Great reaction man, I’m still confused as to why 14 months after discovering Hi Ren I’m still hooked on watching reactions, this is something I mocked my kids for doing in the past. But there is something special to be found in witnessing others discover him for the first time. As a life long music fan never has an artist hit me like Ren.

I'll be 40 in September. Ren made me cry. Chinchilla made me hopeful. Ren and Chinchilla "How to be me" made me want to stick around, because they are feelings and art and hope and I want to fight and stay alive!

What is even more remarkable is that that was done LIVE and in ONE take - though it took 4 or 5 attempts to get one he was satisfied with. He has struggled with undiagnosed Lyme disease for 7 years and was treated for psychosis and mental illness for 7 years before finally being correctly diagnosed - by which time the damage has been done.
He is Welsh but lives in Brighton, UK, and had been receiving treatments in US and Canada to try and repair what they can of the damage done.
I’m learning a lot reading these reactions. He has a truly unique story. Thank you for sharing and being here. I truly appreciate you 🙏

The message this song's conveying, is universal.
So many surprises to be discovered down the 'Ren Rabbit Hole'. Every song is unique. He sings different styles and plays different instruments and experiments with different genres! To speak to your experience I suggest a super-rap ('Losing It'), a sad, personal testimony ('Suicide') and a fun acapella track (Loco). These will show you how diverse his catalogue and skills are. 'Money Game' (1,2,3,) and 'The Tale of Jenny and Screech (and Violet)' are also deeply meaningful and essential orientation. As you can hear from his poem here, he never expected to live to his 34th birthday (yesterday), and has created millions of loving, protective and enthusiastic fans.

You have SO much to look forward to with Ren! :) He's a once in a generation artist! He's fully independent too, partly by choice, partly due to absolutely horrendous health problems. At one point he was bedridden and in unrelenting chronic pain, making it impossible to sleep propeely, for 7 years! It was effectively a seemingly unending and constant torture. That and the wrong psychotropic drugs they had him on (they told him it was all in his head... it wasn't) was what caused the psychotic break. The psychosis went with the correct diagnosis and treatment but he's still in constant, though usually lesser, pain and he has a whole raft of serious chronic health problems, that have made him unable to tour, or to properly promote his music.
He's almost entirely self-taught, in everything and I do mean everything! He does it all. Does it all brilliantly. Does it in every genre and never misses. You were admiring his voice. Believe me, you havent heard anything yet! :) Ren has incredible vocals, capable of multiple voices, styles and tones! He raps like a rap god, scats and beatboxes brilliantly! He plays about a dozen instruments well. Half of them RIDICULOUSLY well! All self taught. He sets up all his own audio, lays down his own music/beats/audio and does his own production. He's a top-notch producer! His performance skills are first-class too and his stage presence is palpable! He directs most of his own videos and many of those videos, like Hi Ren, are recorded live, in a single take! His songwriting is world-class! Especially his lyricism. He's a poet really and a bloody good poet at that! His overall talent is almost unbelievable! Coupled with high intelligence, wisdom beyond his years and a wicked sense of humour, he pretty much has it all! :)
There's so much more to tell but you're about to be introduced to the Renegades! They'll fill you in! :)
tl/dr - Ren's great! Ren's music is great! Definitely react to more Ren! You won't be disappointed! You WILL be surprised... constantly! :)

Never being able to watch this for the first time again myself I am loving all these new reactors who are discovering Ren. This is the biggest iceberg you’ll ever turn over and I can honestly say I’ve never heard a bad Ren song. Some real hard hitters that will have you blubbing. A couple of suggestions to get to know Ren a bit more “sick boi” “seven sins” “1 million subscribers video”
Then to see his skills, “the tale of Jenny and screech” (full version) & the “money game” trilogy but make sure money game 2 is the lyric video.

