Enjoy your videos. Here in Maryland near the bay we have all our trees outside in the ground in the garden. In the last 10 years we have seen our trees grow to 10-20 feet during growing season and producing figs from late July to early October. The past few years we have gotten the "fiorone" or first figs in late July. They are usually twice the size of the latter crop. We are, unfortunately, not as knowledgeable of our varieties. I only know that my cuttings came from a fig tree from Sicily in the 1950s! We call it white figs whereas others are a bit browner.
I started with the most reliable in central Louisiana: Celeste & Brown Turkey. I plan to get a couple more varieties suited to this region but they have to be cold hardy because Arctic cold fronts are getting worse. There are Purple & Gold varieties developed for Louisiana but due to Google censorship I can`t type the three letters of the college who developed them.

heck yeah man great video....thanks for the knowledge. On the favorite adriatic, I have a bunch but most are first year trees that are still ripening their figs. I have two that are green skin and red inside but I am not sure if they fall under adriatic. They're both very good, and comparing the best fig I've had from each, one is a clear winner. One is Angelito and the other is Shtawi. Again, both very tasty, but one day, I had this fig from the angelito tree that did not taste like the first three I had (and not like the next two I've had). It was next level crazy. Never had a fig like that. I am hoping it was giving me a glimpse of what's to come as the tree matures more.
I have 2/5 figs mentioned here in 7B, MD. Yellow Long Neck and Lattarula but right now they are babies. Trying to expand my fig collection on a budget.
Your figs look so Healthy. What climate are you growing them in? I’m in zone 7b and my figs are just starting to make figs but our climate is getting colder in 4 weeks or so. I don’t have greenhouse, how do you force them to make figs early so the fruits will ripens in time before colder climate hits.
Thanks for your Top 6 review. Here in Australia we can get cuttings of RDB and I258 that I know about. The I258 is very expensive around A$150 to A$180 for a single cutting. How does that compare in Canada? I will have to save up for an I258 cutting!! 😊😊
Gardening depends on the area and the growing zone. I'm in zone 6b (mid=Missouri); my figs froze to the ground this past winter. They have now grown from the roots, but not as large as in these pictures. Take this info with a grain of salt unles you know the grow zones.
Totally excellent video! My second time watching! 👍😄
thanks for the video and recommendations for short growing season
Great video and thank you for sharing! I'm becoming a figs fanatic! I want to buy few cuttings from you.
I totally agree with your list! The only fig I do not know is the Cyprus Honey. That looked really delicious! Thanks for sharing!!

LSU varieties, celeste, and Smith should work well
What is the name of the mesh bags used to protect the fruit, please? I want to buy some.
Note to self: Type at 4:04 looks like the cutting I got in 2023, but lost it's name. Similar types listed at 4:26. Possibly 'black beauty'.

In Sydney, can do a plant for less than that.
Are you in Oregon or Washington
Italian 258, or I 258, is the king of fig no doubt.
