- I've been looking forward to getting some time to play around with, and program, one of these Bridgecom Repeaters, and now is that time. This will be the first episode in a small series, where I show the many features of the repeater, and what it can be used for. This will also be my new portable DMR repeater that I take with me when traveling, so expect to see it in several future episodes.

The BCR-40U repeater is the Bridgecom 40-watt UHF repeater, but lots of clubs in my home area use the BCR-220 repeater for the 1.25M Ham Radio band. If you are interested in 220 at all, you should be following this channel: / @bridgecomsystemsinc

looking forward to the follow up video! DMR, Pi-Star, and your C-Bridge nextwork. nice!
My club here in CT uses a 2 meter Bridgecom repeater. We had some trouble setting it up but Bridgecom's tech support walked us through it and we've been up and running trouble free for a few years now.
Good to know. Yes, Bridgecom is great with customer service, which is another reason to buy from them, rather than someone outside of the USA or a commercial company that doesn't want to support hams
Great review Jason.
Thanks for watching
Bridgecom is AWESOME the people there are GOOD !
Can't wait for the next video.
I was going to try to post them both at the same time, but I got delayed on the 2nd part. It should post tomorrow. Thanks for watching
First, great video. I'm a little late to this one, but I've been working to convince local hams we need a DMR repeater and I'm doing some research. I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents on your mention of the prolific drivers at 3:35. From my experience it isn't necessarily the driver that gives the issue, it's that some cheap cables use a fake or counterfeit prolific chip and the driver has issues with that. Being a reputable company, that shouldn't be the case with Bridgecom's. Thanks for the great video!
would like to see a video just on programming the power setting
does the repeater still work in analog with the MMDVM board ?
Yes you can use it that way but then you'll run into the same problems that exist with running a Fusion repeater in AMS mode.
Thanks for the videos! Do you do RavenNet c-bridges?
Yes. The Bridgecom cbridge and the Rayfield cbridge are made by RavenNet - I use the Bridgecom version, but in the OS install, they are all the same.
What kind of power does this draw, looking at putting it on a remote site
Do these repeaters have a superheterodyne receiver? I don’t know much about them, I’m just interested in getting one.
That is a good question - I will check with Bridgecom.
Good video.... But curious why digital? No one uses analog anymore?.. Just asking is all....do you get to keep it? Thanks 73
So you are asking "why digital?" but also saying that no one uses analog anymore....? Those 2 questions seem to contradict themselves.
In my area, analog is still used quite a bit. Of course this can vary by location, but it isn't accurate to say that "no one" uses analog any longer. Maybe "no one in your area" might be an accurate statement, but it is not accurate to say "no one anywhere"
@@HamRadio2 it was a miss type sorry mentnas a question.
Ever considered of revisiting the bridgecom repeater but doing a review on 220 repeater and radios available from all the manufacturers?
Yes I have thought about that, in fact. I'll do some research
my second question is this,if it has to have a color code, and assorted other things to acess the repeater, why would you need a cavity filter?,dmr is a different mode, how could another analog repeater,or another dmr repeater interfere with it?,,thank you
QUESTION: I am new to the GMRS radios and we have property in N Florida surrounded by 13000 acres and there are NO REPEATERS around me. Would this work well for all of us in the area and we all have the Wouxun KG-Q10G? What kind of range could we also expect from this? Thank you in advance for your help.
You'd need a GMRS repeater from Bridgecom and range depends on how high up you get the antenna that goes to the repeater
Fantastic, THANK YOU for your help. I'm looking at repeaters now to increase range at our ranch. Thee are no hills near us here in Florida just pine trees in our area. Our ranch is approx 76 ft. above sea level and the rest of the land is much lower 15-30 ft.. In my opinion were on a hill where we are so this should also increase distance I'm thinking. I like this Bridgecom repeater in your video and i think this may work perfect for our needs. @@HamRadio2
@hamradio2.0 i am always late to the party, sorry! Is this repeater
still kicking for you and getting the job done?? Looking into possibly setting one up soon! Thanks for any reply, 73!

I’m just coming across this video. Can I use this repeater as a personal DStar repeater?
Yes
@@HamRadio2 cool. Looking to set up a dstar repeater for personal use
for dmr use, does the repeater require a cavity filter?
Yes, just like any repeater
but can you read my next question please?@@HamRadio2
So what do you think, something like this or 2 wouxun s working as a repeater for a basic nabor hood repeater?
No way 2 Wouxun mobiles would be the quality of this repeater.
@@HamRadio2 Hi Sir, Are they Part 95 compliant for GMRS use.?
@@tinachavez8712 This one is the HAM repeater, but they do indeed have a GMRS version.
@@HamRadio2 ok.. Thx.
@@tinachavez8712 yes the kg 1000 s are.
Really wish you had cracked the box open and done a deep dive into what's inside. Maybe a 3rd video?
Maybe
@@HamRadio2 I agree. Would love to see the inside. I'm told it's basically two mobiles. Curios how a receiver that wide would hold up in a harsh RF environment along with how well the mobile PA will last too.
@@adamfeuer6192 I believe it is 2 mobiles but so are the Motorola DMR repeaters
@@HamRadio2 I beg to differ! My MTR3000 is NOT 2 mobiles nor would I buy an XPR8400.
@@adamfeuer6192 the MTR is an old model and the XPRs are all 2 mobiles. I own half a dozen of them and they're great repeaters
Can you program it for gmrs
Yes. In fact they have a commercial model of the repeater that goes from 450-512MHz and works great for GMRS - www.bridgecomsystems.com/collections/commercial-repeaters/products/bcr-40u-450-520-mhz?ref=kiiqzu1uu7cb
www.randl.com link in description doesn't work.
It pulls up for me. But it looks like it redirects to a non-secure site, so maybe remove the "s" and just use
Jason, The Number you see in the CPS for power is an Arbitrary DIGITAL number that is decoded by the firmware. The ONLY proper way to set the power is via a quality wattmeter and dummy load. The number itself does not mean anything to a human user.
But surely the higher the number, the higher the power. Otherwise, it seems to be a pointless setting.
Part3?
I didn't do a Part 3, but I have another couple of updates I am working on
@@HamRadio2 Awesome! I love what you are doing for the community. I'm currently trying to make a DMR repeater out of two GM300s and an MMDVM Modem on the pi4b.
That is great, I know a few guys running setups like that. They seem to work well.
@@talbizle Many are doing it and it works.those repeater like BridgeCom are way to expensive for my radio club.they may be a good repeater but we are 8 members in my radio club so forget about this one.73"s and good luck with your projet.Gervais ve2ckn
It’s not a American product just assembled in the USA
Wrong. It was designed by an American and final assembly in Missouri. Chassis parts - St. LOUIS, MO. Printed Circuit boards - fabricated and assembled - California, Power supply - Taiwan. - RF modules - S.Korea, firmware design - Missouri. Cable assemblies - State of Georgia, USA.
Well
you are "explaining" what is a repeater to folks here ,,they should know it,,right.
they maybe a good repeater but way to much $$ for my radio club,we are only 8 members ! and to small budget
we are still on our Ge Master 2 for + 10-15 years,,,time go to fast!
to bad!
easy to programm

gervais ve2ckn
I can't really tell if this is good or bad, but several clubs around here also ran a GE Master II for a long time, and those are solid repeaters too.
Designed and built in the USA, Donald Trump will be happy..
Good point!
Lots of other Americans would be also....
wow, 3 mins of BS.. 3:14 seems to start the review.. I sure hope so.
