I feel that if Phineas and Isabella had to get together, it should've been in Night of the Living Pharmacists. That episode had the perfect setup to have it happen, between Isabella trying to earn the "Emotional Bravery Patch" by confessing her feelings, and how incredibly worried Phineas gets about Isabella's safety more than in any other episode of the show.
@@JNSC_18 yeah I think he said something about it taking place in an alternate timeline where Milo Murphy’s Law didn’t happen, because then he would already know that he’s going to invent time travel soon and wouldn’t have a reason to want a mid-life crisis.
Tbh the only episode I truly hate is Candace Gets Busted. Candace was activity trying to NOT have a party and Phineas and Ferb unknowingly got her grounded over it.
Yeah, i dont like it feels so rushed. But id say when Phineas 'Seize the day' Flynn proclaims himself he might misspent his summers, uff, that really got me.
@@omarmansuri7099 It’s an interesting idea, (although one that I think is really unfair to him because like, come on, he was just a kid!) but they don’t do anything with it! There’s no consequences for anything that’s brought up.
@@SunnylandProds it is unfair to him. But it would have kinda cool to see his ideology challenged like that. Maybe he realizes that he wasn't wrong at that point and he wouldn't have been mature enough to handle a relationship but that now he's a college student he can actually date someone
Me personally, I admit that Act Your Age is a very very VERY flawed episode, but I still liked it. Not one of my favorite episodes that's for sure but it was fine and I do at least appreciate what Dan and Swampy tried to do. I will say though the ending of Act Your Age where Phineas confronts Isabella the first time til the end of the episode I thought was done well but everything else has to be majorly rewritten. That said this was an interesting video Chandler. Good job. Also one last thing, while I admit Musical Cliptastic Countdown with Kelly Osborne is bad, I will still rather watch that than Candace Gets Busted. I'll gladly take a badly written episode over a mean spirited episode anyday.
@@SunnylandProds I been in Isabella situation where I was friends with my crush and I was in it mainly for the crush, but once I knew the crush wouldnt work, I just got out of their life. Isabella eased out better than I did and if you look up, how to stop being friends with someone without them realizing, you noticed how it's basically you hang out with them less and less, and the people being ditched dont really notice even if you did have a strong friendship with that person. And that's what I believed happened. Also, isnt it annoying when people mistake a deep care for a friend for romance?
Ehhh I mean I'd still rather watch Candace Gets Busted because it has Candace Party And yes I know the cliptastic countdown has 10 amazing songs but I can't watch the middle parts in between them One could say Candace doesn't deserve it, but she pretty much is used to it at this point Plus if I ever feel bad for Candace I can always rewatch CATU and sob uncontrollably at the gift scene
Exactly. It’s weird, because the only thing that’s really become iconic about the episode is the three minutes at the end. And the Doof plot is genuinely great. Everything else besides the song is just kinda there.
Yeah it’s unbelievable. And it is pretty annoying to me, because they’re basically acting as if Last Day of Summer doesn’t exist and that’s my favorite episode of the entire show.
@ewok king technically Quantum Boogaloo shows us the characters 10 years after Act Your Age. Plus Milo Murphy’s Law has all kinds of stuff that takes place after Act Your Age, because they show Doof after he invented time travel 15 years in the future, they show what the world looks like in 2175, the Christmas episode shows 2195, the Goulash episode shows even farther in the future when there’s a war against a bunch of robotic owls and then a super long time after that war there’s a new society that worships the sentient Goulash that saved them from the robot owls, etc.
I loved this episode so much I can't even tell you. It just speaks to me as a person because it's a romance story and that just always gets me. And the fact that it's with characters I've always loved watching and that it's a couple I actively wanted to see get together just made it even better
I just would’ve loved to have a story with more substance. It feels way too much like a generic high school romantic comedy plot, and not even a particularly fun one. But as I said, there is still plenty I do like about it.
The thing that frustrates me is that the episode jumps from A (the overall consent of the show and characters) to D. It lefts so many gaps and questions id love to see in some other teenage-ish Phineas and Ferb episodes. Like, how finally Phineas developed or realised he had a crush on Isabella and why he himself never made any move, how Isabella finally gave up, why they teared appart, how the hell Ferb end up with Vanessa, trully how (sorry I cant really support the ship, I just dont buy it (also...Perry and Vanessa knew eachother, how that played along when Ferb presented her as his girlfriend and them like spiderman pointing meme at eachother. Thats the episode I want to see))
I don't really understand what more they could give on why Phineas didn't make a move. I'd rather see why Isabella didn't make a move. Like an episode where they're in high school and Isabella goes through her rebellious phase or something and gives up on Phineas would be interesting.
@@comethawk2663 Dunno, I just thought some plot Phineas wants to finally make his move, but as he is, builds up a really complicated plan to invite her somewhere or so, but then goes wrong or the mysterious force takes it all away. Or he trying to be romantic but failing miserably, cause its actually shown in the series how he sucks at romance stuff.
One point I just thought of today that I’ll add on: Ferb and Vanessa’s relationship always felt like a Dipper/Wendy situation to me. It’s one of those crushes you have when you’re younger that doesn’t work out. And Dipper and Wendy’s age gap is WAY smaller.

