I like that you call it a firearm. I can tell you respect it for what it is and what it was for a long time, just a tool. A tool to do things for hunting and safety etc. People treated them like tools and respected them. I think nowadays people don't have that kind of mentality.
Hi Jay! I’m Connie from Pennsylvania and I’m 67 and I will watch your videos anyway and anytime! You are very knowledgeable, smart, kind and honest! I also will eat breakfast anytime of the day!
That's a common juniper, Jay, and a very nice native. You have same season berries on the bush. The blue are ripe, the green will ripen later. The powder coating on them is called bloom and is a protective layer to help them reach maturity. Doesn't matter to me which cameras you use, just love the content!
It’s not the way a video looks to me. It’s content. I miss the North, having lived in YK for 33 years. Don’t miss the bugs anymore. But you get used to them while your in the thick of it. Keep up the good work! ❤
The GoPro works for me! That light really helped when it got dark. Maybe it was just me but I really couldn't tell any difference in the quality of this video and your others. I watch your channel for content. You picked a great campsite. I'm with you. Breakfast for dinner is one of my favorite meals. A bowl of grits topped with bacon and a couple of fried eggs with buttered toast and orange marmalade is as good as it gets! Plus, a strong cup of black coffee! Safe travels and I'll see you again...real soon 😉
It makes me so angry to see that with all the knowledge we humans have we still have people on this earth dumping their trash like that. 😢 Keep up the great content Jay 🙂 #your#1fan
Love sharing these getaways with you. Seeing your parts of the world is so refreshing. I care for my 92 year old mom and 14 year old grand puppy so I’m kinda tied down. These escapes keep me entertained and refreshed. Vicariously enjoying your freedom Jay, so appreciate your sharing. 👵🐶🥰🇨🇦
Great video Jay, great shelter , great dinner , which I agree can be eaten at anytime! Your rugged area is great ! I think the film is great ! Your just down to earth kinda guy ! Thanks for bringing us along !
I love your videos no matter what equipment you use. Love breakfast all day, it is my favorite . Jay always love your meals gives me ideas for me when I am camping. Keep up the great work.
Jay: The easy way to let the air out is to open the valve just before you get up and let your body do the work . Shut the valve when you hear no more air. It then will compress into a very small roll. The shorter mattress that goes from shoulders to hips is sufficient for comfort and take up less space in a pack. Great videos and make me want to get out my tent and canoe and head for an isolated spot on a northern lake.❤
Does not matter the video means Jay., you always do a great job. I spray myself down with bug spray the same way. Thanks for sharing another excellent video!
I always enjoy how detailed your other videos are with the higher-end equipment. You can really tell you put a lot of effort into it. However the GoPro worked great for this episode. As long as you take us along for your trips, either camera will work fine. Great video as always Jay.
The GoPro looks good Jay. They’ve come along way over the years and they can produce a great image. There’s another outdoor channel I watch and they only use GoPros. The content is what makes the video. I appreciate quality videos but the you and the camping content is what I love. Keep up the great work Jay.
Wow, you really lucked out with your spot! Beautiful. I continue to be amazed at the design and structure of tents now! I’m 67 and we certainly didn’t have anything as easy and functional as you have. So I enjoy the different products available.
Hey Jay, really enjoyed this video! I love seeing the daylight at midnight, that’s wild! As for the GoPro….. if you hadn’t told us, I would not have known! It did a great job! Keep your shows coming, I’m a loyal fan! I wore my J in the woods tank top last weekend, so comfortable and cool!
Very nice video! Yes to the privacy and most definitely to breakfast anytime of the day or night! Personally I do not mind the Go Pro at all , I think it does a really decent job filming and the new add on light really made a big difference. Thank you for taking us along Jay , I look forward to your future videos. 👍👍
It’s so good to watch you enjoy the summer. I know that you’d rather be a snowJay bird in the winter but this seems to suit you well. I have to say that I am in love with your kettle!! It is adorable!
Loved the summer camp, and loved you showed us the scene at midnight. Beautiful. And why not have breakfast whenever you feel like it?! Sounds good to me Jay. 👍
This is next level Brother J and outside of the winter camping experience. I absolutely love and cherish the winter camping and would prefer that over summer for many reasons. That said, I Love you bringing both experiences to us. Always inspiring. Your living the Dream Jay..
Can’t get enough of the drone videos. Always gives a great perspective of the area you’re camping in That tent is super cozy My son has made juniper infused vodka or you can use gin. Never tried it. You don’t need many berries The GoPro was fine . It’s always nice to try different equipment Really enjoyed this video..well done 🇨🇦❤️
Hey Jay. Nice video! I say GoPro all the way for outdoor filming. The quality of the videos is great and you won’t have to lug around a bunch of other equipment. Like so many others have commented, we come to see you man. So, whatever makes it easier for you to get out and do this - chose that. Finally, breakfast all day everyday here too!
Ugh -- all that trash -- makes me so sad. But the place you found was beautiful. I love your passion for the outdoors - doesn't matter to me what camera setup you use - your enthusiasm carries me through the videos!
Jay whatever you do comes out great. I love all of your videos. Let's try the go pro for a few days and see how it works. Just keep knocking them out. I love the dialogue we get blow by blow. We are all learning right along with you. You do the work we reap the benefits 😊😊
Hey jay. I’ve been watching you for a couple years now and you mentioned commenting. Your are an inspiration. Since I started watching you I have been spring and fall camping in southern Ontario and I love it. Not ready to winter camp yet and summer is to warm for me. Keep the amazing videos coming cuz I wanna see more.
I can definitely appreciate the higher production quality of your videos. I wouldn't say it's necessary on every video so maybe a combination of the two? But your ability with the higher end kit really shines through in your videos.
I love your videos and your perspective on life. It's really inspirational. I wish I was in Canada. GoPro worked fine to me. Can't wait for the next one!
The go pro looks great and doing a whole video using it looked really good too. I like a nice mix of camera shots but ultimately it’s the content that matters the most. the gopro is just another part of your camera arsenal 😀
I enjoy your channel bc of you and the content you put out! I enjoy the little tricks you’ve learned from trying other things. Most people come to your channel for YOU!
Jay, you just need a diffuser for your video light. It will soften the shadows, spread the light and take down the harshness a bit. I'm sure you can buy a soft box for that light specifically, but you could also do a makeshift diffuser, with some opaque plastic, like milk bottle plastic, etc. Heck, a small plastic juice bottle might just fit perfectly!
. Your tent is very much like the ice fishing tent I have. Mine isn't camo color, has two doors, that open the same way yours does, and has slightly smaller windows. Sets up exactly the same, has the "wings", around the bottom, that you put the rocks on, is a 1-3 person, and the floor is separate, too. The big differences are, that none of my sides flip up, to make an awning, and mine cost less than $200., as opposed to $1,400. You're right on the privacy aspect, and that breakfast is great, anytime of the day, or night. Enjoyed the video.
Remington has a 12 ga shotgun/slug gun combo where you can change just the barrels for different types of hunting. For a really good all around rifle. Look for something in a 30-06 caliber. Big enough for larger animals and not too big for medium sized animals. If you are looking for a side arm for protection/hunting 357, 41, or 44 magnum revolvers would be my choice. Go pro did a fantastic job. We viewers tend not to think about all the logistics that go into putting these type videos together.
The perfect site, great call on moving to the second perch! GoPro is absolutely fine by my take, it helps the rustic feel - and breakfast is a solid choice any time of day. Thanks for all the videos. Cheers!
Good starter shot gun is a 20g good for all types of birds just have to use the right shot size and can shoot slugs. My daughter started off with the 20g and it’s great for her and I like to use it as well. Good starter rifle would be 270 or 30-06. Both great for all size big game from Caribou to moose.

