My girlfriend's mom sends us frozen bagels in the mail, and we currently have an excess of plain ones. Your timing, as always, is impeccable.
Even if you don’t make the filling, you gotta spend one of those frozen plains on trying the furikake bagel
@@internetshaquille Thanks! Deciding not to run out to get Yuzu Kosho this morning, we mixed together marmalade, a dark yuzu sauce, and onion cream cheese with some diced scallion. It was a huge success!
Holy moly. As a parent of a 1 year old myself, I'm amazed that you can manage to put out a video when you have a two week old. Congratulations, by the way!
Great video as always. You're the only food youtuber I watch and I love every single thing you put out.
#1 reason why I went with a lesson that's just warming up a store-bought bread for 7 minutes 🥴
@@internetshaquilleCongratulations!
@@internetshaquille didn't realize micro shaq was there !!! congrats to Bree ! (and u but just a smidge)
Congratulations to you and your wife :)
@@internetshaquilleAs 1 year old myself, I appreciate any opportunity to Up my Bagel game
would love to try the sponsor but with the quantity and thus price I really can't justify it on a tight budget. Commenting so that the sponsor knows they got engagement and interest, and if they ever do a smaller test size I think a lot of people would give it a try.
BEAM GIVE THIS MAN A DISCOUNT!
As for someone who’s recently diagnosed with Celiac I really appreciate this. Finally found some pretty good bagels but they only come in plain or everything. This is a game changer, thank you!!
which brand? best ones I've found easily available to me are Canyon Bakehouse but always looking for options
@@emilyrisley5613 canyon bake house are usually my go to because winco Carrie’s them. But Schär might have the best plain one. They’re pretty available in most grocery stores
As someone living in a bagel-light country: thank you for this
Same, lack of bagels is one of the worst parts about moving to northern Europe
Selber machen ist echt nicht so ein Aufwand und dann einfrieren. Furikake auch besser selber machen, einfach und günstig. Wollten im Laden €8,00 für so ein kleines Gläschen... 😂😂😂
Where? Australia has a tiny bagel variety
This is a good vid. Thanks for the shine.
3:53 greatest b roll of all time
Extremely nifty, I guessed from the thumbnail the video would be a basic "hey guys, egg wash plain bagles and go nuts" but man is it always nice to have someone speak such golden nuggets from time to time. Thank you brother man 😸
I love how Shaq's always so careful to make sure we understand he's not flexing on us he just really wants us to eat tasty things.
This is a great idea! I bet you could use aquafaba instead of egg whites for a vegan version too.
Veganism promotes Satanism and is a new world order protocol
im going to try a flax egg or just use olive oil
@@shantabraamyan3103It might burn with olive oil, also what is a flax egg
@@Alex-vd1ir it is letting grinded flax seed sit in some water to form a binding mixture. given how little you have to heat it in the oven I think olive oil could take the heat
@@shantabraamyan3103don't know if you've tried it, but it wouldn't stick with oil, they will all fall off when you're eating them
Congratulations to you and Bri on having a child! So excited for you!
If you love that shallot/garlic/chive/green pepper combo, there's a seasoning mix from Penzey's I love (called "Sunny Paris") that incorporates those and chervil, dill, tarragon, and bay! Air fry/convect baking on a salmon fillet for 9min@400 with asparagus or green beans and it's perfect!
Genius idea, perfect timing now that I've moved closer to a good bagel joint. Also congrats on the newest addition to the NetShaq family!
You are the best foodtuber. Thank you for your service, and congrats on your new family member!
My favorite and easy shmear right now is just combining regular cream cheese with enough Seoul Sisters Kimchi Seasoning to make it turn orange. It is so easy and so SO good. I highly recommend. Also thanks Shaq for bring the Kimchi seasoning to my attention during that garbanzo bean video
Link pls?
congratulations on your baby internet shaquille!!
I made Brian's bagels on a whim one weekend and didn't regret it at all. I live in a good bagel region, and am also an asshole probably so I expected to be unimpressed. To anyone wondering if they want to maybe try it out, I'd say the juice is worth the squeeze.
I’m a pretty mediocre baker and Brian’s bagels were easy enough for me to pull off. They do go stale in less than 16 hours though, so don’t expect to have great bagels for the whole week.
i agree, eat what you want as soon as theyre ready and freeze the rest@@ourtube4266
a little water and a toaster oven and they'll be good as new@@ourtube4266
Congrats on the baby! And thank for the recipe+idea. Waiting for the video where you talk about your fave toppings!