i kind of appreciate someone being so critical of this episode for a change. i relate way too much to being annoyed that so many people think this is the finale
And I wanted to make it clear, I don’t HATE this episode or anything. I’m just frustrated because I feel like it could’ve been so much more than what it is. Although I do hate “We are guys, we do not talk about feelings.”
Oddly enough, the thing that frustrates me most about this episode is a single throwaway line: When Isabella says she kind of gave up on him around high school Phineas responds that he didn't really have a thing for her until high school. It made for a funny joke and all, but now it means that if they ever show Phineas and Ferb in middle school they have to keep Phineas oblivious to Isabella's feelings and have him not return them yet, even though he'd realistically be old enough to start liking her back. The biggest problem it causes is for the fanfiction writers writing a story set when the boys are in middle school. They now have to choose between what's canon compliant and what' s fun to write.
I really wouldn’t want to follow a story where Phineas has feelings for Isabella, or even worse, they both have feelings at the same time. The character dynamic only really works when the feelings are unreciprocated. Any actual romance is something that should be offscreen. Like Aang and Katara in Avatar: TLAB. It’s something that should only happen after the actual story. So if they do make a new series with them in middle school, I’m glad they are locked in with those characters at least. Plus, you’re also assuming Phineas’ feelings to be purely a matter of age. It’s not like he always liked her but just wasn’t old enough for it to be romantic. You can develop feeling at any age. Especially when people are maturing and changing so drastically, as young people do. Nothing weird to me about developing a crush in college.
@@MegaNightmare4 Which is why I really like how MWCA handled the confession, because he doesn’t really reciprocate the feelings yet, but they still remain friends. Like I said, the biggest thing I don’t like about the way this is set up is the idea that they would drift apart as the years go on, but then that’s resolved in a 2 minute conversation.
More important than Twitter: go watch it on Disney+! My buddy Dave and I actually met Swampy at his studio last year, and that’s pretty much what he said as far as Milo Season 3.
Personally, I'm thankful this episode exists. My life is a mess and I don't want to imagine how much more of a mess it would be if I had to live the rest of my life without knowing that Phineas and Isabella (and tbh Ferb and Vanessa too) ended up together. Okay, there are many things that don't really make sense or lack explanation but, as I said, I was just happy to be given that confirmation that they ended up together and sometimes love doesn't need to be complex.
@@SunnylandProds Agreed, maybe they will do something more complex for the 'after the show' plot in a new series or movie in the future. I think it would be interesting to see the point where Isabella stopped trying to get Phineas to return feelings.
@@HonestlyBenjaminit was revealed that she stopped trying around high school. Maybe if there's a time skip to that point in time, we'll get more info about it. And since Phineas and Ferb's getting 2 more seasons, I doubt it won't happen.
I still love this episode. And personally, I think the bond between Phineas and Isabella was maintained throughout the years, and that they kept up their friendship, but that it was a more physical distancing and hanging out less as they grew older.

