Power of interpretation comes from the HOLY SPIRIT. Pray that we will read the scriptures with the gifts of the HOLY SPIRIT so that we can unanimously agree on the WORD OF GOD.

Amen. I don't know if you'll read this Dr. Stanley but my name is Chris & I've been watching u since I was 16(since 2005). I'm from Arkansas. And I would add we are more divided today than ever before. As a nation and in our churches. It is disappointing for sure as we look around us. But Jesus did say: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me." I think that is a passage we all can agree on-no matter what denomination you belong to.
Yes indeed this Pastor is chosen from God to oversee the Church so that we will be United in this One Body in Love for the praise and Glory of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, according to the plan of our Heavenly Father.
I thank God for providing us wonderful and appropriate teaching which I am able to relate as well as able to teach my fellow sisters and my children. Let all glory to be God alone. Thank You Lord Jesus for raising fearful and true teachers to interpret the Scriptures. May the Lord God Father of our Lord Jesus Christ bless you and extend your ministry to those who are hunger for their spiritual growth.
”“I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.“ John 17:20-21
there may be many denominations but it pains me to see any one of them forgetting God and feuding with one another on whom is the most correct denomination. we're all worshiping for the same God we need to love one another.
I agree, as long as we all, as believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, agree with the main messages of the scriptures then everyone will have certain personal understanding of certain passages that should be debated.
It is not the stories - the parables and the narrative - that create as many differences of opinion as do the various applications of doctrine & theology. There are many reasons denominations form - some have grown out of a need to steer back to the truth, others develop from a desire to highlight a certain doctrine... what keeps the Church working as one body is our one foundation - Jesus Christ. His life, death, & resurrection mean freedom from sin and life forever.
The Word of The Lord has said, “There is no second opinion of The Word of God in Christ Jesus.” God will not disagree with Himself. The denominations are because of sin. The Lord Jesus has spoken. You must repent. Ask Jesus for forgiveness, ask Him for mercy, He is walking among us. May He redirect your path by His great mercy. Consider God’s prayer to our God, “Father, I thank you that you have hidden these things from the wise and have revealed them to little children.” The knowledge of God is given freely through the forgiveness of sins in Christ Jesus.
Are they SUPPOSED to be so many? Are Jews still supposed to be Jews? Are they to get past the fact they were once persecuted, by ostensibly believing Christians? Or inquisitors? How does a Jew freely make a CHOICE in this context?
Although it truely isn't God's desire Scriptures tells us of satan's intention to separate through false doctrines But God's word nor plan will ever be thrwarted....EVER
The thing is the reason why the Bible is the word of God is that it was written by people that received the word of God. So how can members of a church that are not directed by people that directly receive the word of God be considered part of a church that is going to lead to salvation? After all that was what the apostles were doing right? They were going around correcting the misinterpretations and divisions within the congregations of the original Church. They were able to do this because they were receiving Revelation from God themselves.
There might be many denominations within Christianity but God looks at the heart and wants us to love him and each other, God's not interested in how religious we can be.
The problem began when we don't understand that the sin is of the mans not of the timeless autority of the church. When the pride disturbed the holy spirit action. When we forget that devil works more hard against the leaders of faith and, sometimes, reaches his goals. When we forget that to heal one body we don't need to broken any part. So, the first broke happened, and orthodox catholics borned. The both stabilized themselfs, but later we had Martin Luther, and the idea of that the desagreements have to leads to separation with the church autority was spreed, and the doors of disagree are opened to never more closes? I don't known, but everything is the indecipherable will of God. So, now, more than ever we have to try to forget our diferences and put lights in our similarities (that are huge, and much more powerful that some divergences). God bless us all 🙏
I enjoyed this informative video. I will say that biggest division among churches is between the Catholic and protestant churches. The first reason for that is that they were founded by men that had not recieved the Holy Spirit so that He might enlighten them as to the meaning of the scriptures. The second is the mistranslation of the word " tongues". In the original Koine greek, that the N.T. was first written in, it is clear that " tongues" isn't plural but singular. Given them the misguided perception that not all born again believers should speak in " tongues" as the initial evidence that they have recieved the Holy Spirit indwelling. Not all believers have the Gift of speaking in this " unknown" language which works together with a believer that has the gift of interpretation of " tongues". But all have the Sign that they have recieved the Holy Spirit. This is a different manifestation of the initial evidence of Holy Spirit indwelling that is only understood by God as the Word says in 1Cor.14:2. The Holy Spirit is recieved as a result of the Holy Spirit baptism and is not recieved the moment that one believes that the gospel message is true. When i first attempted to read the N.T. I found it confusing and contradictory but once I recieved the Holy Spirit and picked up my Bible to read afterwards I was amazed. Suddenly it had taken on much more depth and no longer confusing or contradictory. I immediately became aware that the Holy Spirit, that I had recieved, was guiding me in understanding what I wad reading. If I hadn't recieved the Holy Spirit I would have had to have had man tell me what salvation involves and what all scriptures mean. Thus the widespread divisions.