US Navy for 5 yrs. Stationed in Norfolk, VA. 1987-92. Was serving on a repair tender ship for 2 yrs during Desert Storm/shield in 1990. Electronics technician ET2 or E-5. I was done after 5 yrs because I just had my daughter and was not re-enlisting. Love Ren's music, he is very special and I absorbed everything he has put out over the years. It took me a good year and a half to hear it all but like a fan girl I have all his CD and some of his merch. He is so refreshing unlike any artist today. He is multi-talented in multiple instruments, sings many genres, raps does his own production and much more. He is independent because he wants his message to get out to the world and he doesn't want a big label to stifle him. I would say (sick boi) next, then the (Tales of Jenny and Screech) full 13 min. version

Welcome to the multitalented genius Ren. This masterpiece is just the tip of the iceberg. A powerful icing on the Ren-cake if you will 😅 He is a relatable voice for everyone dancing in the darkness as he eloquently, with all the authenticity of someone who is painfully familiar with it, lets us know that we are not alone and inspires us to keep dancing. And in doing so, Ren has literally saved lives with his art.
I trust that other RENegades will fill you in on his backstory and probably recommend Sick Boi for insight into his frustrations from being misdiagnosed for years. I will just add a suggestion to check out one of my personal favourites: Crutch feat. Bibi. It’s an older song from before Ren was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. It is heart wrenching and stunning.

Welcome new Renegade✊. I can only echo every other comment on here and say you have stumbled on an amazing artist! I’ve never been a ‘fan girl’ but at now, at 49 years young, I find I’m a fan woman of Ren. He’s the best artist certainly of my generation. He’s multi talented and due to being independent he’s not boxed into any particular style/genre and he can do it all extremely well. He has so many great tracks/videos and once you delve into all of them you’ll feel the same way.
His duets with Chinchilla are amazing, as are his street performances with Sam Tompkins and his band ‘the big push! (I shot the sheriff daytime version/wearing red braces) is a standout). My personal favourites: the tales of Jenny screech and violet (back to back) ‘what you want’ ‘chalk outlines’ ’how to be me’ ’seven sins’ ’money game (trilogy)’ ‘love music (quadrilogy) ‘power’ ’Genesis’ ’Fred again mash up’ ‘back on ‘75 retake’ oh and so many more…Subbed to follow you on your journey. enjoy!

This is art of transcendent beauty and an *important* song.
Artists often struggle with imposter syndrome. There’s a movie starring Olivia Munn called “Violet” that rings of this and was a transformative experience for me-much the same as this song resonates.
As a person who’s never been able to escape negative self-talk and imposter syndrome, *realizing* that I can exert the strength that destructive voice questions-strength that already resides within me-was sooo important.
It takes time to push past the negativity-to make your own voice stronger, but if anyone out there is struggling with this, please please please *know* that you can do it.
*Know* that I believe in you… but you don’t need me to-just like you don’t need the shroud of doubt that feels first of protection and then as a prison.
You are *stronger* than that voice.
You are stronger than you can *possibly* know…
until you push back with softness or aggression-your choice.

I’ve been following him for about three years, but he really blew up over the last year when he released this video his story is amazing. His talent is even more amazing and he’s even a better human so this is my first time on your channel and I expect you will love this and you will go down the rabbit hole. Of REN. I been around a while like you and he’s the best artist I’ve come across since Prince. He was literally diagnosed with limes disease and given the wrong meds, and they thought it was crazy and he spent 10 years and basically a psych ward he said that his body hurts so much from the lung disease that it even hurts to take a shower all he could do was write in bed, after the first year, he told his mom if he had to go through another year of it he doesn’t think that he would be able to do it and he just wanted to let her know then. His best friend committed suicide. He saw what it did to his family so that is the only thing that kept him from doing it himself. That’s all I’ll share with you for now, but I look forward to some more reactions. Nice job man. Money game parts one through three are awesome but when you watch the tales of Jenny and screech and the third part is called violets tale. if you’d like storytelling, you’re not gonna find a better cold story than that and if you think about how the hell he wrote that he’s a genius and how he wrote this, but this is actually his life the other is about someone else’s life actually three peoples lives .