Yeah the Star Wars special and Night of the Living Pharmacists are some of my favorite specials. My favorite one is Last Day of Summer, but I also like Mission Marvel and OWCA Files.
personally for me i really liked the episode and im just really glad they even showed phineas and isabella eventually getting together instead of just leaving it ambiguous. though i i'll admit it does have quite a bit of flaws and you do bring some pretty good points and criticism about it.Also i feel like one thing that could have made this episode a lot better is if it was longer like say about as long as the last day of summer episode.
I feel like it didn’t really need to be a 44 minute episode, because even if they had more time to extend the plot I still don’t think it would be as good as the other 44 minute episodes. It would probably have even more hype than it already did and still not live up to most people’s expectations. It would be interesting though if they made it a 33 minute episode

This song actually hit home with me for several months, as a girl who was very in love with her best friend, who had a girlfriend. I really liked him in middle school, and then gave up in high school. Unbeknownst to me, he liked me in high school. Lots of really unfortunate timing. He had a girlfriend for six months, and my feelings resurfaced when I faced going to college and leaving him behind... this song made me cry, ngl😂😂 Ps We’re dating now😁😁😁
Yeah this video sums it up perfectly; it had some funny moments, and the song is perfect, but it could have been sooo much better and that's a bummer :/
This episode literally only serves a point for a good B plot, a good song, and making Phinabella canon. I love the series, it's like, one of the best things ever, but this was extremely subpar to it's usual standards. Also, because of Milo Murphy's Law, the timeline changed anyways, so it's technically still not confirmed. But we all know that there has been a mistake in the coding of the universe if Phineas and Isabella never end up together.
Exactly. Now, Dan has said that the Doof plot isn’t canon post MML, but then that would mean there’s no dumpster to get rid of the date. (Not that it matters since Phineas and Isabella never go into the backyard during the episode anyways.)
@@SunnylandProds Yeah, so how would they even get together? You were right when you said it was more like a fanfic, but it's sad that I've seen a few fanfics that are more accurate than this episode. I wish they could redo it or someone could rewrite it somehow and we could see something that fits the show and characters better, because the kiss was great and all, but the confession was... lackluster for something _that_ built up.

I am probably wrong on this but my biggest annoyance with the whole Phinibella thing in general is how it almost tries to...I guess make Phineas seem like a bad person for not recognizing Isabella's feelings? Also like you said, the idea that their friendship rests on whether or not love would blossom from it. It would make all of Isabella's efforts to help Phineas seem like she was just trying to help him in exchange for the idea that he'd be in love with her in return. Like from my perspective I guess it just seems...incelish. I hate playing this card but if the roles were reversed, we'd all agree Phineas would be weird. Plus AYA didn't have enough Candace 0/10. There was so much potential and comedy in how Candace feels about trying to "bust" her brothers still. Maybe she'd be joking about it or even be past that stage.
I don’t think you’re wrong at all! I think the biggest crime of this episode is that it really doesn’t take enough stock in the strength of their friendship.
I think the episode works for most of us because the entire series has been one unsatisfying sequence after another of Isabella failing to get Phineas to notice her. It was a simple, low-key, cathartic episode meant to signify that the characters we grew to care about have finally realized the importance they have to one another. It didn't need to be anything bigger or more grand than that. The adventures are over, but it doesn't mean a smaller adventure couldn't begin.
As someone that grew up with the show but didn’t watch the final season and just now watched it, I thought it was very well done. They’re older now. I enjoyed that it wasn’t over the top or even out there like their normal episodes. (And if you’ve ever had a conversation with someone that you liked but they didn’t like you, it’ usually very similar to the way that they wrote it. Cliche doesn’t mean it wasn’t truthful or honest) But to each his own 😁
I honestly hated the A plot in this episode. Seeing these characters as teenagers would have been interesting since we could have seen how they've grown and changed, but instead the episode focuses on a predictable and trite last-minute love confession. Also, I think it would have been great character development if Isabella had out-grown her crush and moved on with her life as opposed to clinging onto it, since withholding your childhood crush for so many years is kind of creepy and unrealistic. If the show-runners wanted Isabella and Phineas to get together, they should have showcased them as an established couple, that way this great concept wouldn't have been wasted on a rom-com plot. We could have gotten a bittersweet episode where the gang make one last crazy contraption together before they go their separate ways.
Oh, man you know for Russians when episodes or films air earlier then in for example US we are so happy, 'cause otherwise it can air weeks or (if we are talking about tv-series episodes) months and years later then in other world
Ngl this episode was my least favorite. A whole 10 years like how does Phineas become so oblivious like W H A T. The end is also like... bruh. Where the HELL did those 6 come from, were they just stalking them like creepy much? If this was a year or 2 later whatever but 10 is just overkill also im bad at writing this HELP
I think Phineas and Isabella drifting apart makes perfect sense. Maybe some people would want to stay friends, but I would never stay friends with someone I was interested in romantically if my feelings weren't reciprocated. To me, that's a toxic relationship that continuously beats me down and reminds me it won't work out, which is what is looks like Isabella is experiencing over the years. And of course if hope is sparked for that to work again, it would be resolved quickly, at least in the moment. A long-lost love coming running to you at a transition point in your life? Makes sense to me! The only problem I have is that the show and a lot of fans act like this is all Phineas' fault for not making a move on Isabella, when she was the one who had feelings for him. She chose to give up on him before even directly stating her feelings. Sure, Phineas is oblivious, but that's just how some people are and she knows that's how he is and she is still never direct with him.
I agree that she absolutely should’ve made a move. It wasn’t a toxic relationship, Isabella was just... Busy, I guess? I don’t know, we don’t get any real explanation. And again, what were the Fireside Girls doing to not try and get them together for homecoming or something?
@@SunnylandProdsmaybe we'll get answers in one of the two seasons. Dan confirmed that there's gonna be a continuation to the Act Your Age episode. If that involves flashbacks, we might get more answers.
I do want to defend them drifting apart after middle school a little bit, because although it’s pretty sad to think about, I personally have gone through the exact same thing (loosing a childhood friend right around high school because I had an unreciprocated crush). If you love someone, especially for that long, but they don’t notice or reciprocate it is very painful, and it’s very easy to distance yourself from the source of that pain. I don’t want this to be like “no you have to accept this episode bc it’s canon!!” Because it’s completely snazz to have different interpretations of fictitious works, but I just want to provide a reason for why Isabella might have been written that way.
Gotta say. Nice explanation as I too have been mixed about this episode. It’s a cool concept and the Midlife crisis subplot is perfect. But the rest is pretty forced to get the episode to work in a specific way. But I like your explanation of how Phineas and Isabella mutually benefit each other wether they’re together or friends. It’s something that should of been the focus instead of them going to college. Great work!!!
One of the main things I dislike about this episode is that Vanessa and Ferb are an endgame couple. I know they had some chemistry throughout the show, but I don’t like it because it erases one of my favorite ships: Montynessa. I thought those two had a great dynamic and great chemistry, and to see them supposedly breakup off-screen with absolutely no mention completely baffled me. There was no reason for their relationship to end. Or, at least, no reason that we knew of.
Personally, I love this episode, but I understand your complaints. Note that I’m pretty sure this episode has been retconned due to Doof’s building being destroyed in The Phineas and Ferb Effect, despite appearing in Act Your Age. Also, you talk about about Isabella not being the same without Phineas, but what about Baljeet not being the same without spoons?

