Lunduke is a quack, and I say that with all the respect he's due. He's gone from someone reputable in the Linux sphere to someone who's eccentric views can't be trusted.
@@TheLinuxCast I told you before and all you did was report brigade my responses then post screenshots to X and mastodon that carefully cropped out me fact checking your lies. Come now, aren't you supposed to be a linux toober? Put in some elbow grease for once in your life...
When I was younger, I would have agreed with that rude argument. Since then, however, I've worked on an open source project of my own, and I've actually built up some experience in the world of software development. Being rude, I've found, is counterproductive. You either discourage people, or you just succeed in angering them. Someone who is angry will likely not learn from the mistakes they have made and is unlikely to do what had been asked from them. Resulting in more lost productivity down the line. The only time when being rude is effective is when being nice is ineffective. Even then, it is often better to just stick to insulting the work done and not the person who had done the work. "This code sucks" is better than "my grandmother could write better code."
"Well can you bring your grandma here" "My grandma died" "LMAO" Yeah it promotes that kind of work. They confused rude with directness. Tell me that my code sucks and how can I improve it. Don't tell me that it's a good day and I have to guess what you actually want to say.
When I first switched to Linux, Lunduke used to give his political opinion all the time, then he got backlash in the comments because he suggest Mozilla was funding Antifa, and suddenly decided to claim 'no politics' on his supposed 'tech' channel. Stallman is a strange guy, but he is a staunch defender of Free Software which is why many people wanted him back in the Linux foundation. In fact, Lunduke turned around and wanted Stallman out at one point, I guess he found out that Stallman wasn't conservative.
Man, I must have been watching him before he went all radical. I don't remember him ever giving his political opinion back in the day. At some point he just kinda vanished from my radar. I completely forgot he existed until this video.
@@henrickbull He used talk about breaking up Google, about DRM video, digital privacy. All kinds of stuff that would have been politics related to tech. But then he decided 'no politics' after he suggested some open-source projects were funding radical groups. (I still haven't seen any proof of that was true.) then he left RUclips to go to Odysee and came back after a few years or so.
Lunduke is hardly conservative. It's just the left has gone so far out into the loony left field that anyone to the right of Mao Tse Tung is considered a fascist.
I don't think anyone can ever be completely apolitical in any type of content. Absolutely anything can be considered political to some because politics affects anything and everything, it's just a matter of how different your political views are before any of your actions/opinions start to become political. Some people say they are avoiding politics just to push their political opinions and having others believe they're an innocent apolitical person getting attacked by angry political activists.
If you sincerely believe that you should be able to define politics objectively and then tell me how a 10 second video featuring a guinea pig eating a strawberry is in any way political. Also how do politics affect rocks on Pluto in any way?
@@gensoustudio4703I don't think you can objectively define anything but people can for political reasons take issues with the content of those videos. Ethical vegans probably don't like such animal videos lol.
@@AndersHass I didn't know "ethical vegans" cared about the consumption of strawberries, since they're all about animal products. lol. But still doesn't address the rocks on Pluto. Still what you just said illustrates the contradiction. One can not simultaneously claim "Absolutely anything can be considered political to some because politics affects anything and everything" without being able to objectively define it in a way where it does exactly that. You're not just saying there is some hypothetical insane person that considers any random thing political, you're saying their insane belief would have truth since politics affect "anything and everything". Which would mean "politics" is an observer independent phenomena or some sort of truth about reality itself. It also falls apart if you lack an objective definition because the insane person's consideration of what is political can be dismissed by anyone.
@@gensoustudio4703 Everything is politics, even a "10 second video featuring a guinea pig eating a strawberry". Maybe the result isn't meant to be political, but the process is. What is the video's objective? What tools are used? On what platform the is video hosted? Etc…
This will definitely stir the hornet's nest, but this is well made. I appreciate you for making this video.

why? It's just a very dishonest, biased attempt to cancel Lunduke. Dude wants to make his ideology the only accepted standard. He's a fanatical cultist which gets triggered if people don't use his vocabulary like "deadname" or "transgender"; he thinks he has the right to impose these on everyone.
@ yeah sure, not like the people who get triggerd by people using the words deadname, transgender, or just people going by a different name they chose themself.