I loved your reaction, so I subscribed in hopes you will dive into Ren's catalog. If you like bands, Ren also has music under The Big Push and even Trick the Fox (if you are curious about Ren's beginnings). Ren is one of the most versatile artist of this generation I come across him Dec 2022 and have been following ever since. They are very distracting and we worry that you may be reading those incorrect lyrics instead of listening intently to the actual message and absorbing the overall visual that Ren and his cameraman create. Another new Renegade sub. Sounds like you get the message. Ren is unique and very inspiring. He has chosen to shine light and speak for the chronically ill ,physical and mental. He has struggled with Lyme disease and mental ilkness and addiction, being misdiagnosed and inappropriately medicated since he was 19 . He still deals with the ongoing damage and daily pain. He endures and overcomes. Plus he is fun, and very intelligent. Just won't be put in a box. I signed up for the ride. Please do Sick Boi. It is the continuation of Hi Ren, sort of. Different vibe all together.

Ren Gill talks about DARK TOPICS! 100%.
However, in real life, he is a mild mannered, well-spoken man who has really been through the ringer. He was misdiagnosed for EIGHT years. Bed ridden. Final results: Lyme disease (and bipolar, I believe). 2 of his childhood friends committed suicide. Suicide is a common theme. Mental health and illness is another. He’s getting treatment in Canada for the Lyme disease. With all that they did to him, it left him allergic to something like 95% of all foods. He can eat meat and starches (potatoes)…. Not much else. He has a huge heart and so humble. A kind soul who is ridiculously talented and creative. You’ll never see the same thing twice from him. I thoroughly enjoyed his interview with Knox Hill. Just a relatable man who wanted to die during his misdiagnosed near decade. After he was on the loss side of suicide, he knew that he didn’t want to hurt his mother (she took care of him 100% when he was bedridden). Music saved him from the doldrums. I hope you really understand the messages he sends because they’re dark, but they’re meaningful messages nonetheless. ❤
Also, his videos are ALL done in 1 take. He’s just a genius. Really went through a rough time during his illness (that’s still not gone yet). Amazing performance every single time. The camera work is incredible, too. In “The Tale of Screech and Jenny”, it’s superb. 🫶🏼🤗👏🏻
The part when he made that weird sound and the lights flickered, that was his real-life ECT treatments (shocks) on his brain. He truly had them when they misdiagnosed him. The spoken ending ARE FACTS. He also said that he’s thankful for reactors and that he’d never copy strike anyone from using his music. He’s very appreciative of fresh eyes and he does watch some reactors.

I love Ren, but as soon as you identified as a drill sergeant, I went on a long internet search for my old DS. That was back in the 70s. He was a Vietnam vet and my favorite person in the military. I wish I could have found ANYTHING on him. Would love to have a clue to how his life went.

Ren went years misdiagnosed with depression bi polar chronic fatigue syndrome he had a recording deal with Sony in 2010 why working on his album he got sick and couldn't finish it so they parted ways he moved back to Wales he would become bedridden for up 23 hours a day it the meds they had him on caused him to have psychosis he got PTSD too but not from the meds it would take years before he would get the right diagnosis he has Lyme disease he has had 2 stem cell transplants done he went so long misdiagnosed he has brain damage Organ damage Joint damage he in Canada right now getting treatment done he has to have IV 5 days a week they put this thing on his head that help open path ways in his brain he has ADHD too he can only eat like 2 kinds of beef and few vegetables because the autoimmune causes his body to have allergic reaction to just about everything he eats he has to take hand full meds 2 times a day ren play guitar bass drum Piano he produces his own music mixes his own beats beatboxes sings and can rap ren had Number 1 album in Uk last year with Sick Boi