Granted the Vanessa/Ferb thing is a little weird but the age-gap is only four years so she'd be 22. Assuming Ferb told her how he felt recently they had plenty of time to get to know each other as friends first for the transition to be less awkward.
That math doesn’t add up, though. Phineas and Ferb are supposed to be teenagers (just out of high school going to college) and Vanessa would be 26 because she was 16 10 years ago.
@@SunnylandProds I could have sworn at some point it was stated that P&F were twelve or so. Eight at the beginning of the series seems too young for their designs and general social skills. Quantum Boogaloo was a twenty year jump and Future Linda said her boys were in their thirties at least even if that's still a little vague. Come to think of that would mean Amanda would have to have already been born and about two and Candace still got her law degree. So good for her and Jeremy I guess.
@@MuffinHunterX I HC them as 10, 100%. But that’s not the math the episode gives us based on the age people go to college in America. (I also feel like Phineas, Ferb and their friends would’ve absolutely done duel enrollment at the local community college prior to actual college.)
I think it would be really interesting if it showed the final scene from Act your age, and then it was revealed to be a dream in Isabella’s perspective.
I’m writing this comment before I watch this. I say it’s my most rewatched p and f episode and if I love it. If I find anything in this that changes my mind, it’ll be in the bottom. 1. I agree. The last day of summer is the last. I go crazy about this 2. Sorry, I don’t think so at all. It’s heartwarming. 3. I kinda guess so. But remember, Phineas hadn’t seen Isabella all summer because she had been busy. 4. I know. But then it wouldn’t be canon. And we all want it to be canon. Look at ferbnessa, in logic, it wouldn’t work, but everybody wants it to happen. In conclusion, I don’t completely agree with you, I agree with somethings, but not all. I still think it’s one of the top ten episodes in all of p and f. But, you did make some fair points, so I’ll give you a like!

