do you place Mary Onyali?
Onyali is up there for sure because of her 1996 Bronze, and she had such a long career (competed at 5 Olympic Games) But she unfortunately never won a world championship medal and only has that single Global medal. Yes, she does have the 2 medals from the 1994 Commonwealth, but not every country competes there (such as Côte d'Ivoire). Her personal best was also only 10.97 and ran 10.99 and a hand-times 10.7 so doesnt have as many fast times.
But believe me, I'm Nigerian myself, so I'm well versed in Onyali's career and she is one of the best African sprinters in history.
Thanks for watching!
@@TheFinalLeg Onyali has two Olympic bronze medals. The only medal missing in her collection is the world championships medal and when it comes to medal count from the continental level to the global level she's ahead of all the sprinters you mentioned. Please, do the maths.
@@asiruabbas I am specifically talking about individual medals. And both Ahoure and Ta Lou have more All Africa & African Championship medals than Onyali.
Again, this isn't to say one person if less than the other, this is to highlight what has been achieved over the past few decades and how the ladies have brought representation for Africa at the Global championships
@@TheFinalLeg Onyali has won the 100m thrice at the All African Games. Neither Ahoure nor Ta Lou has been able to achieve this. If you combine all the medals won by Ahoure & Ta Lou at the African Games, they are not up to the medals won by Onyali. I have not added all the relay medals won by Onyali. Please, check your records very well. Look at their careers from the junior level to the senior level, to the NCAA etc. Onyali is a legend.
@@TheFinalLeg I will appreciate if you can look at the number of medals won by an individual athlete globally and on the continent and let us know who has the highest.
Gina Bass will break Al the African record mar my words
She is one to look out for. Im hoping the promise she showed in the past few years does develop into fast times and top performances at major championships. She is 27 years old so still has some years to go!
She needs a lot of support in funding. She is talented but to get to the top requires top coaching.
Olympics is the climax and the two women you listed have no Olympic medal.
But its not the only thing. winning a single Olympic medal cant be seen as better than winning multiple world championship medals. And to the general public the Olympics is the climax, but we all know that the Olympics and the World Championships are essentially equal in terms of global championships in our sport.
Look at the competition they are against though.
@The Final Leg - You must mean the two greatest FEMALE African sprinters in history, and even that statement is questionable. (Christine Mboma of Namibia will have a more decorated career than both of them, combined.) What about Ferdinand Omanyala, or Aziz Zakari before him, or Innocent Egbunike before him? 👉 This is exactly why people who are too young should not be pretending to be figures of authority in our sport. Man, the least you can do is learn how to pronounce Ta Lou's full name correctly.
I think I clarified on Facebook, but yea this is ofcour a comparison of women sprinters. Notice there is no mention of Men in the video.
As noted, were all definitely looking forward to seeing what Mboma will do as she has already accomplished a good amount at a young age.
And no one if claiming to be a figure of authority. More than glad to hear your list of top African women sprinters! Thanks for watching!
Ta Louuuuu 🎉 much love from Côte d'Ivoire 🇨🇮
