Becca, I have gathered so many things from you. Each video is really great and very informative. Now, inspired from your channel, I have created my own channel and getting success. I am really grateful to you. Keep up the good work like always.
I know this was posted 9 months ago, but this definitely help me find the right paper. And I did look like a crazy person checking which is the smoothest. My husband don’t understand how important it is to keep my brush pen from fraying 🤣🤣
This is not the answer I was looking for but I stayed regardless for the whole video. I use brush pens for their original purpose, eastern calligraphy, specifically for kanji practice. I could never feel confident enough to actually gift or sell my skills but I do it as both a hobby on its own, and to help me with learning japanese. I started this journey recently and have been using the art pens and brush pens from pentel, the disposable felt tips from tombow (fudenosuke), both bristle and felt tips from kuretake (fudegokochi and mannen mouhitsu) to several degrees of success. In general the art pens being the largest brush feels just nice but takes a lot of space, the barrel seems to last a long time regardless, for the small size bristles brushes, the pentel lasts a lot more than the kuretake, but the shape/size of the kuretake feels a bit more traditional-ly. The felt tip ones are mostly for sharp modern looking strokes, which have their appeal but it’s not really what i’m going for. AND AS FOR PAPER, I’ve only been using a Midori MD notebook which looks and feels good, but kinda sucks a lot of ink. For how thin it is there’s absolutely no bleedthrough which is good for practicing as I use both sides of the paper, but there’s plenty ghosting and warping. The warping is a feature, not a bug, you’d expect the paper to warp from real sumi ink on washi paper so it’s no problem. It has no feather whatsoever which is also good, and doesn’t suffer much from finger oil affecting your ink, as you’d see from other smoother papers.
Appreciate the support, Becca! Tried the Rhodia paper strathmore tracing paper and HP premium laser jet the tips make plenty of sense! Sometimes sketching and faux calligraphy helps!!
Well I haven't tried the recommended monosand eraser yet, but the comments make sense. Thank you Becca, for covering a great topic once again in your usual style. Wish I could write like you!
Thanks for this video... I like watercolor painting and just getting into calligraphy and was wondering which paper to use to combine these two techniques.
Unable to find Canson Marker paper I purchased Canson XL Pen & Ink paper. The description is ultra smooth, bright white ... 80 lb. Is this good? Is the heavier weighted paper better? All your videos and information is super, Becca. Thank you.
I use all my brush pens on my Archer and Olive Journal and don’t see any ghosting on the pages. The paper is super thick! Lechutun has good quality paper and I also like scribbles that matter journals!
I'd like to see your reaction when you first try Tomoe River paper, or Cosmo Air Light, or other great brands of high quality paper. Rhodia is great, don't get me wrong, but not necessarily the absolute smoothest.
I have a reusable dry-erase plastic pocket that I got at the dollar store. I was wondering if instead of using tracing paper over practice sheets if I could put the practice sheets in this and use my brush pens to practice on it. I guess mostly I'm wondering if it would cause them to fray.
I love th way you explain every single thing and in detail thank you so much and I wish to see your pens collection and a tour for whole of the place you work hope you dont mind ❤😊
I see a lot of recommendations for the HP premium 32 paper for printing the courses on. I print a lot and have used paper that I thought was good but would like to know how is this paper different? Is it thick and smooth? Is it thinner and smooth? I actually prefer a thicker paper but if thinner is better than I'd like a good quality.
Thanks for the tips Becca! I have a question here, have you come across any situation where the tip of a new brush pen turned out overly soft and mushy? I bought a small pack of Sakura Koi brush pens online recently - Unfortunately two of the pen nibs appear "swollen". Do you have any recommendation on how I can fix that? Thanks!
not becca, but i've used the mono sand eraser a lot, and yes, it does. it "erases" ink but essentially sanding away the fibers of the paper where the ink is. depending on the pen you've used, and the absorbency of the paper, this could be easy to impossible. but you definitely want to be SUPER careful as you can tear up your paper very fast.
What BLACK paper would you recommend? The heaviest I've found is Astrobright at 24 pounds, but I'm not sure if it's smooth like the white HP Premium 32.
Becca can you or anyone please advise me on the best smooth paper I am in the UK but it's impossible for me to go out & feel the smooth paper. I am disabled and use a wheelchair but the biggest issue is I have complex health problems spending a lot of time in Hospital.
Can anyone recommend black paper pads (inexpensive etc) suitable for inks that have been tested and works with noodlers inks, india inks, maybe even watercolor ?
Hi I'm from the UK and want to find a HP 32 alternative , I dont want to really spend alot of money for notebooks with only little sheets , just loose (smooth) printer paper but I haven't found any yet . If anyone knows any smooth printer paper please do reply