@@Alex_Vir it's not really a trigger, at least not like the original concept from psychiatry. There is no trauma involved. Just a deep intellectual disagreement, along with the perception that no one can use these words honestly. Transgender specifically is self-contradictory in the own terms of the ideology that created it, so much that it's usual to see someone saying something like "a trans[gender] woman is a woman"
Such a shame. I think it was really smart for Linux users to own the meme "Linux sucks" and use it as an opportunity to constructively criticize our own shortcomings. Because that's what it takes to be progressive. Ironic how important it is to him to conserve the status quo.
As sad as it it to say. For Richard Stallman's case: There is no great genius without some touch of madness said Aristotle. He's still the one who initiated the whole ass thing.
@@AviatorXD Check the proportions of code contributions from individuals to those of companies. That's tangental though; It is libertarian simply because it doesn't aim to restrict anyone.
@uhruojlmao... Marx rolling his grave "Stateless, classless Society" Libertarian is pro companies. If a company like idk... Microsoft had idk, outsized impact on the market, and could say, lobby/bribe the education system (private, public, doesn't matter) to use microsoft's operating system. Then that environment wouldn't exactly allow Linux to exist (I mean it can. But that's really against the odds now is it.)
33:20 the story wasn't even about a 3 year old child, it was a story that *started* when the child was three, and clearly discusses the child getting older. If I write the story of my life and start it at age 5, that doesn't mean I am 5 years old.
Politely disagree with your opinion. Linux been shifting from a community based to a corporate based, and no one can deny that. Companies have their economic interest and sometimes political agendas. That destroys the main purpose of OpenSource.
Just a note for the editor, you should really consider making those text corrections like "he still has it" appear on the screen for a little longer. You don't want to try to be funny by showing something that only some will see, you want all people to see that correction otherwise it's pointless.
@@niccoloveslinuxthe problem is they weren't up long enough for someone watching on a phone to stop the video. By the time you can get it stopped the comment is gone. Skip back 10 seconds, try again, repeat.
Especially the people claiming it, because it didn't happen. The FBI framed protestors. It's not illegal to request a recount, but I would assume it is illegal to deny a recount request and claim that doing so was an insurrection. But what about electors or whatever nonsense? Didn't happen. Talking about it, and doing it are separate things, plus it would then go to court. You don't get to just unilaterally declare insurrection. If anything the insurrection was on the other side. There were enough shenanigans that a real investigation would turn up rocks preferred hidden. So there's OFFICIALLY NOTHING, and declaring something that doesn't exist is a sign of insanity. Also hiring practices based on race and gender is ILLEGAL. If it wasn't, the first thing extreme racists would do is discriminate against all minorities. You have to be COMPLETELY INSANE to support discriminatory hiring practices. People hate it so much they're willing to go back to Jim Crow as retaliation. Politics do NOT belong in the workplace, or any product sold to consumers like video games. Discrimination is illegal no matter who does it, for good reason. The melting pot doesn't work otherwise. This nonsense stirs up trouble, and destroys the fabric of society. Stop being toxic, and get along with other people. There is no benefit if said benefit isn't equally applied.

