Loving the Kitten Zone!
My favorite place to be too!!!
Ordinary ginseng ficus to a very bonsai with a nice looking base
So nice of you, thanks!!!
Catching up on videos while cleaning my aquariums. Watching & listening. Super cool tree with some master pruning.
Looks great and the carved roots look more and more natural. I can't avoid giggling for myself when you said something along the line that you worked on it for about 10 years.... 😄 Yeah that is perhaps seen as a looong time for those who just begun doing bonsai. The encouraging thing with bonsai for me is that you are never "finished" and it is a living thing which you care about and I can just loose myself gaze at them and study the structure etc.
Thanks, yes ten years seems to go by so quickly!!
Tree is looking very nice Nigel. One of my favorites, although there are many. ;)
Fun time down on the farm again, 24 hrs sometimes just isnt long enough to get everything done !
So true, my wife agrees also!!
I absolutely love this tree, what an inspiration!
Thanks so much, it's one of my favorites too!!
Looks good Nigel
I loved the kitten update. I watched til the end! Thank you for all you do.
Glad you enjoyed it!
oh the kitten scenes are such a delight!
They are very fun to play with and it gives the mother a break!!
Oh my, I'd love to adopt 2 of the kittens! Too bad you're living at the other side of the world
This ficus is probably my favourite "transforming" bonsai you have. After pruning you can really see how great the core structure is and it's such an improvement over whatever you can buy from the mall.
Thanks, it's definitely making progress!!
You always have the cutest critter updates!!!
Thanks, we like our critters!!
realy like youre viatnam styled ficus and nice to see that the other bonsais are also doing well and all the cute kittens thanks for showing
Thanks so much!!!
Can we ever have enough cute cat videos? 😂😊
Lol, I don't think so!! You are welcome to take one home with you, or even four!!!
Beatiful tree and beautiful kittens.Lovely color😻
Thanks Harriet, it's hard to tell the kittens apart, they all look the same!!
@@TheBonsaiZone I Wish I was your nabour, so I could buy 2 of them, but I live in Sweden😔
Looking great! Definitely a good candidate for the fall show!
Thanks Jay, I hope you pick out a kitten when you visit, lol!!!
@@TheBonsaiZone I will pick one.. but if I actually bring it home I will be be kicked out!
Nice work Nigel. 👍 But I get worried always when my temperature get to 40 degrees , and I have just Adenium and Ficus trees there.
The trees seem fine, as long as I keep them well watered and misted!!
Nice work on tree as usual. Still amazed at how fast your trees grow. We dont have raccoons here.they are so cute but will they be not doing damage knocking over your trees ect when they get bigger?
They don't seem to go near the benches luckily, they just disappear into the forest at night! Thanks Chris!!
Good morning, the pruning, 20 min in, has created more space and interest. There are more defined planes moving front to back for the eye to move through. Have you ever considered a different front? The left side had nice form and flow! Great progress!
It would be tough to change the front, I'd have to go with a different pot I think, but it's always a possibility!
love your videos, I believe its is illegal to keep or rehabilitate raccoons without a permit.
👍👌👌
❤😊
Thanks Penny!!!
do you have some tips for getting specimens from nursery stock? Ive been looking at some nurseries but was wondering if I should be looking for something in particular. Ive been looking at Boxwoods and even a shrub called a Razzleberri Fringe flower that looks like it's cascading a bit. Anyways, love your videos!
It's always good to try interesting species, I generally bare root my nursery stock and put the tree in bonsai soil as the first step. I also try and do some root pruning, just to get the radial root base under way.
did we work on that tree two years ago when I was there?
Yes, that is the tree you helped me prune up on your visit!!! See you soon Dave!!!

salutations!
I'm not sure those bulbous roots will ever look good I'm afraid. Maybe you could just airlayer directly above and generate a new root plane and an even more compact tree.
Time will tell, the tree seems to send out aerial roots every now and then, so the root base could change over the upcoming years!
Foist.
Nice!