I didn’t make this with the intention of getting clickbait rage clicks like people do about The Last Jedi and Captain Marvel. I just wanted to throw my opinion out there. Okay, I did figure that this particular episode would get me a good amount of attention, and I wasn’t wrong. Although I had no clue I was gonna get 45K views and counting... But I’ve loved the (mostly civil) discussion in the comments here!
I never liked this episode and I thought I was the only one. Especially the kiss I was so scared Phineas was gonna poke Isabella's eye out with his nose.
The “out of character” part, people change, im sure your not the same person you where when you were a teen/pre-teen, idk about the Isabella phineas drift, but it could be that she had a childhood crush, that she eventually got over, which changed how she acted towards him, which changed their dynamic
You are correct that people realistically change, but in shows like these you can’t just 180 a characters personality without context. If we saw the gradual change, or if we were given a reason for the change, there wouldn’t be a problem. However, just changing the characters because “they’re older now” comes off as fanfic-like and a slap to the face for people who were invested in those characters.

Yeah my first thought while watching this was who did Phineas and Isabella go with to the prom? Was Phineas building a taco submarine that travels through land? Like seriously!?
I... kinda agree with you. Hard to sum up in a comment without making it an essay lol. What I can say quickly is that limiting it to one episode is probably where most of the problems lie. Exploring how all these like 10+ characters changed and what happened between them after like 10 years is something that I would have recommended they take at least the time of a feature length film to properly portray.

God I remember the second half of season 4 airing in Russia before the US (and the fandom losing their minds with it, lol) like it was yesterday. Not a big fan of the teenager designs, most of them looks like were not fully thought out, with only the torso and limbs stretched to make the characters seem taller. A few more passes could solved that, though. As the episode itself, I don't think it is that bad, I like the songs and Doof's B-plot. But it was clearly written as fanservice making the final product sounds more like an expensive fanfiction. Kinda miss the Original Pitch Phineas idea, who is very aware of Isabella's crush on him and feels bothered by that.
I wouldn’t have minded a version where they have dual crushes on each other but don’t really wanna “date” yet cuz they’re still kids so they just sometimes flirt with each other & mess with each other.
I agree with pretty much everything you said. I've been saying the say things to myself since the episode aired. If there was anything I could do to change the episode I would make it a 40-60 min episode instead of the regular 30 min. Also I would have had Isabella reject Phineas somewhere in my version and have her think does she still want to be with Phineas even after all these years. Also I would cut out most of the stuff with the fireside girls, Balijeet, Buford, and Ferb. I would do this because I don't understand why now they would try to get Phineas and Isabella together. If anything I would have only had Ferb try to help Phineas and Isabella. After the song "What might have Been" Isabella is shown driving off to I assume her college but she turns around off screen to make her way to Phineas' house. I would have made Isabella go to college and have Phineas come to her instead. At the end then I would put the two of them together. The only thing that I didn't agree with you was the out of character part. But I'm glad you did point out the fact about Balijeet and Buford about expressing their feelings because I did not notice this the first time watching this episode. But it has been years so their way of thinking probably has changed. Other than that I enjoyed the video.

That episode had the perfect setup to have it happen, between Isabella trying to earn the "Emotional Bravery Patch" by confessing her feelings, and how incredibly worried Phineas gets about Isabella's safety more than in any other episode of the show.

Tbh the only episode I truly hate is Candace Gets Busted. Candace was activity trying to NOT have a party and Phineas and Ferb unknowingly got her grounded over it.

Me personally, I admit that Act Your Age is a very very VERY flawed episode, but I still liked it. Not one of my favorite episodes that's for sure but it was fine and I do at least appreciate what Dan and Swampy tried to do.
I will say though the ending of Act Your Age where Phineas confronts Isabella the first time til the end of the episode I thought was done well but everything else has to be majorly rewritten.
That said this was an interesting video Chandler. Good job.
Also one last thing, while I admit Musical Cliptastic Countdown with Kelly Osborne is bad, I will still rather watch that than Candace Gets Busted. I'll gladly take a badly written episode over a mean spirited episode anyday.

@@SunnylandProds I been in Isabella situation where I was friends with my crush and I was in it mainly for the crush, but once I knew the crush wouldnt work, I just got out of their life.
Isabella eased out better than I did and if you look up, how to stop being friends with someone without them realizing, you noticed how it's basically you hang out with them less and less, and the people being ditched dont really notice even if you did have a strong friendship with that person.