I remember Stallman showed up at DTU back in like 2014 or so, and I was there. While he was advocating for his position he was also pulling the skin from between his toes and eating it. This is why the FSF isn’t popular. 😂
I can see he has been at the Technical University of Denmark multiple times. I am no psychiatrist but it does sound like he has autism (like me, I do not eat the skin between my toes though, lol). Edit: My point isn't that you gotta eat the skin between your toes in order to be autistic (otherwise I wouldn't be autistic, lol). My basis for Stallman being autistic is way more than the toe skin eating ordeal.
what...What...WHAT seriously WHAT r u saying that someone actually pulls of dead skin n eats it? nah must be a joke....someone post a link n prove me wrong
Every time I decide to give that guy another chance I wind up disgusted, writing 10000 words in a comment and then realizing I don't want to deal with the results of posting it. Thanks for daring to actually cover this stuff and so sorry for everything stupid that probably happened as a result, you are doing the Lord's work here.
I love how this watches a lot like a "Hsexyguy" video (didn't think we'd notice that?). Especially the outro. I half expected you to bust through the wall at one point. Keep doing your thing, Nicco. In my opinion, you're one of the most watchable Linux content channels.
Thank you for this video Nicco, excellent quality as usual! I almost wish you also published a longer more complete version of this video that includes all your swears (obviously in Italian)
5:20 Stallman is talking about a single person, who was his friend and colleague for a long time, not about all the island visitors and all the children in general, even your screenshot shows that. It's really disingenious to present him as some pro-pedo advocate, as a lot of people did.
I don't get it. What part of "only an adult can give consent properly" is hard to understand? Anyway, I also am into "none of that matter to linux itself" way.
Today I stumbled upon his "Linux Sucks 2024" video. As I remembered some videos by the same name I started watching: at first concerning, my worries lasted no more than a few minutes as the lack of sources except from himself and some mysterious "inside whistleblowers" made it obvious that all he was saying was either made up or twisted in order to support his point of view. Luckily among the suggested videos there was your response. By the way, weren't there some specular "Linux Is Awesome" videos or something like that by the same author? Hopefully I'm not mistaking him for somebody else.
I am of two minds as a trans person in this community. On the one hand, I really appreciate how Linux is this space where we all work together in the name of freedom. And I really genuinely think that liberty is more important than my own political views. I'm happy that Linux acts as a meeting place where the sides the world is currently so heavily polarised into can come together and work on something and see that we all at least do support freedom. On the other hand transphobia ain't fun to experience and it can be jarring to realise that you're in a space where a lot of people are hostile towards you for who you are. I understand the logic behind people who support liberty so strongly also wanting the liberty to say what they want. I also understand how it could feel like Linux is losing some aspect of its focus on liberty by people getting kicked out for things like being transphobic. But then equally, me wanting to live as the person I am is also a matter of liberty. And as much as the people saying they just want to speak their disdain for me can say that, I also can't help but notice that they don't really like being harassed by people on the internet either. I appreciate this video Nicco. It is genuinely nice to see an explicitly trans positive space. I hope you take care of your mental health and that you look after yourself if this kicks off into a bigger thing. Genuinely if you're burnt out and if you end up finding that making videos like this gets you hate and that makes things harder, remember that you're already doing so much good for the world as is. Much more than most people do. You're obviously a very altruistic person and the world is lucky to have you.
It's as they say: "Your right to swing your fist around ends at the tip of my nose." Aka, your rights ends when they start affecting others. There's a reason why hate speech is called such a thing, nobody has the "human right" to oppress and bully others into submission. Its a cowardly tactic. Bigots have no place in the linux community.
The problem is that currently it does not resemble equality, but rather the promotion of all minorities at the expense of those who cannot count on special treatment. Additional points in studies only for your orientation, skin color or gender. Special, free courses only for women, etc. According to regulations in Poland, a woman working in the cold must be given a warm meal if she consumes a certain amount of calories while working. But a man will get such a meal if he uses twice as much energy. Did you know that in Poland women retire 5 years earlier than men? And men live 10 years shorter. We have a public pension system like most European countries, if you are from the US the concept may be a bit abstract but it is discrimination. I'm disabled and I probably won't live to see retirement, so fuck this "equality".
I'm sorry you've experienced transphobia in the community. I hope you know that the vast majority of folks I've interacted with are allies. You're welcome here, and we will back you up.
oh this guy, lunduke! yeah, I ran into a Reddit post that said OpenSuse was banning people who are not allies of LGBT+ and so I tried to find the sources behind it, finding very little about it on google. The ones I did find came from this guy, Lunduke. So I looked further in and found that it was a whole lot of nothing, Lunduke seemingly doesn't understand how nested replies work.
Oh ok, you talked about it at the 48 minute mark or so. He stated that the community admin, (who he names) in an opensuse forum said the "rotten piece of flesh" part, but they didn't actually say it, they were replying to the member who said the "offensive remark" and it was a neutral response. Having had spent what felt like an hour+ chasing this smoke and not finding fire, I mentally labeled Lunduke a kid who cries wolf and should never been taken seriously.
3:05 Hey, Nicco. The "Nigh" from "End is Nigh" is pronounced as "N-eye", not "Night". Just wanted to clarify that. I know you're not a native english speaker. 🙂
also, also, I had no idea that you were PD affiliated and I want to let you know that that I voted PD in 2022, but only because it was the least bad option on the table (and strategic voting ofc)
@@niccoloveslinux Pretty much same situation for me, sometimes to rotate a bit I also voted for +Europa but it's always between those two parties that I decide. I actually find it extremely odd that someone like Luke from the opposite end of the political spectrum compared to us cares about Linux and the FSF ideology, my best guess is that he did not understand it fully.
@@plarpoon I'm not surprised. People who are against any kind of external limitation are correlated both with free software, as in freedom from companies and privacy from governments, and far right wing politics, being against the government intervening in any form

