For those having Issues understanding the knee part, this is what I did. If your hip is 36, minus 2 from It that Is 34. The knee circumference will be 34. Now 34 divided by 2 is 17. Now remove the bust span which is 6" from the video, you have 11 left 11" divided by 2 is 5.5 plus 2 is 7.5 which is what you will mark for the knee. Thank you Nancy tv for this tutorial. I love the curvy effect it gave my 6 pieces skirt.❤❤

Good job, I have been trying to make dis six pieces for long I could not o but ever since I watched dis ur lovely tutorial every thing became easy and simple for me and I was able to sew it on my own. I really appreciate ur tutorial ma. But I make use of six yards and the remaining fabric was 2 yards out of dat six yards so I feel I have waisted fabric oo ,,, so how do I go about dis????
Your tutorials are always of a great skill with passion, thank you so much. But please I want to understand the middle piece properly, is the six (6) for the middle piece constant and can be used for hips of 42?
Hello Ma’am Thanks for the tutorial❤️ but I’m stuck at the knee point. I’m working with hips 48, 48/4= 12-1.5= 10.5+ 1 = 11.5. Now if I’m placing the 11.5 on the fabric will I divide it into 2 at the knee circumference or I’ll place 11.5 without dividing it. Please I’ll be glad if you answer my question
I will upload a tutorial on how it should be done. Thank you But when using rope just make sure the waist circumference is a bit bigger than your actual waist circumference.
Thank you so much. Please does that the bust pan of the client should be used to the centre. Please make me understand, because you said the persons bust span is 6 which u used for the division. Thanks

Thank you so much ma I love this illustration and I will try it But something I don't understand is is (what is burst span )? & ( How do I get burst span for hip 40 or let me ask that what is the burst span for hip 40)? Thanks ma
The dart can be gotten by measuring the burst span and dividing it into two. the burst span is gotten by placing your measuring tape horizontally on your burst to measuring the distance between the two nipples You can use 8” has the burst span
Please how to get the knee measurement ... you said hip circm ÷4-1.5 +1.... mine is 38÷4=9.5-1.5=8+1=9... my waist is34 bust span 7.. but it isn't giving me the desired shape like yours when I connect the hip to the knee.. please help urgently
Pls ma, i am confused at the Last kneel measurement that you used hip cir divided by 4 minus 1.5+1. When i did my own it did not form well. Waist 32 , hip 40 bust span 8. Sorry ma what went wrong . Thanks
I also had same problem, not until I watched it again where she said"to get ur knee measurement u have to minus 6 from ur hip measurement.. Maybe u should watch again and listen carefully
I cant really tell... but when you get use to the measurement you used for different client six pieces, you will be able to tell ...... but i usually use 2yards and 23”
For the knee measurement of the sides that you said it's hips÷4 _1.5 It doesn't work for me, because my hips is 7 after adding the allowance, so hips÷4 gives _1.5 gives me 7.5 which doesn't tally
Thanks ma for how u explained d cutting of d six pieces skirt but d tail side of d back u did not mentioned d width of d fabric am a bit confused there,
The burst span is also the distance between the 2 nipples ....This is a tutorial on how to take the female body measurement ruclips.net/video/RT6ELDXD-MI/видео.html
You can use this method. The only difference is that your waist circumference on the skirt should be wider than your exact waist measurement so the rope or elastic can fit in properly
Thanks so much for this, you have simplified six pieces skirt.... My question is this.... The half inches you added at the butt area in order for it to balance, is it applicable for a plus size or someone with a bigger butt?
It does mater because the elastic isnt too tight, and it is also inserted just at the sides of the waist. I would have added elastic allowance if i was inserting the elastic band in just the back of the waist or the complete waist circumference itself
Hello Nancy, thanks for the tutorial. I am just trying your method of cutting a six pieces skirt and I got stuck at the point of cutting the two side panels for both front and back. At knee area, you said the hip will be divided into 4 and 1.5inches deducted to get the measurement for the knee. I did exactly that and it's not working at all. The hip I am working with is 49inches, I divided it by 4 and got 12.25 inches, I deducted 1.5 inches from it and got 10.75inches, but it's not working because the measurement I got for the sides on the hips is 8.25inches +2inches allowance =10..25inches. Please check the instructions given and see if there's a mistake somewhere or maybe you correct me where I have gone wrong. Thank you so much as I anticipate your prompt reply
Divided the hip circumference by 4. 49/4= 12.25 To get the knee circumference Subtract 6inches from the hip circumference i.e 49-6= 43 Now divide 43 by 4 =10.75 This means that you will be placing 12.5 for the hip circumference + sewing allowance 2” This means that you will be placing 10.75 for the knee circumference + sewing allowance 2” So its same with yours. After sewing then you will see the final effect
Anyway, what I did was to divide the 43inches by 6 since we're working on 6 pieces skirt, because what I got for my sides after the calculations was 8.25inches. I used 7.25inches for the knee and added seam allowance of 1inch

Divided the hip circumference by 4. 49/4= 12.25
