    It’s very interesting to note throughout this entire CNBC presentation there was no discussion about safety.

    Because of the US economy's importance to the global economy, its instability has far-reaching implications. In such circumstances, safe-haven assets such as those with high FA and cryptocurrencies provide security. Investors must prioritize asset protection, diversification, and balanced portfolios in order to weather market volatility.

      Yep, and the fake 893 miles of range (Fake because it's a bad standards-based mileage) ... if you're draining that just being in traffic, wow, not good. We have a Tesla Model Y LR and it tops out at 320 miles of EPA range. We very rarely have it charging to 100% and even when we do for long road trips, in the past year+ of ownership, I've realized we really didn't even need to do that. There has been more than enough access to charging when or if we'd have needed it. Some of my longest trips so far have been 4.5 hours and we only used 60% of the range while passing 3 charging stations we could have stopped at if we wanted to.

      @mathewherges397 26 дней назад +1

      Yeah, good point. So, even if they "solved" that problem it would mean a decent amount of time before the swap would begin because they'd have to do an underbody car wash to make sure they didn't keep impacting the salt into the battery connections. Also, heat all the things to be sure ice didn't form or that if there was ice that it would thaw so they could get the battery out. Yeah, battery swapping is stupid for sure. 🤣

Why is it only Chinese companies that can do this? I can maybe believe that BYD is more efficient since they are more vertical integrated but a company like Geely who owns Polestar and Volvo, why is it that only the Chinese segments of Geely can sell cars so cheap but Polestar and Volvo cant even if they have access to the same supply chains and tech and even share some production lines with Geely etc?

    Unlike the USA and Europe, there is a huge population of Chinese that live in huge apartment towers that lack the charging infrastructure in the parking lots to accommodate the number of people buying EVs in the cities. The battery swapping model may not be ideal or practical in the USA or for Tesla (who has the resources to build a global Supercharger network) but in China, it allows the sale of millions of more EVs today than would otherwise be possible if they had to wait several years for the installation of enough charging stations in the parking lots of these high-rise apartment buildings.

    I've been following BYD and Xpeng closely for years. Imo, BYD will be the dominant automaker pertaining to total sales. They'll surpass VW and Toyota to take that lead. Xpeng will also do well but not as well as BYD. Xpeng is new in the EV market but they're already flexing their manufacturing skills. They released a car this year and got 100k orders. They were only targeting making half of those but pivoted to increase production to match the pre-orders. Now it looks like they'll reach that 100k fulfillment. This proves they can ramp up extremely fast.
    Tesla should continue to do well long term but may take a hit in the short term as their European sales are slumping the last couple of quarters. Their California sales are down about 25% this year too which isn't good news as California is their largest EV market in the states.
    I figure their sales will be flat this year vs last year, maybe a slight increase but nothing worth mentioning. It's all going to depend on Tesla next vehicle to know a clearer picture. And how long before it comes out. They can lean on the 3 and Y but as more time passes without their next product, they'll lose some market share. The cybertruck may slightly move the needle next year for revenue but they're still be in ramp mode and recouping development Cost.
    Once autonomy is solved and approved by countries to drive, Tesla will dominate. Until then, I think Tesla stays relatively flat in their auto business but booming in their energy business. Once their cheap car gets released, which I think it'll be before autonomy is approved, they'll be back on track with high growth.

    #1 Rule/Formula for writing a successful news "story" in 2024: Use Tesla or Elon in headline and then sprinkle in how Tesla/Elon are being challenged or questioned or rumors about how they might have done something bad somewhere sometime, then mention all the other players that are about to take the crown and how that will lead to the downfall of this mercurial leader and all his companies that probably have too much control and power (and absolutely do not mention Black Rock, State Street, Fidelity, etc. and how much power they have over ALL the companies in the world); This strategy will get you lots of views, discussion and ad impressions, which is the most important thing because we live on ad revenue, this is MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE TRUTH!!! Now, go out there and do some great "journalism" comrades ;-)

It made me have significant skepticism that the FSD is ready for complete autonomy. Prior to investing in the robotaxi takeover of the world, I need to see a lot more data about non-driver-present FSD to really put anything behind it. Do a video on that.

They shouldn't be in the line up here. 800+ mile range WITH gas motor range extender... meaning its not on the same price trajectory as a full BEV as battery prices dive. Not sure if it would qualify restrictions on gas cars entering citys which would make them far less attractive.

    15:30 if battery swap time is less than half of charge time, then the range requirement is only half that of non swapping vehicles, which reduces battery size requirements by more than half, because of the lower weight as well. It could make sense in high density areas until charge time decreases. And since road trips are a very small portion of drives, you only need an extra 5% batteries above what goes in cars sold to customers, or thereabouts. But, overall, with the extra moving parts of battery swapping, it's not worth it. But stupidly dismissing out right it is stupid.

    Uber could fit cameras to all their taxis to collect driving data, which they could then sell to auto manufacturers. And Tesla could sell its data to other automanufacturers as well, if it doesn't mind the future competition - which I don't think it does. It's not necessarily the case, that each car manufacturer must create millions of cars with cameras and run them for 10 years in order to collect the data for themselves, just like the language models harvest data from other companies etc.

    As the legacy cos continue to flounder in the EV space, watch for them to do deals with the Chinese cos to badge Chinese vehicles with their brands and logos. Then finally to simply be subsumed by the Chinese cos. This is how they will access the brand-loyal customers in the rest of the world. It has already happened with Geely, that owns Volvo, and SAIC, that owns MG. This is going to continue on an increasingly large scale, especially in the EV space.