Hey, how are you doing, and you are right breakfast at any is a good thing. And I am glad you are doing thing in the summer. Always stay safe and sound and take care
I have a set of different sizes cast iron pans and I wouldn't trade them for anything. They are about 60 years old now and cook just as good as when they were new, actually I think they cook stuff better than when they were new. Yes, that second spot was way better than the first spot you saw. The bugs looked insane. Good thing you always go prepared. Stay safe and don't lose too much blood to the mosquitoes. I'm thinking that your new puppy isn't old enough to go camping yet. Looking forward to that day.
1) I don't mind the go pro 2) I do like camping with my mates but away from camping areas 3) Brekky all day is great! 4) I'm Australian, so see the Sunup at Midnight is madness to me lol 5) That light is pretty good 6) Great video as always :)
Have you ever used a mummy bag? Honestly there my favorite. I was at a garage sale and found an antique military 1 that I believe was hardly used if at all. The woman selling it had I believe $10 sticker on it. And I wouldn't argue with the price because I knew what they were worth. I walked away with a smile on my face.
Enjoyed this video. Glad you found a nice spot. Beautiful view. As far as camera's goes, it doesn't matter to me. It's the content of a video that I care about, and you do quite nicely. Looking forward to your next getaway. Take care my friend.
Juniper berries are awesome cooked in with almost any meat dish for extra flavor. Also great if boiled in a tea. Just look for the dark blue or purple colored ripe ones myself, but know people who also cook with the green ones.
sorry to see all the mes that people leave out in your beautiful countryside sorry to see ken from kent england i spent time in valcartier in quebec and camp wainwright in alberta as was in the military in the 70ties
Perfectly right to pick the more protected spot. I dont like camping on campgrounds unless just to get a night sleep while driving to a more remote wilderness area.
Ha jay thanks for sharing your adventures with us all that watch .and I agree about having breakfast any time of the day.i used to like it when Mc Dounld's used to have all day breakfast that was before COVID hit the whole world.
Yea I'm from the UK and we have an all day Breakfast at alot of cafés and restaurants, no matter what's on the menu if it has an all day Breakfast you can bet your life that's what everyone will be eating. 🍳🥓☕
Another enjoyable video from Jay. And so much better than wasting time on TV! (A revolver for bear takes up less space and is easier to carry. Maybe a .357 or .44 magnum?)
Go Pro does a good job. As for a firearm. There are so many options to think about. For a sidearm I don't think you need anything larger than the .44 mag wheel gun, but that limits you to 5 shots. A better choice in my opinion is a 10mm semi auto. For camp protection and general hunting use you can't beat a 12ga pump action. Best of luck with your choices. See you in the next video.
Hey Jay, I always love the winter time content, but I've been really enjoying the summertime adventures too! Regarding the camera and video quality. The best way I can describe how the go-pro looks compared to your "normal" stuff, is the go-pro colors look flat or less sharp. Your normal stuff looks more crisp/vibrant. I can imagine packing a bunch of camera equipment can be a pain at times. If I were to offer anything, I would say pack the go-pro if you're packing light and want us to go on the adventure with you, pack the camera if you want us to experience the destination (like the sunset you showed us in this video before you went to sleep). Love your content regardless, and look forward to every upload! :)
It is special when camping alone. That camo pop out tent was interesting. For bears I use the bear jell that shoots jell. Instead spray. If the wind is blowing; Spray can blow back into you face.
Love your videos Jay. Not being able to get out and camp due to health reasons, thank you for filming your adventures abs taking me along. And to answer your question about which camera to film with I think using both would be perfect. Use the gopro for more of your action shots and then use your other camera for more cinematic shots. Thanks for allowing me to tag along thru your videos.
I thought the GoPro did a wonderful job. I believe breakfast is best at dinner time. Sometimes we do bisquits, gravy, hash browns, fried potatoes and onions and eggs. I consider it comfort food. If I don't do gravy i sometimes make pancakes. All depends how we're feeling. Great video Jay. Tyfs God bless you
I love how you can talk to us viewers like we've been friends forever. Love your content, Jay.
Thanks beardedskateboarder

