The reason why grizzy had the mask on is that if you hold it in your inventory for too long, it will make the player put on the mask automatically.
Not true. You will only transform, if you put on the mask or if you're transformed by another Masked. Comedy (the smiling one) has a check associated with being turned, while Tragedy (the frowning one) will turn you immediately, when you put it on.