Hey Becca love and respect from Pakistan.... Please guide me where can I found vedio that help me to improve my hand writing specially cursive.... Waiting for response
Every time I think of buying a notepad, I think of Rhodia, check and compare prices, then buy a cheaper notepad. For what I do, it doesn’t really matter. So, why spend extra?
Hey Becca. I found your channel last year. Following your videos helped me fight depression.
Lots of love, I hope you're creating things from her tutorials 😊🥰
Was so happy to hear you’re canadian! A lot of times when I’m looking for brand recommendations I can never find ones they have here
I have two Rhodias... The dotted and blank one. I haven't touched the blank one coz it's more expensive and I don't wanna waste it when practicing.
Thank you! Your supplies guide is such a great resource!!
Hey Becca! This was super helpful!! I’m so glad I watched this vedio. Many many thanks to you💕

Hi Becca! I know you love the Tombow Fudenosuke pen (me too!), but I wanted to ask, which do you like more: the soft or hard tip pen?
Well I haven't tried the recommended monosand eraser yet, but the comments make sense. Thank you Becca, for covering a great topic once again in your usual style. Wish I could write like you!
Thanks for this video... I like watercolor painting and just getting into calligraphy and was wondering which paper to use to combine these two techniques.
Thank you so much!!! Love the eraser tip!!!
Thank you for the advice that you gave in beginning
The Tombow mono sand eraser will wear down your paper if you use to much pressure. Thank you for this video. I love Rhodia paper.
Charlotte Ragan yes it will- that’s how it erases! You just have to use it sparingly
Thanks for sharing the info...love the videos!
was looking for the links to your paper suggestions. New follower!~
Awesome! Thank you for following! You can find my list of favourite supplies at: thehappyevercrafter.com/supplies

It's really good quality paper that is really smooth.
it is very smooth and thick. It is hard to see through it for guidelines though.
Where do you buy your rhodia pads from in Canada?

great, thank you
Ma'am please make one video of capital letters
Hi Becca, It's always good to have a refresher on the paper to use. Does that eraser wear the smoothness of the paper down, as it looks really rough?
not becca, but i've used the mono sand eraser a lot, and yes, it does. it "erases" ink but essentially sanding away the fibers of the paper where the ink is. depending on the pen you've used, and the absorbency of the paper, this could be easy to impossible. but you definitely want to be SUPER careful as you can tear up your paper very fast.

Thank you so much 😍 I was confused and much paper where not available in India...❤️🤩
Hi becca..
I loves your all videos 😍
Is mixed media paper ok
Is linen paper is good for calligraphy
Thank you! What is your take on copy paper for practice? Just asking because it is so readily available for most of us. Thanks! 😊

Can anyone recommend black paper pads (inexpensive etc) suitable for inks that have been tested and works with noodlers inks, india inks, maybe even watercolor ?

When you said you need a smooth paper, the first thing I thought of was smooth plate bristol.

Why we don't use normal papers
Every time I think of buying a notepad, I think of Rhodia, check and compare prices, then buy a cheaper notepad. For what I do, it doesn’t really matter. So, why spend extra?
Your favourite white pen is on sale where I live.
I am the second one to comment
I'm the fourth one to comment!
Becca you are so cute
Lovely eyes.
Hi Becca, was wondering what you'd recommend for black paper for brushpens? Thanks!
