I’ve seen =w= 35 times and the majority of those were between ‘94 and ‘02. Nothing will ever compare to those shows. Pure hardcore fun was being had by everyone. Awesome memories.
I was at the show in Gainesville 2 nights before this show. I cannot find a bootleg of that show anywhere sadly. It was Dec 7, 1996. I got to talk to then after the show. I got 2 cool stories for ya if you're bored and reading this. When the Dec 7 show ended and beings it was near the college campus where they played, the parking lot was kinda small and I happened to park right where they walked off the stage right into the back parking lot. They were all there just standing and chilling and talking to all of us like we were all just hanging out having a beer. It was the first time I ever got around a band so close but also to talk to them. Most artists are impossible to talk to, let alone get anywhere near. These guys were and still are very real and humble. My other cool, funny, but TOTALLY TRUE STORY is one I'll share. This was I think mid to late Feb 98 or so. (Details are lost to time and my age but the bullet point memories have remained so the story as a core is accurate but some details are fuzzy. So the band had lost Matt Sharp at the time and were looking for a new bassist. They had a website at the time and this was during the infancy of the internet so I had emailed the contact listed on the page. I THINK it was Karl who replied but the next day, I got an email directly from Rivers talking about a tryout rehearsal taking place in I believe it was Chicago sometime in the next month or so, and after several back and forth emails, I was invited to come tryout with them! They were filtering through people via email and a call with one of their reps to see what folks were like. I had two phone calls with reps, but not the band members. I sent the requsted demos of me playing original songs and their songs as well since I knew their whole catalog including rarities like Jamie etc... So the fact I got the direct invite from Rivers was so awesome! I had one problem, I had no time off at work. I pleaded with my manager to let me take a Monday off since the tryout was Sat/Sun pretty much all day you had to sit and wait to be called in, was how it was explained to me so I knew it was possibly long days. There are two regrets I have in my life, 1, I didn't play football like I knew I always wanted and 2, I didn't just take a sick day from work to go attend the tryout. I couldn't afford to lose my job at the time and had already said I wanted to go but if I had just called in sick, it would never have been noticed, So yeah, I had an outside, way outside shot of playing for them. Obviously they just went with people they knew and seeing Scott in there, he's a perfect fit so it sucks but it also is awesome because they are STILL relevant today!! ROCK ON!! =w= I'm sure you are probably asking, did you save the emails? Yes I did for a long time but when I setup my yahoo email on my apple phone a few years back, the default for apple mail is to purge emails older than 90 days until you get to that setting right away to show as never delete. Well, back then I didn't know apple did this so I lost ALL OF THEM and some other follow up emails with them and some other bands of the time like Offspring and Pearl Jam. I'm sorry and so mad that happened because all the details were in those emails. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my little weezer story time.

I was at this show! I have seen a bunch of bands play The Edge, and most of them rocked hard enough to inspire the crowd to developed a decent mosh pit. Faith No More killed it, and Fishbone was insane. The Dancehall Crashers opened for the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and it was so hot and tightly packed that I completely lost consciousness for a bout half a song, but never fell to the floor. I was so disoriented when I woke up, and there were 2 guys who held me up the entire time so that I wouldn't get trampled. It was so loud, I couldn't even thank them properly. I saw NIN, and that was another band that made people want to bounce off of each other. Honestly the only band that actually left me feeling very sore and a little bloody, was Weezer. The Weezer fan-base is no joke. They were absolutely rabid. There is a metal pipe wall in front of the stage,. It has just enough room behind it for security to stand and scan the crowd. I was so close to front and center, but I kept getting shuffled back, so I reached out and grabbed the bar to pull myself closer. One fan behind me grabbed my face and clawed my cheek, and another saw my hand on the bar, and smashed it enough times with his elbow to finally make me let go. On the other hand, it's the passion from the crowd that makes the experience. I completely healed, but I will never forget.
Cause of the leg brace he couldn't move on stage much so he would just do that. You also see it in the bizarre fest concert. Edit: He also wore the long pants to cover the leg brace on his left leg.
