Revisionism! Engles did not free himself from his factory running father, and Marx was not financed only by book sales. Engle used his vast wealth from his family's factory to finance Marx for his whole life.
Ep 5 literally showcases Engels saving Marx’s family from homelessness by paying his rent. Engels clearly refers here that he didn’t have any *current dues* at the factory and could go and meet Marx
