Beautiful design and fascinating video. Like most construction projects, there were times when a lot was going on, but no visible progress was being made. Heck, at times it looked like things were going backwards. I know that’s just how it appears to non builders, but if that were my back yard and those people working for me, I would have gone nuts.
@@lostchild2003 Two month stop isn’t normal, the overall time definitely is though; since I’m a pool contractor I can honestly say that material sometimes does take 5 weeks to arrive but never 2 months
Thank you for the comment Ignacio. All of the guys who built this pool were great and highly skilled. We made sure to tip them and have refreshments available.
Great video - to see the entire process from start to end in one short sitting is really educational - who would have thought that they can just spray concrete at the walls and it is happy to stay there while they go around and render the surface. Very nice result - makes me want to get a reno on our pool and bring it up to date (Qld Aust).
@@TimDude84 Hi Tim ,I worked in commercial concrete forming for quite a while, but I was wondering how come they do not use polyethelene 10 mil vapor barrier rolls to put down over the soil/dirt and then pour the shotcrete that way the soil would not get mixed in when you shot it and also to help with curing since you would not lose moisture.I do not know about this type of construction just curious.Nice job on the pool though. Thanks
Dam that inspires me to just do it myself the only thing I would pay a team of guys to do is the rebar and concrete the pool stools are genius I would have added a little cave in the grass area for "quiet time"

From June to October we have the neighbors over at least once a month and BBQ. During construction the kids next door put ladders up on the wall to watch the progress.
@@Hajjat Tile, coping and stacked stone were completed on 10/23. Decking is next but that is being done by another company. The pool/jacuzzi price is close to 70k.
Physically it fits perfectly? Because visually it’s a mess. The stones don’t match the wall the wall doesn’t match the house the fence doesn’t match the wall or the house the stones don’t match the existing pavers.
It turned out pretty slick Timbo. I gotta say though, my favorite part is about right where the camera is mounted at the bar. They call that the ole Irish bait. Ive actually swam in that pool in person and the video was so chill I still sat and watched it haha.
The actual building process was interesting and the end result looks great. There is a tragic irony in here somewhere though, the construction of a structure that holds a huge amount of water, facilitated by weather where there was no water to disrupt said construction, in a part of the state which is close to completely running out of water.
Thank you for the comment. When we built the pool in Feb. last year the drought had started to go away... I did buy a large cover for both the pool and spa and that greatly reduced the amount of evaporation. It's close to 80% less evaporation than before.
Beautiful pool. I’m getting started with an owner build as well, I am in Southern California, Temecula area. Would you mind sharing your list of subs you have used and the build plan? Thank you
Hi Saif, everything was done by Mr. Carlos Pools. I didn't hire any subs. As for the build plan... My wife and I made a sketch, then the pool company made the official plan for the city (Permits).
Ooh Aha! 4 months is not a long time for that result. And I would rather for them to take a long time and do it perfect then have to call them back over and over again. It's been a year how has the pool worked out for you? Again Ooh Aha and Wow🤭👍
Beautiful video!!! Don’t get me wrong but I would have finished those cinder block walls prior planting anything. Why not stucco them with some nice finish on the top? Will be relatively cheap to do it. Put some lighting every 6-7 feet reflecting from the wall, finish them with nice tile block on top to give them nice edge… just my thoughts tho, don’t get me wrong please
At 9:04 a drain (the blue square) suddenly appears in the lower left of where the new sidewalk will go, but I never saw them lay down any pipe for it. Where does the drained water go?
Thank you for watching. There were a lot of people involved in the construction. They were all great and knew what they were doing. I would guess around 40 people or so throughout the process.
We built ours just before all of the crazy inflation and it cost us 100K. In today's market... I would say 125K. However; if a recession does hit soon... Hold out for a bit and those prices will come down quickly.
Just learning along and trying to figure out the last couple minutes of the video. Am I correct to assume you built a shotcrete pool? Right before you fillup the pool it looks like your contractor installed a blue colored plastic liner? Am I seeing this correct? What color did you pick? Looks nice!
Hi Bhavik, This is a shotcrete pool and took about 3 weeks to harden. The plaster they applied towards the end is a Pebble Tec coating. It's not a plaster. It's more of a thin colored concrete with small pebbles. Look up Pebble Tec and there are some cool videos out there.
I took about 4 months to construct it. (However; it was more like 9 months with planning, engineering, permits, etc.) We go into more detail in our follow up video. ruclips.net/video/aLTUhnkY9aY/видео.html
