    My sprinter has 300k miles. Replaced the EGR twice. Now I clean it about every other oil change and eliminate the problem. I clean the maf every time I change the air filter.

      I'm curious if your MAF is working or van is running fine on calculated MAF values. Have you seen my simple MAF sensor test video? As I understand AMF cleaner spray is intended for hot wire technology and our vans use hot film technology for our MAF sensors. Aresol and air blasts can damage the film destroying the sensor.

      @FloridaVanMan It runs great, but like you said, it could be bad and doesn't set a code. I don't use spray cleaner. I rinse it with alcohol and let it air dry for a few hours before reinstalling. It hasn't had the recall. I took it to the Dodge dealer when I got the notice and was told parts wouldn't arrive for months, so I declined.

    I just put a new MAF and EGR valve and after re crimping all the wires at the ECM everything started working. I have the Autel MD808 Pro

    Good presentation specific to the OM647. Perchance, is this an issue with the OM612 ?

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  17 дней назад +1

      Not that I've seen and from what I know of the differences in ECM programming it is not a possibility. The OM612 uses a different model of MAF sensor and a different way of dealing with its aging changes, so not able to adapt itself out of range.

    Great vid🤙does the 2003 311 have a maf? Mines deff has less power than it used to!

      UK versions don't have EGR but I think they have MAF sensors just like our American versions.

      @FloridaVanMan many thanks,so that doesn't explain why I have intermittent performance dips! Only lasts for few mins then picks up again.....puzzling🤔

    I was hoping hoping hoping this would work on mine. My EGR value moves but I get weird behavior when it is very hot out. Like above 90f I get a low power condition. I was hoping MAF needed to be "zeroed" Dealer humored me and did the reinitialization of MAF. No change in my weird MAF codes that seem to be stored and will not permanently clear. Still baffled. Did a big 1500 mile trip last week. Codes on 50% of startups, cleared and ran great. 16-17mpg. Great power because hottest temp was 90. Dealer was clueless to what could be my issue with the stored codes not clearing. Even with a known good MAF installed.

    This is what I’m experiencing right now with my 06 sprinter.
    I pulled the EGR and cleaned it, was super dirty with black soot. I bought a new MAF.
    The original problem was low power or no power on hills, blowing heavy black smoke.
    Right now I’m running it with the MAF unplugged. When I plug the MAF in the turbo actuator arm moves and the van is super sluggish. When I run it without the MAF the van runs with ok but not great power. I even seem to get better mileage with the MAF unplugged.
    I was thinking to disconnect my EGR and see how she runs with the MAF reconnected.
    BTW the first thing I did was change the engine air filter.
    I would appreciate and thoughts or ideas you may have.

      Tricky situation between the EGR and MAF. Based on what you are saying I would try testing the MAF with volt meter as seen in one of my early videos, then resetting the values as seen in this video perhaps in conjunction with a new MAF sensor. If codes and weakness persists replace EGR. The black smoke tells us you are losing boost somewhere and it is possible the van is merely miscalculating the air due to MAF sensors.... but the real reason we start there is because we can pass or fail the MAF sensor based on simple test and if it fails there is no point in replacing the EGR until the MAF is good. Likely cause for black smoke is the EGR releasing gasses (open) when it should be closed (6%).

      Bill I am having problems with low boost also , has given me maf sensor and low boost readings from my Autel Maxi-Diag scanner guess I should get the AP-200 reader to get better readouts but any way the way this is pretty long story I will e-mail you the story and possibly set up an appointment with you to get a handle on this constant limp mode I am in. Last trip was held at about 2400rpm. 69mph. Thanx Don keep putting out those great videos.

    Hey Guys, where abouts did you get the cracked version of DAS for a tablet? I'd like to get it so I can utilize factory programming. Thanks!

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  3 месяца назад

      There are many versions available on eBay. I strongly recommend against buying injectors or other important parts on eBay, but in this case we are looking for a cracked*hacked product and the 'red-light districts' of retail sales is where we find cracked and hacked items. Getting the best version is VERY difficult and will vary based on your needs. To find a version that works for this reset I bought 4 times! The DAS we used years ago expired and I could not get it going agin so I bought a new hard drive that did not have the option. Then I bought a laptop said to have all the options I asked for. It did not have this reset. I acquired another DRBIII through trade hoping it would be updated later than my original dealership tool. It also failed to support this reset that was added by online update in late 2015. Most versions of DAS will be older versions, and some newer versions that were not updated before hacked and copied. I offer a loaner tablet that is fairly* easy to use. I've had to raise the deposit to $600 plus $150 for shipping and my service. You get the deposit back when I get the tablet back.

    My EGR is stuck at 6% when turbo boost stops.. I see that turbo valve is open and it won’t close.. but when I turn off and back on the van EGR value changes but back to 6% after few miles and turbo power is gone again.. do you think this will fix my issue?

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  3 месяца назад +1

      No, you are experiencing limp mode which heavily restricts turbo and disables EGR. We have a video on many causes of limp mode.

  • @olko315

    Deleted the EGR. Not having the problem with MAF, never ever had to replace it.

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  3 месяца назад

      Depending how your van was 'tuned' with the EGR delete programing, you may have more or less power, economy and longevity*. Keep in mind the three are a balance and any improvement in one has a cost in the others. Longevity is not a guarantee of how long your engine will last but increasing the power and economy decreases the 'average expectancy'. This balance of three powers was originally compromised by the design engineers to satisfy customers and maximize longevity for continued Mercedes brand reputation. Arguably, we can afford to trim a little off the 'average expectancy' and still get a lifetime of service from our Sprinters.

    • @olko315

      @@FloridaVanMan tuned perfect 👍 getting 20 mpg in city. Nothing good about the EGR clogged intake manifold, not enough volume of air, as a result more fuel use. It passed 500k and keep rolling.

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  3 месяца назад

      @@olko315 That's really not how our intake works. We cannot compensate low air volume with more fuel. With your EGR not opening your onboard computer is unable to displace oxygen to avoid overly hot combustion chambers that might damage the head so it reduces fuel in self protection. A 'tune' to go with your EGR delete probably permits grater O2 sensor range before limiting fuel. That means your aluminum head and turbo gets hotter than one not tuned and deleted. This is where 'longevity' comes into play. The greater your heat cycle swings are, the fewer cycles your gasket will endure. This added allowance of heat in the exhaust will also present as greater power when in fact what the tune has done is move the guardrails closer to the cliff. Be careful!!!

    If your EGR is stuck at 6%, consider yourself lucky and dont do anything. You are legally disabled EGR and your engine will last much longer

      I tend to agree, given you are satisfied with the power you have to accelerate onto interstate and climb steep grades.
