    Sublime performance by Heiden. His 5km was even more impressive, 6.59 with a 11 sec gap between him and the runner-up Mike Woods - and this was home ground for the fire S-ene who had to concede that pesky youngster from Wisconsin was miles ahead in a league of his own. Thank you very much gunstein1 for uploading this footage. A slide down memory lane. Heya Norge!

      The commentator says: "The European Champion of the year heralding the World Champion". Heiden would win as long as he finished the 10K.

      @@Osa49 Thanks!!! I got to meet Dr.Eric at a bike race in June of 1980.This was near San Diego.I used to live in Caif ( 16 long years ) and left there in 1994.He was so nice and I was so nervous! I had my pix taken with him.Many years later I got to meet Dan Jansen and got a pix taken with him too.My old Norwegian friend lives in the village of Gan,near Fetsund.I saw her 6 years ago and want to visit her one more time.