How possible could diversity hiring be interpreted any other way then discriminatory hiring? If you weigh in factors a candidate have no power over in their employment process, that is the very definition of discriminatory hiring, is it not?
That's the issue of not hiring on merits / accomplishments alone. Both "not being Diverse" and "being Diverse" is a loosing conversation. You'll get lambasted no matter what side you lie on. Personally hire the right person for the job based on their "fit" aka can they do the job and are they the best candidate, etc.
That is the issue with discriminatory hiring, it lowers thebquelity of work regardless of intention, since it requires that unrelated and unimportant factors related to the task become a deciding factor. It does not matter which group or race someone targets, when they introduce those policies, performance drops and the rate of mistakes increase. So far every company that has done those discriminatory hiring practices, have run into issues.
They should hire solely on merits alone, and I'm not talking about gender diversity merits, or racial merits, but actual positions that matter. That being said, they shouldn't only look at degrees, but actual work history. Diversity hire is in fact, discriminatory, both ways.
@@yosutzuhruoj The issue is people don't do that, the legislation exists because otherwise these people would only hire mediocre people that look and act like them. Your assumption is based on the idea that with no legislation people wouldn't be hiring in bigoted ways, but that's what was happening. There have been studies where people found that even if a candidate with a black sounding name applied for the same position and had the same or even better qualifications they would consistently choose the person with the white sounding name every single time. These kinds of laws exist specifically because people were not hiring skilled effective workers simply because the person involved was not white, male, etc. They were instead going for mediocre white male candidates.
@@commanderboo8879 The US already has the civil rights act, which bars the discrimination you're referring to, and can be used as precedent to sue companies who have been found to discriminate on such bases. Several if not most European countries have the same - it's entirely pointless and discriminatory to hire solely based on immutable characteristics and you should know this.