I have a great deal of difficulty with this. I understand what Dr. Stanley is saying, it is logical and makes sense to me, but with the Holy Spirit being here to direct Christians in truth, I cannot get past my questions. It makes me doubt the Holy Spirits work today. :(
Err, the church is very, very often referred to as the body of christ, I have heard this in nearly every church I have ever attended. You even if Charles Stanley is wrong, (he is not) the bible teaches us that we should not argue or fight with our fellow christians.
Since Pastor Stanley teaches from the Bible, I believe what he teaches, is the truth, he is so greaous to us when we hear the word it's how we receive it, Father God is so trustworthy and faith🙏
So, I watched another video with the same title yesterday. It was a propaganda video to convert you to Church of Christ. This video was much better and much more respectful. However, I would argue that there are plenty of pastors/priests across all denominations that are interpreting the scriptures and preaching based on the world they want to live in and not based on what the Bible says. Like every preacher who spouts prosperity gospel.
Great Presentation Dr. Stanley! However, I have a couple of questions. You said that the Church drifted away from the Truth of the Word of God at the (2:12) I do not understand how that could happen. According to Scripture that can not happen. Look at Matthew 16:18 "And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it." Another verse states in Luke 10:16, "He who hears you hears me, and he who rejects you rejects me, and he who rejects me rejects him who sent me." Jesus will never abandon his Church, Matthew 28:20, "teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the close of the age." If there is a dispute on what the truth of the Gospel is you take it to the Church for correction. Matthew 18:16, "If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the Church; and if he refuses to listen even to the Church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. According to Paul, the Church is the pillar and bulwark of truth, 1 Tim. 3:15 not the Bible. At 2:36 you said that true believers would break away because of their conviction about not adding or taking away from the word of God. Didn't Martin Luther take out 7 books from the Old Testament and also attempted to remove Revelation, James, Hebrews, and Jude. So this confuses me. If you ask any Protestant denomination they will say that they are the true believers. However, doesn't the Bible warn against this? 2 Peter 1:20-21, "First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, because no prophecy ever came by the impulse of man, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." So how would you know which men were moved by the Holy Spirit? I would say that if they spoke against the Pillar and Bulwark of Truth (1 Tim. 3:15) I.E. the Church, then they would not be moved by the Holy Spirit but by their own interpretation. If you disagreed with that person's interpretation, you could go and start your own church. St. Paul warns of this in Scared Scripture too in 2 Tim. 4:3-4, "For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own likings, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander into myths." At the 4:00, you quote Galatians 1:6-9. AMEN!! "I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and turning to a different gospel not that there is another gospel, but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angle from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed." So those men who teach differently from the Pillar and Bulwark of Truth, guided by Jesus Christ, and promised that the Gates of Hades shall not prevail against it, I.E. The Church, should be accursed. 4:40+ To make sure that you are not injecting your own interpretation into the Scripture, to make sure you are on the correct path according to the Word of God, then shouldn't we look for the Church that Christ established and built upon Peter and the Apostles? If we do that, then we can not fall into error because God has protected his Church from error. At 5:12, there have always been different interpretations of Sacred Scripture, however when there was a difference in interpretation, how did the early Christians and Christians throughout the centuries solve these disputes? They always went back to the Church, the pillar and bulwark of Truth and led by the Holy Spirit to determine who was right and who was wrong. Shouldn't we do the same? Just a thought. God Bless You in your Faith Journey.
Honestly I got a question for you my friend. If you look at the churches that broke off very early in the history of the faith. Look how similar they are to each other because they preserved the holy tradition even though they're arguing over in my opinion Semantics. You mainly see this with all the different orthodox churches across the world not talking about the different jurisdictions. Talking about the Eastern orthodox church the Coptic church the church of the East etc. All of them preserve the holy tradition and survived occupation and persecution. Then look at protestants particularly even right after the reform and americae you can even look further O 2nd great awakening. It's a theological free for all.
Thank you pastor Stanley for teaching the word of God with clarity and understanding and knowledge and compassion to God be the glory for the things he has done and is doing Amen
do you think that's a coincidence when Jesus spoke to 7 different churches with different problems in the book of revelation? sure it is not the plan of God but he knew it will happen and he made provisions for that.
But these churches were divided based on geography and not beliefs. Yes they faced challenges individually doctrinally of course but He instructed them to correct those mistakes and not just carry on.
