I’m newer to 1/6 and was so confused by this reveal. Glad it’s not just me!
I’ve been in 1/6 for 20 years and am very confused by this haha
They could just release accessories sets on their own and they'd sell pretty well, I think. It'd make a lot more sense than bundling them with a random figure.
Hottoys will definitely release bokatan2.0, these accessories in IG12 sets are brand new molds, I believe Hottoys is doing this for two reasons, the first is that if you have the characters from the previous you don’t have to buy them again and won't feel bad, Second and also the most important is Hottoys was worried those "reissues" that only add few accessories will not selling well, so they chose to put a batch here to spread the cost of the new mold. for Bokatan's root hair, it's believed because her hair grows longer, and the long straight hair made of plastic is not like curve hairs, it will look awful, for example, Alita's hair almost look like a helmet.
Hey did sculpted long hair on wonder woman and that didn't look half bad from the images I saw.
@@brandonoltman4411 Yea, since Wonder Woman has curly hair, certain sculpting methods could give the curly hair a layered look, but straight hair all stacks together and its sucks
actually, I prefer sculpted hair a lot better than rooted hair, with bo 1.0 in collected, I was pretty satisfied with this IG12 set, I don't care bo's hair at all once I put her helmet on, when bo 2.0 revealed it will be an easy pass for me.... here I just try to pinpointing why Hottoys decided to change it in 2.0
Aside the hair and shoulder Bo in S3 has different Boots/gaiters, her gloves are brown, the belt pouches are flatter.
They should have included an Axe Woves headsculpt too 😂

Makes me wonder if the rooted Bo Katan will be a limited edition release ala wonder woman wb100.
They knew S3 bombed, and they're trying to sell the accessories to make a quick buck. I'm personally glad they're moving on from Mando. That series has been quickly downhill since the S2 finale, and I think they horribly mishandled Grogu. But regardless, I hope HT are focusing their SW resources on Ahsoka, Andor, or ROTS (20 yr anniversary in 2 years... omg). I can already imagine an updated Ahsoka with USB sabers, Sabine, Chopper, Hera, Zeb, Ezra, Thrawn, and hopefully Kanan via flashbacks. Those are all instant buys. Even the two dark jedi look great. I can see myself going deep into the Ahsoka line purely because it's live action Rebels season 5.
don't hold your breath! most likely they will only do 2-3 chars from Ahsoka line before season 4 of Mando comes out or 2nd season of Fett and then they will switch gears. The problem with the figures for these series (both SW and Marvel) are that there's a small window where ppl actually care about them before they are on to the next "it" series. That's why every Mando and fett fig get marked down incredibly, by the time they release most collectors have lost interest or they shoot themselves in their own foot with a release that renders the previous one obsolete.
@@chocotastic1agreed, there s also a problem on hot toy s part of constantly announcing figures which will take veeery long to release, this also ties to your point that there arecso msny shows across marvel and star wars but still, hot toys needs to slow doen with announcments and have fewer releases imo.
For instance, do we really need a figure for every single type of trooper in star wars? Id rather have them just make a few important characters from each film/ show, because those troopers are taking away time/resources and are bloating the release schedule. Or, when it comes to Marvel, do we really need a She Hulk figure, when more interesting figures Kate and Clint arent still out? Im surprised there s no ms marvel figure but i think they re waiting for the marvels film.
I understand that production takes time due to engineering, materials, details etc but it just takes too long for figures to release. Loki and Sylvie just came out and the show was 2 years ago, Hawkeye and Kate still weren t released to this day, the NWH figures besides the integrated suit spidey will most likely come out next year/ late this year, nearly 2 years after the movie.
Very bizarre of Hot Toys. I guess the accessories set is aimed for those who already have the characters the accessories are for whom may want these. They just got to have IG-12.
Now probably a better way, how I would say they should release this is:
IG-12 Collectors Edition: includes Grogu (piloting) and x1 Anzellan
IG-12 Deluxe Edition: includes Grogu (piloting), x3 Anzellans, interchangeable damaged parts, fruit and snack
Season 3 Chrome Mando Collectors Edition: includes blaster pistol, grapple, rocket effects, flame thrower effect, jet pack, Darksaber and Grogu (standing and with interchangeable articulated arms)
Season 3 Chrome Mando Deluxe Edition: Same as the Collectors Edition with the addition of the Dark Trooper jetpack, x2 blaster pistols (which he keeps at the end of the finale), shield and baton
Season 3 Bo Katan Kryze: includes same body and acessories as original release, except the new headsculpt, Darksaber, crushed Darksaber hilt, interchangeable shoulder poldron and shield.
Screw the rest!
If they do R5, then they should include the mouse droid with that instead.
Just as I predicted they will do this IG-12, I predict they will do Moff Gideon in Dark Trooper armor next.