A bit late to but recently I made response to *a comment* in one of his videos, disagreeing with one take-away a guy had about this video, wasn't even something about "politics" just a comment made in bad faith I wanted to correct. Later that day I get a notification from that comment thread only to see that my comment was deleted, no politics is only when I disagree with you, literal echo chamber there, it's sad.
RUclips automatically deletes/hides comments now. It happened to me and others on numerous occasions, this is most likely triggered by one or multiple "trigger words", even if you quote someone else. I double and triple checked the comments i made with incognito mode, other browser, and VPN. In my comment history they appear fine, but nobody can see them.
There was a time when I watched his work and kinda agreed with him (tech-wise). I very nearly funded his studio project. I even bought one of his existing System76 systems when he was upgrading back in 2018. (I only *just* moved it to server duty.) But as you mentioned, his politics and tech blend way more often than he claims, and when I reached out to ask him a question back in 2020 regarding Framework, he responded with a sentence in response to my actual question, then a paragraph about why he didn't think I should be involved in tech anymore. As far as I could tell from that email, his rational was that "trans people are invading Linux and ruining it", but at that point I was already on the fence about following him anymore (he'd just started his commentary on the pandemic), and so I decided he didn't need to be a part of my online experience. It's a real shame, because from a pure tech point-of-view, early Lunduke was fun and interesting. A sad "never meet your heros" moment for sure. EDIT: Wanna add that 2020 was when I first changed my name, including in my email client. I still hadn't updated my email address, and had previous communications with him prior as part of buying the computer, so he was at least passingly familiar with who I was. Just in-case there's some confusion on how he found out. It's not something I would have told him otherwise at the time, cause I was pretty sure he wasn't gonna be kind about it.
At the end of the day - Money Talks and BS walks - If you don't agree with a content creator or someone you interact with then choose not to support them, or better yet leave the politics at the door. That's how I'm treating these sort of situations.
I'm not too familiar in linux. but getting older I have felt the divide. It's hard enough for individuals to understand people they don't know it takes time, and in the work force it's not about making friends as doing a good job. My experience with trans in the work place is more of tip toeing and working around them. I've dated trans, been offered engagement, but at work it's different, Had them break down. There can be a lot of emotional baggage. So to that degree I can understand the nervousness of the fear of the unknown. Not every job comes with stress, I can understand why he may fear with deadlines, but ultimately trans are here to stay. I have no knowledge of the guy himself to say. But rather than look down on your hero. You could question what it was that brought him to that level of dissidence. It may not retort to you, but maybe there is a line he's fixated on. That he's had to deal with. But he allowed his emotions to get the best of him. don't let it stop you from your goals in life.
@@HomikaGamingi've seen the same type of thing. i have friends and relatives who have transitioned, so in general i support the trans community not being discriminated against and getting fair treatment. on the other hand, you have the trans equivalent of the feminazis who are only interested in promoting trans under every circumstance, and who's effect is just to annoy everyone to the point that they don't want to hear anything about trans any more. these people should just learn when to shut up so as to stop harming their cause.
The internet has in general made a lot of people deranged. I don't understand the attack to Rob Braxman. He talks about how to avoid tracking, mainly for jornalists in exposed countries with dictatorships or other abusive government regimes. He is a pretty chill guy as well and yeah, there's the trying to sell his phone thing which is a good reason to be suspicious, but besides that, I don't have knowledge of anything bad happening there. Could you elaborate please?
To put it lightly, Braxman also slips up in many videos about politics that don't make sense to integrate with his channel. Not to mention that the info he gives shows he is either misinformed, trying to scam people, or some combination of the 2.
This video is false advertisement. The title suggests that this video is a rebuttal of Lundukes series of talks, but what we got instead is about an hour criticising adjacent things like his character or his politics. A tiny fraction of the video is devoted to addressing the purported topic. I don't care how bad his political takes are or whatever, I came here because I wanted a well-founded defence of linux. If your not going to talk about this, just name this video to something more in line with its content like "Lunduke Sucks" or whatever. You don't have to promise technical content and deliver political content instead like him
so... you disagree with his politics, therefore his linux sucks series sucks. I watched the whole of this, and the main critique is that he has opinions. And locals is proprietary. So here I just see you attacking his politics and character, but there is really nothing else here. What a disgrace.
Many things Lunduke discusses don't really interest me and it mostly is very dramatic but I like to have some stark different opinions from time to time. It helps me not to fall into echo chambers and seeing a broader image overall - especially if I don't agree with something. Even if it's annoying that he focuses so much on it - I don't know other sources with similar news he shares.
He makes a very good point though - very little of the money received by the foundation pays for development of GNOME and KDE. It'd be nice if these projects received more funding. Imagine what they'd be able to do with just 10% of LF's revenue.
48:45 Something else to note here, is that the paradox of tolerance can pretty easily be solved by recognizing it as a social contract, instead of a moral obligation. One loses the rights to the social contract of tolerance when they violate it themselves. Given that intolerance from one group will always degrade and override tolerance from another, maintaining that social contract goes even further by making the active acceptance of intolerance a new growth for that intolerance. It's exactly what the phrase "The only thing evil needs to succeed is for good men to do nothing" is saying.