Plus Milo Murphy’s Law has all kinds of stuff that takes place after Act Your Age, because they show Doof after he invented time travel 15 years in the future, they show what the world looks like in 2175, the Christmas episode shows 2195, the Goulash episode shows even farther in the future when there’s a war against a bunch of robotic owls and then a super long time after that war there’s a new society that worships the sentient Goulash that saved them from the robot owls, etc.

I loved this episode so much I can't even tell you. It just speaks to me as a person because it's a romance story and that just always gets me. And the fact that it's with characters I've always loved watching and that it's a couple I actively wanted to see get together just made it even better
I just would’ve loved to have a story with more substance. It feels way too much like a generic high school romantic comedy plot, and not even a particularly fun one. But as I said, there is still plenty I do like about it.

The thing that frustrates me is that the episode jumps from A (the overall consent of the show and characters) to D. It lefts so many gaps and questions id love to see in some other teenage-ish Phineas and Ferb episodes. Like, how finally Phineas developed or realised he had a crush on Isabella and why he himself never made any move, how Isabella finally gave up, why they teared appart, how the hell Ferb end up with Vanessa, trully how (sorry I cant really support the ship, I just dont buy it (also...Perry and Vanessa knew eachother, how that played along when Ferb presented her as his girlfriend and them like spiderman pointing meme at eachother. Thats the episode I want to see))

I love the comedic relief in this video rather than just, “This show bad.”
Oddly enough, the thing that frustrates me most about this episode is a single throwaway line: When Isabella says she kind of gave up on him around high school Phineas responds that he didn't really have a thing for her until high school. It made for a funny joke and all, but now it means that if they ever show Phineas and Ferb in middle school they have to keep Phineas oblivious to Isabella's feelings and have him not return them yet, even though he'd realistically be old enough to start liking her back.
The biggest problem it causes is for the fanfiction writers writing a story set when the boys are in middle school. They now have to choose between what's canon compliant and what' s fun to write.
Which is why I’d just ignore it and write what’s fun. Besides, time travel exists in this world, so literally anything is subject to change

I really wouldn’t want to follow a story where Phineas has feelings for Isabella, or even worse, they both have feelings at the same time. The character dynamic only really works when the feelings are unreciprocated. Any actual romance is something that should be offscreen. Like Aang and Katara in Avatar: TLAB. It’s something that should only happen after the actual story. So if they do make a new series with them in middle school, I’m glad they are locked in with those characters at least.
Plus, you’re also assuming Phineas’ feelings to be purely a matter of age. It’s not like he always liked her but just wasn’t old enough for it to be romantic. You can develop feeling at any age. Especially when people are maturing and changing so drastically, as young people do. Nothing weird to me about developing a crush in college.

Personally, I'm thankful this episode exists. My life is a mess and I don't want to imagine how much more of a mess it would be if I had to live the rest of my life without knowing that Phineas and Isabella (and tbh Ferb and Vanessa too) ended up together. Okay, there are many things that don't really make sense or lack explanation but, as I said, I was just happy to be given that confirmation that they ended up together and sometimes love doesn't need to be complex.
And I’m certainly glad that they confirmed that they do get together, but I still feel like we could’ve gotten a more interesting episode out of it.

personally for me i really liked the episode and im just really glad they even showed phineas and isabella eventually getting together instead of just leaving it ambiguous. though i i'll admit it does have quite a bit of flaws and you do bring some pretty good points and criticism about it.Also i feel like one thing that could have made this episode a lot better is if it was longer like say about as long as the last day of summer episode.
I feel like it didn’t really need to be a 44 minute episode, because even if they had more time to extend the plot I still don’t think it would be as good as the other 44 minute episodes. It would probably have even more hype than it already did and still not live up to most people’s expectations.

This episode literally only serves a point for a good B plot, a good song, and making Phinabella canon. I love the series, it's like, one of the best things ever, but this was extremely subpar to it's usual standards.
Also, because of Milo Murphy's Law, the timeline changed anyways, so it's technically still not confirmed.
But we all know that there has been a mistake in the coding of the universe if Phineas and Isabella never end up together.

