12 years after Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Sanam Saeed Mirza and Fawad Khan are returning to the screen with Barzakh, a nuanced tale about a dysfunctional family sprinkled with elements of magical realism. In an exclusive conversation with CNN-News18's Titas Chowdhury, Sanam talks about making the series, how it may be perceived as weird and confusing by some and the evolution in her professional and personal relationship with Fawad. Sanam Saeed is a national treasure. She has not only proven her range in dramas, but also in short films, feature films and live theatre. Her theatrical performances have inspired many people, from her terrific turn in Dhaani to her magnetic charm in Heer Ranjha and poised allure in The 39 Steps.
Her social work on mental health of men and women in Pakistan has also opened up debates around tackling mental health by removing taboos attached to this in entirety.
We are blessed to have Sanam as an actor in our country. I am hopeful that she will prove her mettle internationally too and qualify for International Emmys through her performances in Barzakh, Shandur and Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo.
