Why did GM not use the 4.3L (262 CID) in the PRO 1500 SWB and LWB trucks? I purchased a 1986 C-10 (1500) LWB with the 4.3L (262 CID) with the only option, a 35-gallon aux tank. I was able to drive 1,100 HWY miles between fill-ups. The main reasons are: the 6.6L (403 CID) is old-school tech, meaning no auto start-stop; dynamic cylinder deactivation; and either can tow 10,000 lbs trailers. The Savana has a slight edge over the Sierra and carries family members and two Large DOG crates. As a Senior, I require a vehicle with safety features to assist me in driving on blacktop roads in Georgia. I have the same one on my 2021 5.3 and it does work.
I drive with the transmission in M 5th in my hometown to limited the 4/8 cylinder activation, but I think I need the AFM to increase the longevity of my truck’s engine. Does anyone think an AFM would increase the life of my cam and pushrods?
Can we get an update brother ?
I do have this same one on my 2017 GMC Sierra Denali with the 8 speed and I have to say it works great with no issues.
How about using one of these long term?
@@ibggetsemani1206 what is the time frame you’re referring to?
@@haydenmclendon9968 I haven't bought one yet. I'm merely asking what would your opinion be (since you're a user) on using one long term on a Silverado to disable the afm. If anything might happen to the vehicle if I were to use one long term (months/years).
I bought mine march 20th of last year. So far everything has been great and it continues to keep the truck in v8 mode. I couldn’t recommend it more.
@@ibggetsemani1206 I dont believe anything will cause harm to the engine by using it.
Thank you for a very informative video!
Just know with a "disabler" and a tune your lifters can still fail.
That’s true but disabling it decreases the probability of that happening.
No lifter is safe no matter what haha
@nickwebb9937 from my experience it's just luck of the draw with these trucks, I have 100k on mine with no issue however I have a buddy who had to replace his engine 20k in
@@ryanmccombs4360 I definitely agree
Im at 154k & have been praying since day 1 for my lifters not to fail. So far so good😂 16 sierra 5.3
My question is, do you need to tune your engine or transmission after you you get this?
Please don't yell at me but if 4&6 cell is dead, (lifters toast) do I need to replace those to use afm delete?
Yes! 4 went bad, replaced all on passenger side, then 6 went bad. Come to find out all replaced were the wrong parts. When you remove see if the AFM lifters spring rotates. If so make sure the new 1s do as well.
I ordered a 50 dollar knock off, and it works great.
woah a tune runs for 500 out there. Thats pricey especially if its a street tune. They street tune trucks in cali for 200. intersting to see prices vary
Yeah getting the file is 200 lol but you have to buy the hpTuners shit lol dongle, credits etc…so no bro no 200 dollar tunes
People want to tax cause they kneo who to use hptuners. They try that shit years ago in tx. But now everyone knows its cheap
@@Southized I’m in Houston, there’s still no tune with HP tuners that exists for 200 dollars…emailing a off the shelf file isn’t a tune so the guy talking bout tunes in Cali for trucks for 200 is full of BS
@@Sweetjamesjones520 i know people with unlimited credits on hptuners they use the same files for eveyrbody they are cheap

About to order something like this for 2017 chevy instead dod delete
Thanks for the reviews 😃
I got one of these from Amazon. Not this particular one but a $50 one. I have a 2019 with the 8 speed and DFM and it works great. None of these AFM modules on Amazon say they work on trucks above the 2018 model year. Most do state it will not work with 10 speed transmissions.
I've got a 2019 with the 6 speed. I live up in Gadsden if you want to give it a try.
Does anyone know if the 2010 sierra denali have the afm? Looking to buy one soon and would like to know! Thanks
Been reading through the comments. Have a 22 1500 under warranty still. Sounds like I should do the ob plug in until my warranty runs out then do full delete kit? I assume full dod delete kit will void warranty. Correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks!
A true dod delete replaces your lifters/cam so yes that would definitely void your warranty. This would be your best bet to retain warranty
Will this be compatible for a 2020 Camaro ?
I've been using it for like 6 month no problem. 1:59
Hey boss, I just got the same one and my curiosity is that there’s four LED lights on the front but when I’m driving, there’s only three how many of your lights are lit up when you’re driving?
If you watch closely, he has a shot of it working in the white truck and it did look like the 2 on the far left and the farthest one on the right were on. Look at 3:50ish mark. Hope this helps...
Oh cool man I’ll check that out cause that’s exactly what mine is doing 🤙🏼
Thanks bro🤙🏼
@@robertthibodaux6625 - Happy to help, I would say, yours is working as it should! All the best, cheers...
I wonder if I can install this in a Buick Lucerne it has afm I think
What if I do a dod afm delete like non afm lifters pushrods and non afm cam basically regular afm delete but without tune would this work rather than just tuning it give me advice up in the comments it’s 5.3 gen 4 08 Sierra
i have a 24 silverado 1500 does it work on the new trucks?
Do you recommend it for 2015.. 5.3 sliverado ?
Love the videos!!
Come on man clean up the lights on the Sierra or install some new ones
new ones going in sometime soon 👍🏻
How do I know if my 2013 Tahoe has AFM?
Need to use calibrated speed and performance in moody al. His tunes are only 200 buck or at least it was. Bidenomics might have screwed that up. Lol
Where has lorin been does she drive big Betty at all
My buddy has the same module in his truck
keep up the awsome work
What if my 2015 dont say v4 or v8 does this mean previous owner fixed this issue?
Mine doesn't say it either. Slightly different package maybe. Mine is a base model.
Should show on your DIC?

Will the transmission still go in the top gear (6th in my case) with this critter? I am doing the M5 method currently.
Yes
Haha, I just bought this, I have a 15 escalade "i" with a 6 speed. I've been doing M5 forever. I guess we'll see what happens.
Will this work on the 2021 with 8 speed transmission
Shorty needs exhaust work now 😅 I think we ready for a vid
Chase fix Betty up. Eliminate those light. My tahoe have 355,000 miles with no dash light. Also put a cam on her too. That would be interested
It’s got some stupid module bad somewhere that disrupts the stabilitrak/abs. Performance goodies eventually for sure, after a trans build lol
@@lmfscrew there is a sensor in the back on top of the frame by where that hidden top bolt to shocks was. You may have knocked it unloose. Click it back together on both sides should get rid of your Christmas tree 🎄

Meant to say, do they have them for 10 speed tranny?
The Pulsar LT works on those.
It works on my 23 Camaro
Can you use this on a 2024 ?
Thanks just got a different brand on Amazon for $42
Is it still working okay? Are you happy with it?
It don’t work on 2009 Silverado

It should but to be sure, call a near by dealer and have your VIN ready. They should be able to tell you.
Do u drive with the tow mode on
Me, personally, not all the time and not on the HWY. However, every now and again I like to use it in the city, I like the higher RPM per gear before shifting, feels like it's a sports car, LOL.

Hate to see a truck ruined like this but nice video keep up the work
how is it ruined?
Hey can you explain why it would ruin the truck?I’ve been looking into maybe getting a Silverado of this year
@@Bryant234 not the afm being disabled I’m talking about making the truck lowered definitely disable / dod delete that it is the worst invention ever what it does is it will randomly make you truck start to run on 3 cylinders as a way to save on fuel which is just a no because you will loss power more prone to tear , uses more oil all just to save a little on fuel
