  • What happens when you take robust euro mechanisms, and mash them up with a well-produced fantasy-themed table presence? An Age Contrived.
    Is it ready to stand alongside similar greats such as Vindication or Dwellings of Eldervale? Find out, as we run you through what the game is doing, and whether if might, or might not, be for you.

    This is good info, I saw this game at pax, but I wasn't confident enough to back it when it went live. Leaning towards getting it now

    I've been looking for the right words to describe my life philosophy for decades, and now the search is finally over - "plan ahead to be flexible." 😌

    Hi Ryan, Hi David, thank You for this great overview and review. :-) I cannot feel the Vindication Vibe You talked about but I agree on the Upgraded version. :-) I like the magnetic buildings a lot but the overwhelming mechanics in this game let me think that there are too many mechanics all at once. I like Vindication or Andromeda's Edge, but I have to say that An Age Contrived will not be in my collection. Thanks again for all You do. Already looking forward to Your next video. All the best from Germany.

      To be clear, I only felt a relation to things like Vindication and Dwellings due to the mix of mechanisms and theme and production. Gameplay is quite different.

    How much interaction there is and what kind?

    • @meeple
      @meeple  Год назад

      The interaction is pretty limited, and comes mostly in the form of opportunistic interaction. The spots for contributing to monuments are often jumped on by other players, forcing you to adjust your plans. The achievements behave similarly, as first come, first serve opportunities.
      Other than that, there’s not much other interaction, or “take that”.

      @@meeple Cooper Island ;) Have you played it? But we also like some lighter games. The Colonists, Through the Ages, Uwe Farming, Gloomhaven, Tainted Grail, Etherfields, etc… lol

    How is it as a 2 player game?

    • @meeple

      Played just fine actually. Like many games like this, it would be better at 3 or 4, but it was still a good experience.

    The metal board mechanic is both unnecessary AND INEFFICIENT. You forgot about that second part. You have to take two actions - one to shoot out the energy and then another to pick it up and place it. With the cardboard, it's much smoother - pick and place. That said, you're right - way cool, and I am all in on the project to get the metal boards. :)

      Ha! If you know me (and my scores in games), you know that efficiency is not something I consider at the table. 🤣