Possibly the Bo Katan is a special release during this upcoming comic con - kinda how Wonder Woman is being remade reusing existing parts but with a better rooted head? Although, the rooted job looks much better on WW.
It is somewhat odd, but I never complain about extra accessories, even if they're for other characters! If you have no use for some of them, they'd be very easy to flip.
Ebay sellers are going to love breaking this set up and selling off the individual accessories that collectors want.
It’s the Season 3 combo pack. It looks like the only new character is IG-12 so here are all the accessories for everyone else. I will be getting this.
I'm definitely pickup the IG-12 with the bonus accessories. They're very unique and will complement other figures from the series. The more accessories the better...
I will definitely get the IG-12 with the accessories, but if the accessories had been available as a separate pack I may not have bothered with IG-12 🤷🏻♂️
I like this set. It reflects the last two episodes of the mandolorian. Price point is good, and i think well worth it. Its a buy for me.
I think I can understand why they did it. Season 3 really wasn't that popular, and the characters didn't really change in terms of appearance and design. Rather than issue new versions of certain characters, Hot Toys just decided to go the route of an accessory pack. It would have been nice if they decided to sell the accessory pack on it's own. I'm sure some people would have liked that. Personally, however, I still wouldn't have picked up a stand-alone accessory pack as I'm not that interested in the accessories and I don't own a lot of the figures the accessories are meant for. IG-12 was one of the few highlights from this past season, but I don't like him enough to want to pre-order him, especially knowing that we'll likely be getting a wave of new figures after Ahsoka releases. I'm way more interested in those.
They were not my favorite scenes either but it was hilarious 🤣 seeing Grogu saying Yes & No that was hilarious 🤣
That Din is incredibly Shiny compared to last release. No weathering

Definitely an odd release! It's more of an accessory pack that includes a figure, than a figure with accessories.
This is the first time Hot Toys have ever done something like this! Weird.
To me it makes sense. IG-12 is one of the more marketable things to make from season three.
It’s obviously for the most diehard Mando fans who want it all. Rather than making a bunch of new figures that won’t sell do one new release and pack a bunch of accessories in.
Most people have probably have a Mando, and lots of people probably also have Bo-Katan.
Not for me but if they’d do this more often could be an interesting tactic to get some extra pieces for a fraction of a cost of double dipping on figures. Find one figure to make new and add accessories for other figures you already have.

First Vader (EP4) came with sound effects too, if I remember correctly. As for accessories coming with a fig for other figs, they started that with the Eddie Brock head coming with Carnage and I suspect that this "build a figure" kinda way of forcing the collectors buy other crap will get even worse.
But then they released Venom from Venom 2 with the same half symbiote head. The only fig that was released with an accessory for another fig was Drax I think, or one of the GotG that came with extra gun for Rocket.
This is the best marketing ploy. You can sell a lot of IG12 and other figures if you pack in collectibles for other figures with just one. Like marvel action figures were packed with one piece to build one new character. Curious if this will be a new thing HT thing
Hot Toys reasons for all the accessories with this figure seems clear as a selling tool for this version. IG-11 is still available, so this makes sense to give collectors more of a reason to get the accessory version of IG-12. I think they should have added the Imperial Armored Commando Blasters that Mando uses when he loses his blaster, Mando also having them on his belt when he presents Marshal IG-11, I Hope they come with that figure if they make it. I think this the craziest thing I've seen Hot Toys do and I want more, can't wait looks awesome.