I also thought that there were different denominations based on the different church styles of service and worship music. Also, whether to have a board of directors or not. Grey things like that instead of interpretations of Scripture. But now that Dr. Charles Stanley mentions the latter, it involves that too unfortunately..
dr. Stanley why there's so many churches I'm so confused I'm not supposed to be confused I love Jesus I want to go with Jesus tell me the truth where is Jesus
God Jesus is in our hearts, through the Holy Spirit (He/Christ dwells within us)! Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (God)! If you are born again by God, your body became temple of Jesus, His Father and their Spirit (the Holy Trinity)! Ask the Father for wisdom in Jesus Name! God bless you sister!
I would look at the early Church and see which Church the early (Christians, taught by the Apostles and their followers) belonged to. How did they worship? What did they believe? Works such as the Didache, late first century, the Letters of St. Ignatius of Antioch, early 2nd century Justin Martyr, 2nd century, letters from Clement of Rome, 2nd-3rd century, etc. These written works will help you. If you are truly looking for the Church that Christ founded, look to the Bible and early Christian history. God Bless You on Your Journey.
Dr. Stanley seems to be saying Christians are obligated to attend worship services even if the only groups we have found are teaching things we consider to be in opposition to the way we understand the Bible. With all due respect to someone with a PhD, my advice is, "Keep looking." Dr Stanley seems to be saying the reasons for the various denominations is that they all understand the Bible differently. Please allow me to offer an alternative explanation. Admittedly, there are some denominations that exist because of various traditions that developed in various parts of the world. When people with those traditions move to another part of the world, they may wish to fellowship with Christians with similar traditions. Some even insist on worshiping in their mother tongue after moving to another part of the world. But... The Lord has called some Christians to emphasize one or more aspects of the truth about himself and he has called other Christians to emphasize one or more other aspects of truth. It would be surprising indeed if a person who has been called to a particular emphasis would not try to find Christians who have a calling similar to his own. I sometimes use the illustration of the Calvinists and the Arminians. The Lord called John Calvin to emphasize his sovereignty. He called Jacobus Arminius to emphasize free moral agency. Calvinists and Arminians have been arguing for centuries. They are both right! The problem is (primarily) that many people don't see how both those things can be true at the same time. OK, well, some Christians think Calvin took the doctrine of God's sovereignty a step too far but it is still true that God is sovereign so, if the Lord has called you to emphasize his sovereignty and you don't see how that can be comparable with free moral agency, maybe you will be comfortable with some of the other parts of John Calvin's teaching. I suggest, instead of arguing about whether both can be true, we should try to comprehend how both can be true. We should try to learn from each other. We can have unity without uniformity. All that is required is that we acknowledge that not every Christian has been called to the same emphasis. Just between you and me, there are three things I think are antithetical to unity: Hierarchy and creedalism - both of which tend to foster the third thing - dogmatism. You can save yourself a lot of grief if you look for Christian groups that display as little as possible of those three things.
Dogma- just means a teaching of true belief laid down by and Authority. Jesus the only begotten of the Father and second person in the trinity Taught Dogmas per se because his is the chief cornerstone our High priest. The apostles and and church elders in Jerusalem in a council made a decision on a controversy in the church (Acts 15) from authority and spread the word to the other churches as to what they were suppose to believe and do. This is what a dogma is. I know the term dogma is pre-loaded into a Protestants mind to see Rome, but when we get to the meaning of a word. And see how that word can be implicitly drawn out of the scriptures it by showing that an authority on earth given to them by Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit which was sent by the father. How do you answer that? Secondly I will say that I disagree with you saying we should avoid things with a hierarchy. If you understand not just the material universe but even the immaterial Narrative metaphysical world using of our Conscience, Logic, Reasoning, all of these things throughout human history in every sector of our lives and beings is built in forms of hierarchical structures. To deny this is to literally deny God. God created the universe with a purpose with hierarchical structures to function. Logic and reason function this way and display itself in the way humans use this to bring order and function to raw materials and raw concepts. To break down structures of authorities in a hierarchical structure is to break out into chaos. Granted we are mere fallible mean that have proclivity to corruption and sin due to the Fall. Not even the most progressive of theologians or churches can claim to make no dogmatic statements. The only way one can be absent of a hierarchical structure is to say no one is wrong and everyone can come to their own understanding as to how to find God . This is what this frame of though eventually leads too. We are already witnessing it in Society on every level today not just in Christianity but also in secular things like biological science, and politics this belief that without the govt everything would be great. To be honest with you I’m still searching myself . But one thing I’m not searching for is something that ultimately devolves into the mindset of everyone being right which is illogical. I’m not claiming I know, just sharing my thought. God bless
Nice teaching Sir, can you please speak more and only on Ephesians 4:11 Are there any apostle today, if so what is their job ,in total how many apostles are in the Bible , and if they are more then 12 where they stand in Revelation 21:14. Second thing: since Bible got completed does church require any prophet today , thanks
If this division isn't in the will of God, one has to ask themselves..... How can the protestant system be in the will of God if this is where it leads?