You know what sucks, all these shows about Linux posing as Linux news being actually cheap entertainment. This is the time to be a real journalist, still people shove entertainment down our throat, I had enough, good luck and good bye.
Wow. Incredibly well done. I was hesitant to watch something drawing more attention to Lunduke and generally my policy is to deplatform and just not talk about transphobic, conspiracy theorist folks but it is important for people to understand why so many in the community have done so. It's not some coordinated liberal conspiracy or whatever, we just, you know, don't think it's healthy to give attention and mind space to someone spreading hate and conspiracies about ourselves or our friends. Thank you for making and sharing this as the definitive “Why no Lunduke” source.
thank you so much for this video. youtube started showing up some lunduke videos some time ago and since i didnt know any context about him, i watched them and took the information as is. i also dont really know much about linux as well, so i just took the content as valuable and interesting, since i myself am pretty new to this whole space. i started to notice that he is a weird character with lots of weird beliefs i dont share which made it easier for me to take his content with a grain of salt, but still it was hard for me to figure out, what stuff he makes up and what is actually true. he made a video about firefox and how bad it's gonna be with the new updates, and i am still not sure, what to believe since i have not seen anybody else really talk about this that seems more trustworthy and since the topic often overcharges me (i dont know if you say it like this, its just a lot for me) and it seems to be hard to stay informed with all the things happening at once. i think it is dangerous that people who are interested in linux and tech stuff, but are new to the space are confronted with creators such as lunduke, luke smith etc without any context on their weird conspiratory beliefs and its important to make this a space where conspiracies, homo- or transphobia and just in general right wing narratives are kept out of.
How about the other side? Should that be kept out, too? What about NixOS leaders talking about the need for a "purge", because some don't want to wave their flag? Not actively going against it, mind you. Those people pushed for a "purge", because some simply wanted to be left alone, not having to express allegiance one way or the other. What about that "do as we tell you or else" attitude?
@pelic9608 I don‘t really know what you refer to and therefore can‘t judge this. either way I don‘t think there‘s two „sides“ to this? I think, like I said, that Lunduke is a character that shouldn‘t get the attention he may be getting because he spreads harmful stuff. that is the case for every person that does so. Of course a „purge“ is a very violent and destructive thing to ask for and I think if this is somebodies choice of words in no matter what political context, they should be held accountable. But there‘s no two sides to judging people based off what destructive messages they spread, no matter where on the political spectrum you may find yourself. You can always criticise others constructively and distance yourself from them, even if you may line up with some things they say. But if you spread homo- or transphobia, racism, sexism or whatever, you are part of the problem
I first watched Lunduke many years ago (like more than 10 years ago), didn't pick up on the politics too much at the time. And its always possible that I just never caught one of the videos with the political themes at the time. I haven't watched his videos like at all in like 7 or 8 years at this point, but his videos have popped up more and more for me on the recommended page. His far right views have been on very blatant display in every single one of them.
oh my god. i had been saying Lunduke was Nazi since 2015 people are just realizing it. He is a genuine Nazi brother, and he doesn't even try to hide to anymore. I've see him say Nazi shit irl and people made me fun of me back then.
Did Lunduke actually do all that shit he said? Like "I worked for every big open source company in every position" and all that stuff he says he did to assert his authority. Someone should check if he really has all that experience. Hard not to get suspicious he is inflating his credentials a little or maybe a lot.
Preface- thank you for reading this if you do. I’m new to using linux but I’ve been curious about it for a while now and am really enjoying the journey. I think it’s sad for people to be so exclusionary in the community as it prevents progress and empowers the corporations that suppress. The people who are the loudest do not represent most and it gives the community a bad rep imo. I think that freedom and equality are cores of the concept of FOSS/Linux. We should embrace that. Doubling down on insane takes for someone who is in the public eye is always a bad move. Excluding people who want things to work and a stable is experience is so weird. Imposing your beliefs on others and stripping away their agency while also whining about your freedom is inherently amoral and contradictory. Individualist societies naturally cause division and suppress everyone. They prevent the true nature of humanity and the rise of the proletariat. The root cause of all evil is money and power. We continue to repeat history and we will until we are not so self obsessed.
odysee not moderating their platform is not true, what actually happens is that a member of odysee staff will leave a comment on your page asking you to take it down. I had this happen to a friend of mine. my friend uploaded thousands of videos for archival purposes and he didn't know which ones would be bad for the platform, so he asked to take his channel off of the odysee platform. also note that event though you can't see his posts through odysee, the odysee seeder still seeds the videos through the lbry network. they do remove some content immediately though. not sure what qualifies for immediate deletion, but I assume it's DMCA related.
not only is their moderation not adequate, but it's corrupt, as the dude who asked my friend to delete the videos was using his connections with the odysee staff to get them to take down the videos because he was using their site.
The idea that the LBRY team had was really great and truly something special. The problem is it was most sabotaged by the Odysee team. There's still no way to do administrative things with your account except contacting them via email or Discord, the moderation tools are terrible (probably on purpose), and they got involved in the big SEC lawsuit they could never win. Because blockchain, deleting your account for creators like me and Niccolo is impossible and even if you do, posers will take your handle and could possibly misrepresent you.