Thank you, inspiring me to host a bagel and coffee morning with my pals. I used to cook/ host a lot for my friends but haven't been up for it lately. But this, inspiring!
I recommend topping w/ the traditional lox and co. if ur doing the furikake bagel. I stumbled upon this combo when I didn't have any poppy seeds or everything bagel seasoning in the pantry and it was magic.
thank you for this life-changing bagel tip, and congratulations on the baby!
Definitely gonna start saying "Traders Joe" now.
the yuzu kosho cream cheese is what is gonna make me try this. i never thought of using it like this, and kosho is my favorite condiment 💯
I thought it might be too assertive for everyday bagel-eaters, but so far everyone I’ve served it to has welcomed the tangy spice
Ayeeee congrats on the baby to you both ❤
Lots to love about a video I didn't know I needed to watch. Especially the b-roll of the walking bagel!
Congrats on your new baby!
One of the best videos released so far. What a creative idea!
Congratulations on the baby!
congrats on the baby!!!
My cousin and I ended up creating furikake bagels during our lock down cooking adventures. I knew we were onto something big. Really wanna try the full version with the yuzu cream cheese. That and the hot honey bagel sounded amazing.
Congrats to you and your family. Followed you since "Date Night Meals", can't wait for "Family Meals". Much love to you and yours
Will definitely try this! I tried a plain bagel with cream cheese and furikake spread on top, it had some delicious smoked salmon vibes!
Congrats on the baby man!!
Congrats on the baby! Thanks for the bagel tips. I'm lucky to have a Chicago Bagels and Bialeys in my area because bialeys are bagel's cooler cousin.
Yuzu kasho is amazing, thanks for the tip!
1. Not a fan of nori, but will definitely try this out!
2. You do great work and I thank you for that!
3. Congrats on being a papa!
You literally uploaded after I just finished making some spicy chickpeas on some greek yogurt. Now I have something to watch while I eat!
Congrats on the little one, Shaq! Sheldon Simeon has a fun little anecdote in his most recent cookbook, Cook Real Hawaii, about mistaking an everything bagel for a furikake one the first time he visited New York. Looks like I'm about to whip up a batch of mistaken identity this weekend.
Best food youtuber and personality in general!
Love some furikake on a cucumber or tomato sandwich, this makes a lot of sense! Avocado and lox on a furikake bagel? Yes please
Thank you for shouting out Pinyon! I have friends in Ojai, so I now have an excuse to go up there to see them.
Can’t wait for the homemade baby food recipes!
As a new-ish dad of an 11 month old I've been counting down to the eventual NetShaq pivot to "tasty shit you can throw together super fast with little thought because your brain is melting from sleep deprivation". And its here! And, congrats :)
i live down the street from one of the most famous Montreal bagel shops so i cannot possibly justify making my own.
I’m Mexican-Japanese and the other day I tried the Everything Bagel Seasoning for the first time.
First thing that came to mind is “this is like… yt people’s furikake”.
Internet shaquille you are a very talented guy, you were my favorite viner back in the day, im so glad youre still doing well
thank you ben :)
MAaaaaaan I'm doing this asap! I LOVE Furikake
Are you thinking regular aquafaba for the glue? I should have tested that
Congrats! 😊
I have some salmon flavor furikake, I might be crazy and try doing this with some lox 😍 thanks again Mr shaq
Yea king! Keep it up shaq - you rule
going to try this with a flax egg zatar and tahini
Great Video as usual!
Starting six month from now you'll amaze us with blended furikake bagels and haute quisine mush - I'm sure 😂 congratulations and all the best wishes for little Shaquille!
YOOO CONGRATULATIONS
Just put the rice seasoning my sibling left on some rice, but now that i tried it, i bet it would be awesome on a bagel
BAGELS AND BABIES!!
Congrats on your new favorite spice mix
And the baby too i guess
in 4 or so years your little bundle will be turning heads at preschool with the contents of their lunchbox! congratulations!
Gonna try this furikake bagel with a miso cream cheese!
Congratulations on the baby! Do note that they grow larger with time. So make sure that their cloth covers are reasonably sized. Purple limbs? Time to shop.
Big brain timing I learned about furikake a week ago and was delighted to see it at Traders Joe 😂 6 days ago and bought it
Congrats!
Nice callout to the Bri Guy! His were good enough for something you want quickly or haven’t made bagels before
Damn I love this man
Can point me in the right direction for togarashi? A few years ago I had some avocado toast in an airport with sprouts and togarashi and it was so good! I got some togarashi at the Asian store near me but it’s not as good as the airport one 😩
Congratulations, Papa Shaquille!
congrats on your childddd!!!!!