I saw this last night too, what an interesting assortment of stuff. I had the same thoughts about that rooted hair Bo. We'll never figure out the mind of Howard Chan will we?
I’m confused just as you. Why isn’t the melting gun added to the new Heavy Mando? Like you said make an Accessories set and sell it. Hey how about a Bo Katan rooted hair head sculpt with those new accessories for her. So you just swap out the parts with the one you already have! I think Hot Toys is not seeing much happening with the Mando world for awhile and they are trying to get accessories out so collectors can re-posse some of the already released figures with these new accessories. But my biggest feeling is they feel they will need to add these accessories in-order to sell this IG-12
Crazy, they should have just done a Mandalorian Season 3 Accessory Pack for $150-200 separately. The IG-12 is a yes. yes. yes. yes. buy for me anyway especially with this pack... so yeah

I’m surprise that HT not release Bokatan 2.0. I’m ok about this, just feel surprise.
One reason I guess is bokantan still available in stock. HT may think it will become a market pressure if release 2.0.
This to me just says that HT are doing one figure from S3, and that’s it, no further updated figs, given previous releases, so they choose all the parts of what’s different fromS3 and just give us collectors everything that we need to update our S1&2 figs if we want to. Pretty clever from HT I think, plus it will boost sales of IG12 over what would perhaps be a low run preorder.
Think they’ll be more figures coming - can’t see them not producing another trooper in the form of the Super Commando. Wouldn’t be surprised to see another Mando in some form, and maybe a Praetorean Guard. Time will tell!

The Bo Katan featured in the promo pics had different paint app on her armor. It is likely that we are getting a S3 Bo Katan.
I wish you could buy this set of accessories separately.
I think they're gonna make a new Bo Katan but they're selling the accessories if you don't wanna get a new one you can update the one you already have
There will be a 3rd IG12 released painted in its Red and White Mayer color way at the end of the season. So technically this is already an outdated figure before sale unless you absolutely loved the grogu in chest and accessories.
I chose the one with the accessories just for the extra figures. I don't have the other characters.
Their Mando is a lot less weathered than the release, no?

If the Grogu/S3 pram was sold separately, I'd totally get that, as it would go well with my Bo-Katan as they travel through the Mines of Mandalore together (and I don't have a Grogu yet). The new mythosaur pauldron & gauntlet shield are readily available online from various 3D printers if you want to go that route.
It's not so much IG-12 set so much as a Mando S3 accessory pack. IG-12 by itself is not very tempting, but the collectable set is.
Odd announcement. The mandalorian stuff just does not sell. Maybe the production numbers on these will be very limited, buy why bother?

They include all that other crap with this so he doesn't ho to waste in the warehouse while everyone buys the other more popular figures missing these accessories thus, feeling incomplete. Low blow
I never got IG-11 but my son loves 12 so I have to get it.
I've always liked well-done rooted hair, if they do a rooted hair Bo-Katan I'm all in 100% day 1. This particular figure and accessory set is an easy pass for me though.

I think it’s great man. I hope they do this more. Hopefully they start doing accessory sets in general. Really want USB saber set for previous figures. I think the shield and batton will look great in a storm trooper. And a freak maloorun from rebels! Im about it

I dont know what To feel with those accessories. On one point i like that you Can get accessories for characters i own already without buying duplicate. But i fear they Will start To make "build a figure" kinda set where they force us To buy figures i dont want To get accessories i want

I'm pretty sure they're making another one this is just for people who already have the figures to upgrade the ones we have and not buy the figures again just for a few differences

This was a dumb release. They know that no one cares about Ig-12 so they pair literally every other accessory from the disappointing S3 of Mando to get it to sell? Who knows 🤷♂️

Yea that’s just weird. I’m really movin away from these Star Wars shows as they get lazier and lazier so it’s not my problem anymore but still I don’t get it at all.
The new season of Mando was so awful they I can’t even be remotely excited for this stuff. Lucasfilm has just become a disaster.
Those Mandalorian accesories are just awful, I mean the shield/jetpack and baton, they have so much Sequels vibes that if I would get them for free I would just throw them to the bin.
The only accesory that I would really want from this release would be the mouse droid.
Anyway, didn't like much the 3rd season so not interested in this IG-11 2.0 to be honest, at all.