If the masses don't even care how smartphones app sucks compared to PC, how could we fill the gap between the savvy and the regular users? But mostly, is it so necessary? The IT field needs customers. Customers does damages or get damaged in several ways. We need this circle in order to don't run out of business.
Great video. Summarizing the issue with a certain person. With all that is going on. Motivates me to maybe bring out more Linux specific videos again on my channel. Dried out a bit since people are crazy about smartphone cameras and not so much about package managers, desktops or the linux command line 😂

No, he did not offer a summary. Instead, he offered a very long video trying to cancel Lunduke, with many lies intertwined with half-truths and ideological absolutism where his own ideology is the only acceptable moral standard (that we can see with cultist vocabulary like "deadname").

People who claim to be apolitical are either deliberately lying to sell their politics or are ignorant of how political their life actually is. This is why it's important to actually understand what they're saying and how it relates to the political atmosphere. i.e. "cancel" only exists for conservatives, medical options are political only for conservatives, etc
@@FineWine-v4.0 literally in this video, the man in question did. Conservatives in the US currently are pushing for healthcare to not apply for the LGBTQ+ community. There was a law in Florida passed to prevent healthcare being provided to trans people. Currently across the US, in conservative states, trans and gay people are prevented by law or social condition to not get healthcare. People do politicize healthcare. Hell, the idea of private vs public healthcare is a political discussion. I have no idea what you're referring to when you say that no one calls healthcare political.
I am seriously impressed by the amount of work you put into this video. The Opensuse community regularly has people asking questions that are clearly informed by Lunduke’s FUD and lies. The man has no integrity. I used to think that he knows he is lying because he makes it up (because like many creators on the US radical right he has learnt it is a great grift). It's not. The video is filled with exaggerations, misrepresentations, even some outright lies, not to mention the ideological absolutism of Nicco that "feels like crying" when a person does not follow his newspeak (e.g. Deadname) or twisted morality. It's a video where Nicco asks again and again for people to consider _not_ associating with Lunduke, that is, it is an attempt at cancelling him. (I've posted a longer response but youtube shadowbanned my comment)
While I do agree with you on most points, the fact that "men are awesome" cuts your ears as something inherently political, and the fact you can't even acknowledge that hiring based on a skin color is an inherently racist practice outs you as someone at the very least just as, if not more politically radical than Lunduke.

