I really wish Frankie didn't go yun. His Ken was doing pretty well, and Justin had just been fighting tons of yuns as warmup. I'm no top player, mind you, but I really feel like going yun was throwing a crucial game away for free. Good games anyways, great to see a Ken in winners side of grands

it would be interesting/cool if other characters like Dudley's strength was increased just a bit. i'm seeing a bunch of good punishment slams and then i look up at Chun's dmg to see barely any is taken off! Afterwards, two combos later from Chun and Dudley's dmg is at 1%.
As much as I love this game, I hate watching tournaments because Chun-Li ruins it. She's too easy to use effectively compared to the rest of the cast. Sure, Yun may be considered just as good as her, but look at how much effort and execution is required to use him.
That's why I love watching cooperation cup. Japanese players are so next level and they have a lot of low tier gods like Kuroda, Pierrot, PinoAB7, etc. Watching low tier masters beat up on lazy Chun Li pickers is VERY satisfying. I think the lack of diversity in the US is simply lack of imagination and dedication to the game.
3s is not a "true" SF game. It's a good game but not a pure SF. A3 and 3S kinda abandon the idea of keeping the spirit of SF games and are interesting in ways that the other games in the series are not for it.

I love 3rd Strike but the characters in Top 8 is a sleeper. It’s disappointing that this game favors the same 3 characters in high level play, I almost want a tournament that bans Chun-Li, Ken, and Yun. Oh well

It’s not always that black and white dude, there’s plenty of instances where low/mid tier characters make waves. Also this game has the parry mechanic so with the right strategy any character is viable (easier said than done tho). The easiest way to get started would be setting up Fightcade for your PC.Otherwise Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection or Third Strike Online Edition for 360/ps3 have training mode and are fine to get started.Arcade is the preferred version to play for tournaments though.

I'd recommend getting an arcade stick, Hori eX2 is a cheap stick that's great to learn on. I switched from Dpad to stick a few years ago and never looked back.
Sf3 came out back in 1999, when arcade games was extremely popular, so its designed to be played on arcade. MK11 is designed to be played on consoles/pc.
This is what's known as "event mode". It's designed to reset after a match because if a new match sits down to play, they have to wait until the winner of the last match has to be defeated. It's a forced reset.
by anymeans i don't prefer any player or dislike any player, but i really rooted for Jwong to win, because the every1 for some fucked up reason was cheering for the ken player... he hits a freaking link or parries anything and every1 is like "EHEEEEEEEEEEY" but on the otherhand the chunli player does amazing stuff or parries and you don't even hear a fucking cockroach saying "wooo".. glad chunli player won the tournament.
CPS3 Supergun setup, lots of information on them floating about online. We use them quite regularly in the UK, still not the same as an actual VS City cab but by far the next best thing.

@@fundiendoconronny I use a qanba Q4Raf with no issues, I've seen plenty controllers being used eg xbox and ps3, I dont think theres support for xbox one or ps4 but I think aslong as your stick has an xbox 360 mode it will be fine.
As much as I like 3S, tournament footage of this game is why 3S is known as the game that almost ruined SF. Not only is the character line-up pretty bad, but the balancing is horrible.
orig4mi It definitely almost did. In fact, the Alpha series was more so viewed as SF3 than SF3 was. Look it up. SF3 wasn’t and still isn’t too well-liked universally.
Tekken 3 almost had a brand new roster as well and is one of the best selling FG in the community. SF3 failed because it was lack of promotion and 3D gaming was the new thing. On top of this, SF3 couldnt be played on consoles early in that generation because of how powerful the game was. Some people didnt even know this game existed, which this was doing the time when the arcades were at the stages of becoming extinct. People wouldve loved this game just as much as the others. This was just one of those 'Wrong time, wrong place' scenerios.
I've played thirdstrike in the collection and comparing it to modern fighting games like 5 it's not as responsive. The game has a delay with your buttons, so if you want to punish your opponents jump in you have to react really fast or have a hard read. Because 5 is so responsive you have more time to react to your opponent.
Third Strike is just so damn boring at top level. Same 3 characters (Chun-Li, Ken and Yun), the game becomes a twitchy spazzfest of fishing for a hit confirm into SA, rinse and repeat. I would love a "Final Strike" rebalance that made serious changes to every character and made them all viable at high level, because honestly this is ridiculous.
Yun vs. Chun Li.... Please make a Low Tier tournament - a lot of these characters are broken. It's just boring - and those who want to win have to play them to win.
It really bites that the second best SF wife is so good in this game. If she didn't have so many good setups, high damage and stuff, I would like playing her competitvely a lot more. That's why I kinda appreciate her more in SFIV and SFV

I've played thirdstrike in the collection and comparing it to modern fighting games like 5 it's not as responsive. The game has a delay with your buttons, so if you want to punish your opponents jump in you have to react really fast or have a hard read. Because 5 is so responsive you have more time to react to your opponent.

Third Strike is just so damn boring at top level. Same 3 characters (Chun-Li, Ken and Yun), the game becomes a twitchy spazzfest of fishing for a hit confirm into SA, rinse and repeat.
I would love a "Final Strike" rebalance that made serious changes to every character and made them all viable at high level, because honestly this is ridiculous.

It really bites that the second best SF wife is so good in this game. If she didn't have so many good setups, high damage and stuff, I would like playing her competitvely a lot more. That's why I kinda appreciate her more in SFIV and SFV