I am probably wrong on this but my biggest annoyance with the whole Phinibella thing in general is how it almost tries to...I guess make Phineas seem like a bad person for not recognizing Isabella's feelings?
Also like you said, the idea that their friendship rests on whether or not love would blossom from it. It would make all of Isabella's efforts to help Phineas seem like she was just trying to help him in exchange for the idea that he'd be in love with her in return.
Like from my perspective I guess it just seems...incelish. I hate playing this card but if the roles were reversed, we'd all agree Phineas would be weird.
Plus AYA didn't have enough Candace 0/10. There was so much potential and comedy in how Candace feels about trying to "bust" her brothers still. Maybe she'd be joking about it or even be past that stage.

I think the episode works for most of us because the entire series has been one unsatisfying sequence after another of Isabella failing to get Phineas to notice her. It was a simple, low-key, cathartic episode meant to signify that the characters we grew to care about have finally realized the importance they have to one another. It didn't need to be anything bigger or more grand than that. The adventures are over, but it doesn't mean a smaller adventure couldn't begin.
As someone that grew up with the show but didn’t watch the final season and just now watched it, I thought it was very well done. They’re older now. I enjoyed that it wasn’t over the top or even out there like their normal episodes.
(And if you’ve ever had a conversation with someone that you liked but they didn’t like you, it’ usually very similar to the way that they wrote it. Cliche doesn’t mean it wasn’t truthful or honest)
But to each his own 😁
I honestly hated the A plot in this episode. Seeing these characters as teenagers would have been interesting since we could have seen how they've grown and changed, but instead the episode focuses on a predictable and trite last-minute love confession. Also, I think it would have been great character development if Isabella had out-grown her crush and moved on with her life as opposed to clinging onto it, since withholding your childhood crush for so many years is kind of creepy and unrealistic. If the show-runners wanted Isabella and Phineas to get together, they should have showcased them as an established couple, that way this great concept wouldn't have been wasted on a rom-com plot. We could have gotten a bittersweet episode where the gang make one last crazy contraption together before they go their separate ways.

I think Phineas and Isabella drifting apart makes perfect sense. Maybe some people would want to stay friends, but I would never stay friends with someone I was interested in romantically if my feelings weren't reciprocated. To me, that's a toxic relationship that continuously beats me down and reminds me it won't work out, which is what is looks like Isabella is experiencing over the years. And of course if hope is sparked for that to work again, it would be resolved quickly, at least in the moment. A long-lost love coming running to you at a transition point in your life? Makes sense to me!
The only problem I have is that the show and a lot of fans act like this is all Phineas' fault for not making a move on Isabella, when she was the one who had feelings for him. She chose to give up on him before even directly stating her feelings. Sure, Phineas is oblivious, but that's just how some people are and she knows that's how he is and she is still never direct with him.

I do want to defend them drifting apart after middle school a little bit, because although it’s pretty sad to think about, I personally have gone through the exact same thing (loosing a childhood friend right around high school because I had an unreciprocated crush). If you love someone, especially for that long, but they don’t notice or reciprocate it is very painful, and it’s very easy to distance yourself from the source of that pain. I don’t want this to be like “no you have to accept this episode bc it’s canon!!” Because it’s completely snazz to have different interpretations of fictitious works, but I just want to provide a reason for why Isabella might have been written that way.

Gotta say. Nice explanation as I too have been mixed about this episode. It’s a cool concept and the Midlife crisis subplot is perfect. But the rest is pretty forced to get the episode to work in a specific way. But I like your explanation of how Phineas and Isabella mutually benefit each other wether they’re together or friends. It’s something that should of been the focus instead of them going to college. Great work!!!

One of the main things I dislike about this episode is that Vanessa and Ferb are an endgame couple. I know they had some chemistry throughout the show, but I don’t like it because it erases one of my favorite ships: Montynessa. I thought those two had a great dynamic and great chemistry, and to see them supposedly breakup off-screen with absolutely no mention completely baffled me. There was no reason for their relationship to end. Or, at least, no reason that we knew of.
My theory is doof and major monogram found out they were dating soooo they had to be forced to break up, that's the only reason that makes sense
Personally, I love this episode, but I understand your complaints. Note that I’m pretty sure this episode has been retconned due to Doof’s building being destroyed in The Phineas and Ferb Effect, despite appearing in Act Your Age.
Also, you talk about about Isabella not being the same without Phineas, but what about Baljeet not being the same without spoons?
The episode could use a rewrite but the main plot line (Phinebella) would end up mostly the same.
Maybe he rebuilt it. You never know what happens in the future.

