My boss had a 'burban in the early '70s. It had the big 454. But, it wasn't designed for speed, but, for hauling, both ppl,cargo, & towing. But, when I would floor it on the highway, U certainly heard the big block.
We as Americans really tend to take our vehicles for granted. During the short time I was in Europe I saw older cars all of the time if my memory serves me correct.
