Glad there are others out there who enjoy fixing these things up as well. I got hooked about 6 months ago with youtube learning how to refurbish and clean them up, upgrade the hard drive and so on..

@@retro_vg_repairs3339 For me it's bringing back something that was probably going to a landfill somewhere to life. Although the latest original Xbox I've picked up is probably beyond repair. Probably the worst cap leak I've seen.

@@grizzlyaddams3606 Yeah I'll put it away somewhere. I was going to mod the case on my other Xbox, but I think I'll keep it at stock.

I actually liked the "duke" controller for the Xbox and it's my preferred controller when playing the Xbox. I never realized that a lot of people did not like it until a month ago. The only thing with my "duke" controller now is that I need a new left and right joystick as my are worn. I have a model "S" controller as well but prefer the Duke.

yeah the sticks wearing out is unfortunate. I have no idea where you could get replacements. Nobody sells em as far as I know.

Do you know how to recognize each format of games? Like, if it is a CD ROM or DVD ROM?

PS2 games are like that some dvd and some cd rom

I've owned one since they first released Day 1, prefer the 'Duke' Controller.
Now in my late 50's I still play it every now and then mainly for Elder Scrolls Morrowind.
I now have every Xbox they made except the series 'S' as I've just managed to get an Xbox series X but I'm not a Fanboy as I have all the Playstations up to PS4 as well.
Both systems have their +ve & -ve points.
Retro gaming is really taking off now and prices for consoles and games are rising. :-)

All i know is the hitachi dvd drive is rare, samsung dvd drive has the best laser although it has ejecting problems, Phillips brand is 2nd best with no problems, Thomson dvd drive is unreliable 100% and must be avoided at all costs. Those are primarily built from 2001 to about mid to late 2003
Edit: dvds on xbox don't run in 480p, ps2 fat model scph 50001 and onwards support 480p dvd playback