Well done, Nicco! I know this video was very difficult to make, and I also learned Lunduke's true beliefs the hard way, after he accused openSUSE of various bigotries. No one should be giving him any sort of platform, even under the guise of trying to "understand" him.
I was hoping this video would go into why the talk sucked and not the host, I don't particularly care for lunduke but 90% of the video was just complaining about him
This is informative and unfortunate. I will say, though, that I heavily disagree with your bit on Brodie. I can't in good conscience hold Brodie accountable for just talking to someone who has unsavory views. It's the old adage that RT != endorsement. I don't think we can live by a standard that would judge Brodie for talking to Lunduke, and not even endorsing his opinions.
True though, most of Nicco points are valid but I'm still not assuming bad faith on Brodie, maybe he hadn't known about Lunduke's terrible deeds or don't know the extent of that, and he didn't seem to endorse it either. Even I even know some of Lunduke's problematic behaviours (like deadnaming trans people) but didn't know how bad he is. I'm a closeted queer and has met unsavory people, but I cut the contact immediately after finding out, and if someone accuse me of being the same of that person it would ve absurd.
I also think the mindset you said can be very dangerous since I have witnessed that on Mastodon. I mean look at how some toxic admins like .art admins frame people as being unsavory just by having association and interact just even one bad person (even worse most of their so-called bad people were just being falsely accused).
"Well can you bring your grandma here"
"My grandma died"
"LMAO"
Yeah it promotes that kind of work.

Truth imo. Saying you "don't do politics" is the same as saying you don't believe in gravity.

Freedom of speech should be a responsibility, not an excuse. I appreciate that you are more aware of its seriousness than people like Lunduke.

The US already has the civil rights act, which bars the discrimination you're referring to, and can be used as precedent to sue companies who have been found to discriminate on such bases.

No the main critique is that those opinions suck. The problem is not having opinions, the problem is being an unlikeable asshole.

He became a fatalist years ego while mascarading it with long strings of "i loooooove this and that but"
KDE Plasma 6 on FreeBSD is sooo good :P Long Live *BSD :P
Many things Lunduke discusses don't really interest me and it mostly is very dramatic but I like to have some stark different opinions from time to time. It helps me not to fall into echo chambers and seeing a broader image overall - especially if I don't agree with something.
Even if it's annoying that he focuses so much on it - I don't know other sources with similar news he shares.
amazing video, hope you continue to do more!
My body is ready
Appreciate this and all your grueling labor
He makes a very good point though - very little of the money received by the foundation pays for development of GNOME and KDE. It'd be nice if these projects received more funding. Imagine what they'd be able to do with just 10% of LF's revenue.
Ye well developers of open source projects also need some money for their own lives and not use it all for the project.
Given Gnomes bad of the name Lunduke on their forum, this should probably be reanalyzed.
What's the problem with "political" content? What the hell is "non political" anyway?
thank you so much for this video. youtube started showing up some lunduke videos some time ago and since i didnt know any context about him, i watched them and took the information as is. i also dont really know much about linux as well, so i just took the content as valuable and interesting, since i myself am pretty new to this whole space. i started to notice that he is a weird character with lots of weird beliefs i dont share which made it easier for me to take his content with a grain of salt, but still it was hard for me to figure out, what stuff he makes up and what is actually true. he made a video about firefox and how bad it's gonna be with the new updates, and i am still not sure, what to believe since i have not seen anybody else really talk about this that seems more trustworthy and since the topic often overcharges me (i dont know if you say it like this, its just a lot for me) and it seems to be hard to stay informed with all the things happening at once. i think it is dangerous that people who are interested in linux and tech stuff, but are new to the space are confronted with creators such as lunduke, luke smith etc without any context on their weird conspiratory beliefs and its important to make this a space where conspiracies, homo- or transphobia and just in general right wing narratives are kept out of.

Did Lunduke actually do all that shit he said? Like "I worked for every big open source company in every position" and all that stuff he says he did to assert his authority.
