Meraviglioso, stupendo Jonas!!! Mi emoziona molto ascoltarlo in questo splendido brano. " ANDREA CHENIER " Opera bellissima, adatta alla voce di Kaufmann!
You're welcome ! I think this concert might have been one of the very best that Jonas ever did ! I also hope to soo find on the web his new Manon lescaut... : ) Keep enjoying his voice, Listen to JK
Planning on going to NY this spring to see him in Carmen. So far, have not been able to find out if he is doing any appearances, panels, etc. Do you have any info on this? The Met has not been very helpful and I'm a member!
Yes, I would like to know something about the song. Sorry, I don´t know much about Classics, but I´m much interested in the Music of Jonas Kaufmann. What is this song about? Is this Verdi? Is it a part of Othello?
No, this is nothing like Verdi (Verdi would sound more "quiet" in a way, more classical...). This is actually part of the Verismo musical movement (making emotions a true as possible for the audience). This is an extract from Andréa Chénier, an opera composed by Umberto Giordano... This aria, called the "Improvviso" or "Colpito qui m'avete", is the most famous scene of the opera : the French poet Andréa Chénier, living right before the French revolution, is invited in a noble French family. Maddelena, a young girl, asks Chénier to recite a poem or just a few words, but he refuses, saying that "Fantasy is not commanded on cue." Maddelena says mockingly that the Muse of poetry is absent from the night. Chénier then becomes angry and improvises a poem about the suffering of the poor, ending with a tirade against those in power in church and state, shocking the guests. This is what we hear there. I hope this little explanation helps ! Have a nice day, Listen to JK