Breakfast all day one of my favorite yes 👍👍❤️💖🇺🇸
I love the sound of crows. I'm glad you picked up their calls. Thank you.
I'm a 52 yr old wife with nothing in common with you but love watching your videos! The go pro was fine, use it anytime! Take care!

Thank you for answering this. I thought it was juniper but was not sure. When I was a kid we used to call the berries bb's lol silly kids.

Are tje juniper berries edible?
@@mawmawvee No. But a specific species (not this one) is used in the making of gin.

When I was growing up, we would often have breakfast food for supper.
As someone who grew up with firearms, and a instructor, my preference is easy. 357 pistol & camp rifle make a great combo, for personal protection & hunting. Just a suggestion, but a rifle and pistol using the same ammo just makes sense for camping out. God bless.

The GoPro did a great job. Doesn't matter what you use, just keep the awesome videos coming.
Good to here from you again.😊😊😊😅😅😅😉👍👏👏👏👌👌👌👌
Go pro worked with that tiny light . Thank you for the detailed use of cast iron cooking and care on a fire stove.
Thanks for commenting!
It is special when camping alone. That camo pop out tent was interesting. For bears I use the bear jell that shoots jell. Instead spray. If the wind is blowing; Spray can blow back into you face.
Interested. I've never heard of bear gel. I will have to look into it.
Video was great to me Jay. No quality issues at all.
Try using tea tree oil, lavender oil, peppermint oil for mosquitoes. Apply to your skin, works great. Also peppermint oil is good for mice.
Go Pro is just great! I'm not a camper, but enjoy experiencing the great outdoors through you.
Tyfs God bless you
Now I want that meal!
@@jaylegere it's really good lol
Great video Jay very nice area up north the camp site is number one.