I would argue that the "we do not talk about feelings" bit is joke because it's out of character, but otherwise, great video.
I know it was meant as a joke, but it still pisses me off.
Granted the Vanessa/Ferb thing is a little weird but the age-gap is only four years so she'd be 22.
Assuming Ferb told her how he felt recently they had plenty of time to get to know each other as friends first for the transition to be less awkward.
That math doesn’t add up, though. Phineas and Ferb are supposed to be teenagers (just out of high school going to college) and Vanessa would be 26 because she was 16 10 years ago.
@@SunnylandProds I could have sworn at some point it was stated that P&F were twelve or so. Eight at the beginning of the series seems too young for their designs and general social skills.
Quantum Boogaloo was a twenty year jump and Future Linda said her boys were in their thirties at least even if that's still a little vague.
Come to think of that would mean Amanda would have to have already been born and about two and Candace still got her law degree. So good for her and Jeremy I guess.
@@MuffinHunterX I HC them as 10, 100%. But that’s not the math the episode gives us based on the age people go to college in America. (I also feel like Phineas, Ferb and their friends would’ve absolutely done duel enrollment at the local community college prior to actual college.)

I’m writing this comment before I watch this. I say it’s my most rewatched p and f episode and if I love it. If I find anything in this that changes my mind, it’ll be in the bottom.

I never liked this episode and I thought I was the only one. Especially the kiss I was so scared Phineas was gonna poke Isabella's eye out with his nose.
It’s kinda weird that they kissed, I mean it’s good to see them being together but the kiss I swear😭-
The “out of character” part, people change, im sure your not the same person you where when you were a teen/pre-teen, idk about the Isabella phineas drift, but it could be that she had a childhood crush, that she eventually got over, which changed how she acted towards him, which changed their dynamic
You are correct that people realistically change, but in shows like these you can’t just 180 a characters personality without context. If we saw the gradual change, or if we were given a reason for the change, there wouldn’t be a problem. However, just changing the characters because “they’re older now” comes off as fanfic-like and a slap to the face for people who were invested in those characters.

I... kinda agree with you. Hard to sum up in a comment without making it an essay lol. What I can say quickly is that limiting it to one episode is probably where most of the problems lie. Exploring how all these like 10+ characters changed and what happened between them after like 10 years is something that I would have recommended they take at least the time of a feature length film to properly portray.
At the very least, cut the Doof plot. (It’s great, but if the focus is gonna be on the kids, let the focus actually be on them.)

God I remember the second half of season 4 airing in Russia before the US (and the fandom losing their minds with it, lol) like it was yesterday.
Not a big fan of the teenager designs, most of them looks like were not fully thought out, with only the torso and limbs stretched to make the characters seem taller. A few more passes could solved that, though.
As the episode itself, I don't think it is that bad, I like the songs and Doof's B-plot. But it was clearly written as fanservice making the final product sounds more like an expensive fanfiction. Kinda miss the Original Pitch Phineas idea, who is very aware of Isabella's crush on him and feels bothered by that.
I wouldn’t have minded a version where they have dual crushes on each other but don’t really wanna “date” yet cuz they’re still kids so they just sometimes flirt with each other & mess with each other.
I agree with pretty much everything you said. I've been saying the say things to myself since the episode aired. If there was anything I could do to change the episode I would make it a 40-60 min episode instead of the regular 30 min. Also I would have had Isabella reject Phineas somewhere in my version and have her think does she still want to be with Phineas even after all these years. Also I would cut out most of the stuff with the fireside girls, Balijeet, Buford, and Ferb. I would do this because I don't understand why now they would try to get Phineas and Isabella together. If anything I would have only had Ferb try to help Phineas and Isabella. After the song "What might have Been" Isabella is shown driving off to I assume her college but she turns around off screen to make her way to Phineas' house. I would have made Isabella go to college and have Phineas come to her instead. At the end then I would put the two of them together. The only thing that I didn't agree with you was the out of character part. But I'm glad you did point out the fact about Balijeet and Buford about expressing their feelings because I did not notice this the first time watching this episode. But it has been years so their way of thinking probably has changed. Other than that I enjoyed the video.

18-19 year old Ferb dating 26(ish) year old Vanessa isn't technically creepy since he'd be legally an adult by then.
I used to really be into this show but fell behind in episode releases and saw the trailers for this and then never saw anything about other episodes so I assumed it was the last episode
