Fun fact, Hurstville station was actually the filming location for a segment from The Chaser’s War on Everything. It was at the entrance to the station from Forest Road with the stairs/escalator split. The segment was one of Jules Morrow’s Citizens Infringement Officer segments, specifically the one where Jules fines people for going on the wrong side of the escalator. I saw the clip on RUclips, but didn’t know that it was at this station until I saw the comments pointing it out. And in a bigger twist, I actually met Jules in person in 2013. I was walking with an old friend towards Prince Alfred Park on the way to Central, and I was talking about The Chaser, and he just happened to be right nearby. Pretty star struck moment if you say.
Shame all you can see are Tangaras and occaisonally Oscars here on this line (and the odd freight train) :( I miss the old Silver Sets :'( They added to the variety xD
I usaly go for or write the Sets that are for example chopped controled, an interesting doors opening and closing sound, the old doors opening and closing announcements, the new doors opening and closing announcements, compressors, air-conditioners, air-breakes, electricity sounds, power sounds, air-realeases, whistle sounds, exhausted engine, chopper motors, doors slaming shut, zapping sounds, air-compressors, slowing down sounds, speeding up sounds, heaters, breakes sounds, release sounds, arriving sounds, departing sounds, hualing sounds, siren sounds, passing sounds, doors opening and closing sounds, traveling sounds, terminating sounds, moving sounds, floor creeks, doors clicking sounds, light wieht plug doors, the dile tone of the doors opening and closing, sometimes a fewmy smell, doors to next carriage, engine running, start up sounds, loud compressors, strong breakes, doors realeas sounds, car numbers, old doors, new doors, doors with beep sounds, driver controled at each end, relaxing, loud breakes, carriage numbers, comfortable seating, doors stick out of trains abit, Cityrail, and hydrolix.
You know what Fill if you like you bring a note book or some paper with you and you can write down all the Train sets so you can remember them for next time you see them again at any stations or if you go on Sydney Metro trains, Sydney Trains, Intercity Trains, NSW XPTs, Explorers, Endeavours, Hunter trains and NSW Trainlink Trains Sydney and NSW passenger Trains.
Gary Flack I’m sure he remembers most sets based on stuff like carriage numbers. The Metro fleet doesn’t have any visible set numbers but the first two digits on the car numbers designate the set number, in a reverse to how Waratah carriage numbers always have the last two digits correspond with the set (one exception currently exists, D6379 on A42).
Both platforms are pretty much the same length. However, they offset from each other. 1&2 (Local) are further north than the 3&4 (Main) and 'poke out' from under the building over the station. There used to be a signal box at the southern end of 1&2.
Andrew W Actually, both island platforms at Hurstville are the same length. Platform 1/2 is just placed a little further than 3/4, which is why 1/2 also partially stick out from the undercover area that swallows up most of the station. This is because a shopping centre called Hurstville Central, which is also integrated with the station concourse, covers the platforms.
To Phil iam glad they are preserving 3805 s set carriage cheers from Rohan
Sydney train vlog I watched you watch each months never get too old
+Sydney Trains Vlogs I watch your vlogs everyday they never get old

No
Great vlog mate, a quickly question, does the track stop at bomaderry or keep going?
Tom Keane Yes, though the electrified section stops at Kiama.
I'm going to Sydney on the 4th July and I maybe travelling to Nowra would a iPhone 5s be the camera to film
+Sydney Aviation Spotting iPhone 5s is fine to film with.
I film with an iPhone 6s+ but use to film with a 5s.
Thanks mate! should I not zoom with the 5s
With the graffiti on the back of one of the tangaras and you filming, makes the guard see something suspicious.
Half the video is of that God damn freight train
I think platforms 1 & 2 are a lot shorter than platforms 3 & 4...from what ive seen at the station
no I think Platforms 1,2 are bigger cause they go outside
