It is awesome to see another Full Right goalie!!! My son likes the Hyperlite and the new hyper2lite goalie sticks. He is almost 6'2" at 13 . We use the 23 inch paddle to ensure proper hand positioning when down in a butterfly. He has broken three hyperlite sticks. One of them happened when he smashed his stick over the crossbar last year in Sweden....
the bauer 3x is probably my favorite stick of all time even at the mid level price point. I've taken numerous shots off the shaft and other than a chip or two form the pipes it hasn't shown any wear at $160 USD amazing stick imo.
Bauer MACH vs Hyperlite goal sticks. I've used both and every stick Bauer has launched since 2016. 1S, 1X, 2SPRO, 2XPRO, Ultrasonic, Hyperlite and now MACH. Here is everything Bauer WILL NOT tell you about their sticks and hopefully I can save you a few dollars.
Great footage. Love the customization and yeah durability is something Bauer has to work on, not a lot of people that can spend $2-3k on sticks over a season. I still got several of my old stick and they are anything but "lite" lol.
I started using Hyperlite after I got a sweetheart deal on sidelineswap. The stick is amazing, but the grip on the stick has worn down very easily. Nothing a little tape won't fix, but not something I had to worry about as much using my previous stick (Warrior M2)
Thanks for the info Trav, luckily I don't have to worry about buying top end sticks for my younger goalie yet but that's good to know in your experience supreme line lasts a lot longer.
My Fischer broke on first practice scrim they shop fought me on a replacement and I got a sherwood which I must admit it’s held up pretty well compared to what people tend to think of Sherwood
My 16U daughter has the hyperlite currently and has what appears to be crack in the shaft in the same place you show in your video. Most likely would be snapped right now if she were a stronger older boy/man.
I have used both the Vapor 3x and Hyperlite. The Hyperlite is slightly lighter but the Vapor 3x is significantly more durable and still very light. In my opinion, the 3x is way better value for your money.
I have a bauer stick but honestly they're really expensive for what you get. I've been using last season's warrior pro+ and it's great. Maybe not as light but zero issues with it.
If you are breaking your sticks in the same spot every time, get them fixed from integral hockey stick repair. I repaired my sons mach stick 4 times, never broke where it was repaired.
I recently had gotten my first hyper lite switching over from a warrior and I loved it everything about it but it cracked right in the shaft. Then I warranted it and got a new hyper lite which cracked after my first skate with it . I just ordered a Mach and i am gonna switch
My 12 year old AAA goalie went through 3 CCM AXIS Pro sticks last season. All in same spot like you said in the shaft. He plays the puck a lot but he's not strong enough to put any flex on it when shooting. It's all been shots off the shaft. Seems excessive, especially for a 12 year old. CCM did not replace any of them, because they were more than 30 days from purchase. I now have him use an AXIS 1.9 for practices and save the Pros fro games. The 1.9 are virtually the same just a few ounces heavier but half the price.
I got 3s Pros from the team last year and they lasted for about 2/3rds of the season of senior hockey, practise and games! you should give them a try trav, i've even seen a lot of pro guys using them.
I am going into my first year of bantam hockey and I’ve never ordered a custom stick I’ve only bought out of stores and it was perfect in 2019 I bought a 2x pro on a sale from 200$ to 90$ it lasted me almost 3 years great stick just a few months ago I got a hyperlite on a sale form 300$ to 180$ I haven’t used the stick on ice yet but I’m excited to
Nice video. I wouldn't say Bauer's marketing is BS. They are listing different features of each stick that go beyond just appearances. I don't know why they have two stick lines, Vapor and Mach. I would say they should have one top-of-the-line stick with all features, and then sell that in 4 different paddle lengths with 3 or 4 different curve options. Maybe, they've pushed the envelope with trying to get the lightest stick too far with the Hyperlite, and they should add more structural rigidity to areas of the stick that break easily in lieu of additional material and weight it adds.
The marketing gets in the way and like you said why 2 sticks? just make one and make it the best. The buzzwords sell people on it but I want to know if it's gonna work for me or not
But you modded the paddle ,i'm sure you can't return a stick that has been cut down by the owner .They would probably say it has a caused the durability issue .
Personally for my budget and play style I use the CCM Premiere P2.5, Yes I know those aren't top end sticks but when durability is such a concern in conjunction with the price point whether retail or custom I tend to shy away. Mainly a weekend warrior type goaltender but the Premiere P2.5 stick I primarily use is still going strong and has lasted a couple of years even before that which shall not be named.
@@trav4oilers Fair enough it is just my personal preference, my gloves and pads are CCM as well, gloves are E-Flex 2 and pads are OG E-Flex and I love all of it
Good review Trav. My son loves his Warrior sticks and, so far, he's had decent luck with them and there's no changing his mind. He did actually break his first one last year. Coincidently right where the shaft meets the paddle. I cringe every time he takes a shot of the shaft. On another note, are you planning a review on the No Name sticks I've seen you playing around with in some of your videos
Got I remember getting my first composite stick and having my heart broken first practice first shot snap at the shaft I was broken haha spent all summer saving and boom all gone haha warranty back then was a joke too haha
I'll agree that Bauer makes the best sticks in terms of performance, hope the durability will be improved on the Mach. Knock on wood my 3S Pro has been holding up just fine so far.
I still can’t figure out how you break your sticks in the middle of the shaft. I’ve been playing goalie since 12 and now 46 and still playing 3 times a week and have never broken a stick on the shaft. It’s always the blade or paddle but that’s usually from self infected smashed over the post.
Hey Trav curious if you have ever give the CCM Axis Pro stick a chance. I felt that the grip didn’t compare to Bauer but it was the best feeling stick I have ever used for deflecting and playing pucks
It will be interesting to see how they hold up. I have a Bauer Gsx I think that what it is. I like it alot. A low budget stick that is as light as the s2 pro I have but feels more durable. I have to search thr interweps to find deals on sticks cause I'm a average Joe guy and can't justify spending $300 on one stick.
I have the ultrasonic now and love every bit of it, but I’m looking for a upgrade.. I’m looking for a stick that feels the same as ultrasonic but lighter, so not sure what to go with, Hyperlite or Mach since mach is heavier
Hey Trav have you used a Bauer total one nxg? I bought a prostock one of Darren allshuller dunno if I spelled it correctly but IV had his stick for a few yrs taking a lot of shots off the shaft no break just the heel is pulling apart due to using it for dek hockey at one point and now I have a split heal that IV tried to repair but it has a crack and crunchy noise when I push on that outter spot 😩 stick held up pretty good
I couldn't afford a new Hyperlite, so I bought a used one. It had been repaired because it snapped at the shaft. So far it's lasted almost 2 seasons with a warranty on the repair zone. That said, I have gone back to my beloved 1S Pro and I'm statring to feel some new flex/softness in the shaft when I play the puck, so I won't be surprised when it eventually breaks, but it's closing in on 3 seasons of use. I do wish the Pentagrip were a standard feature on all top-tier Bauer sticks--that's something truly innovative.