Looks good
Looks so good! I'm stuck on a plain bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon and capers. Love that but I like a little adventure in my life every now and then!
How can I save this to my "save" file? The only buttons I have are thumbs up/down, share, thanks and clip. No save button.
damn, that trick WAS nifty!
Looking good Shaq
Ooooh. I love furikake, but don't actually *use* mine much bc I don't eat rice dishes like I used to. Maybe I'll have the energy to give this a go. 👍
kosho is SO good!
Wow youre such a breath of fresh air amongst the flood of samey American dudes making cooking videos in my RUclips recommendations.
めっちゃおいしそう!ふりかけのベーグルを作りたいよ
congrats on the baby mi amigo!
This is a great idea. And has inspired me to suggest....za'atar bagel
I’ll try that ASAP- maybe cut in half and pan-fried in a little olive oil for manakeesh vibes
How about some Tony Chachere's with a pickled okra and pearl onion schmear? I'm loving the regional ideas.
Or an Old Bay-gel?
3:52 That Netshaq magic
The inverse of this (everything bagel seasoning on warm rice) is surprisingly really good as well!
Hope you’re having a good day Shaq
Just about died when that bagel beast crawled its craggy fingers toward me
The line "equal parts sweetness and punishment" did something to me 👉👈
Swap the everything seasoning/cream cheese combo for some za'atar and labne
For those of you wondering I looked up the menu and it looks like the bagel in the photo at the beginning from the restaurant is shmear, lox, caper, red onion, dill and cucumber.
This is the version I want to try
Loved the Traders Joe plurality pun
On my way to "Trader's Joe" right now. Thanks Shaq
I just put cream cheese on a plain bagel and sprinkle the everything seasoning on that. It stays on better and is much easier to eat. My kid calls them “sprinkle bagels”
making food accessible one video at a time
10g Ultra-Tex 3 and 250g water, blended with an immersion blender, works even better (discovered in Modernist Bread). Let it sit for a couple hours before using for best results, if possible, and just use it in place of egg mixture found in the video. The toppings adhere even more, and the slurry is tasteless after baking.
Yeah, the Ultra-Tex 3 isn’t a pantry staple, but it’s worth purchasing if you’re planning on doing this often with bagels or any other baked goods.
Sounds harder, slower, and less accessible, but that’s modernist cooking for you!
@@internetshaquilleI agree with you about some of their stuff. And I’ve done the egg way (it’s totally fine). But superior results sometimes take a little extra. And that’s all this is: just a little extra. Once you have the unusual ingredient, besides the suggested wait time, the process is the same (definitely not harder as you’re not separating an egg), but with noticeably superior results. Plus it’s naturally vegan.
You're my RUclips spirit animal, if that makes sense. Unlike so many other content creators on RUclips, you always make feel like I'm getting genuine advice from a friend. Oh, and for everyone who ONLY has access to the Thomas or other store-bought bagels--you can run them through some water before chucking them into a toaster oven. Not sure how to do them with the egg-white topper, but normally this procedure will produce a bagel that is more crispy on the outside and softer on the inside. It makes those store-bought bagels fairly decent if done right.
thank u I think my trick is only posting when I have something to say that I’d share with a friend
@@internetshaquille Good luck with the kiddo. We all really appreciate your content. You've really helped school me (and so many others) on so many topics that I didn't know I would be interested in.
my local bagel shop (olmo in new haven!) sells an “everything everything” with onion, garlic, sesame, black sesame, sea salt, poppy, black pepper, Korean chili flake, cheddar, seaweed, vinegar and tofu bacon
:O
Congratulations! 👶🍼👨🍼
say I want to have a little scrambled eggs with the fancy bagel, can I pour off a little of raw scrambled egg then mix with water to save a bit of effort? will it stick as well? I'm sure it'll taste a little eggier
Hey dude I hope fatherhood is treating you well! Can’t wait to see what you make next.
Not the bagel hand monster 😩
Liking and commenting just for the thumbnail. Furikake bagel is the smartest thing I've ever heard of
spicy bagel is insane though and not in a good way 🤣
This bagel with salmon lox would be incredible
super boy dinner
"Traders Joe" lmao... The pluralization grammar trend on food youtube lately has me 💀😂
he said it that way to get comments about it. looks like it worked.
he also said "she sell" instead of "seashell" for the same reason of garnering engagement.
Congrats on the child!!
Awesome, thanks a ton.
Do you or anyone have an idea for a vegan egg wash replacement?
(Also upvote for more bean content)
Aquafaba!
Ultra-Tex 3. See my comment.
