I'm so glad I had the privilege to have worked with her at the SARS 1:99 Concert. She was such a nice person and an inspiration! I was so sad when she passed and helped by working at her funeral handing information updates to all the reporters. My one last job to say goodbye to her. 😥
She is well loved because she valued people. Be it fans, family or friends. Basically the kind of people you want to have around to cover your back in life when you needed them to. Such people are too few and hard to come by in life no matter what era we are in.
She embodied the spirit of Hong Kong. H.K. rised from a humble beginnings and achieved economic prosperity and became the “pearl of the East”. Anita liked H.K. had never lost the hard working ethics, generosity and empathy towards others. She is the daughter of Hong Kong. We will always be grateful to her contributions to H.K. 😢
Oh I loved her in Ghana. Back then as a teen we didn't know cantopop all we knew abt Chinese people was tbe martial arts movies, we sadly stereotyped all Chinese people as one. Her movies with Jackie Chan were sooo popular in Ghana. When internet was common I googled and was so sad she had passed. May she rest well. 🇬🇭
Anita Mui is always a super star, a legend like nobody can replace her charm ever ever ever in Hong Kong !!! When I was in Hong Kong, I did meet her once to get her autography & shake her hand..
She is an absolute legend and icon, can't believe next Saturday (30th) will mark 20 years since she left us. My favourite song of hers will always be 夕陽之歌 💯
I am surprise. I saw her memorial place in Hong Kong Up The mountain (Giant Buddha) when I was in Hong Kong. The lot she bought was VIP, entire space also whole family lots. She is an iconic queen female artist on her era 80's. Her songs were timeless. Her voice is special. And she is also a great actress. Her movies are awesome. Maybe this memorial outside space is for public paying tributes, not the one memorial space on the HK mountain of the Giant Buddha was her private memorial space.
I lived in Hong Kong during the 80's and I remember my dad telling me when he came home one day that he had run into Anita Mui on the street. When he got excited, she very nicely and sweetly told him shush so as not to attract attention. I was not a fan of Canto-pop so had no idea who she was. Also, Leslie Cheung jogged passed me and my friend on a hill one sunny day. Once again I had no idea who he was but my friend did and so did a bunch of excited girls behind us, lol. This is my first time hearing about his suicide, may they both rest in peace.

I know her mostly from her 20-year film career and her wide range of performances in all different genres of films, something touched on only lightly in this piece, but I was glad to learn more about her superstar pop music career from this. I particularly appreciated the reference to Momoe Yamaguchi, another favorite of mine.
not only as singers, but just feel these artist all very educated and well spoken. the way they speak so clearly when singing, just nothing compared to todays