God gave man free will...and each "religion" has man-made laws which are man's will. However, Dr. Stanley, and other "teachers", of God's Word and that of Jesus and the apostles, are doing God's will. The pastors and preachers who twist God's Word to their own benefit...will sadly be judged more harshly before God... because they are held to a higher standard for the "true" meaning of His Word.
The Lord works on an if-it-isn't-broke-don't-fix-it basis. Why? Because (provided that the basics are being done) a person's faith needs to be preserved and presenting a significantly different doctrine to someone could endanger their faith. And so they are left to their differing beliefs to be corrected on the other side. John 10:16. Faith is a vital possession.
Romans 14:1-3 1Now accept the one who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his opinions.2One person has faith that he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats vegetables only.3The one who eats is not to regard with contempt the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat is not to judge the one who eats, for God has accepted him. It's ok to disagree on somethings, but somethings are non-debatable Biblical doctrine, i.e. Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior.
“But you, my dear friends, must remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ predicted. They told you that in the last times there would be scoffers whose purpose in life is to satisfy their ungodly desires. These people are the ones who are creating divisions among you. They follow their natural instincts because they do not have God’s Spirit in them. But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love. And you must show mercy to those whose faith is wavering. Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives. Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault. All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen.” Jude 1:17-25 🙏🤓
I believe that all of us will have varying interpretations and that those interpretations aren’t that important, what matters is that we are children of God!
but if god is one and jesus is one and the spirit is one shouldn't we be one mind? we, as a body SHOULD have one "like" mind, if the one spirit of god we obtain. I'm one person and i have a friend we both get baptized and obtain the one spirit that gives us direction shouldn't we get the same answer?
God knows the heart, and minor theological differences don't matter. Salvation through Jesus and a contrite heart before the Lord that leads to repentance, is the basic thought. Look to the thief on the cross.. the tax collector vs the Pharisee in Luke 18 and others whom Jesus preached, to "go and sin no more," after coming to the rescue of the Savior. Amen.😊
All Christians claim to have the same Holy Spirit that comes into them when they believe. If so this Holy Spirit which is the Spirit of Truth would show them truths, so how come they still disagree with the truth? Can the Holy Spirit contradicts himself? I think not, so my conclusion is there is not many true believers who have the Holy Spirit, thus satisfying Many are called few are chosen statement from Jesus himself. John 16:13King James Version (KJV)13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. Unity must be imparted by the Holy Spirit and not by men coercion. It will not work when there is conflict in the hearts of men. They can be sincerely wrong using their carnal understanding. 1 Corinthians 2:14-15King James Version (KJV)14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
Jesus is God, because He is the Word of God, of the Father. Jesus is divine, and He is the Supreme Ruler, He is the One who comes from the Father. Amen.
All of you church leader at every level must begin to repent. Yes, every denomination, every church, every pastor, everyone. From genuine life changing repentance comes the seeking the face of the Lord. From life altering repentance comes the asking of the Holy Spirit to purify your entire being and then dwelling within always. This is when a very real revival can begin. But, first the old dead you must die and become like ash blown by the Holy Winds of God. This must begin in every denomination, every church, every pastor, every theologian, everyone.
You are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. Mt. 16:18. Jesus was the first Priest when He instituted The Holy Eucharist. For 2000 years Christians were doing what Jesus commanded us TO DO, Once they gave us the Bible everyone interprets it according what suits their convenience, just to deny ,and reject His real presence and divide His Holy Church. Read the history of the church.
Dr. Stanley.....Paul declares to the Corinthians and Ephesians that Jesus' church was and is built upon a FOUNDATION of Apostles & Prophets...thru revelation they receive God's word and share with the saints (Paul called them). I testify that Joseph Smith was called to be the prophet of the Restoration as foretold in the Bible (Act 3:19). He translated a powerful 2nd witness of Jesus Christ...the Book of Mormon. Apostles and prophets are found in Christ's true church. Thank you for all you do!
There are so many denominations because the stories in the bible are so vague and doubtful that it would be impossible for every Christian to agree upon a single interpretation.
nothing about the Bible is vague at all....it is a matter of actually reading it and knowing the definition of words you don't understand which a dictionary or google can tell you the meaning of any word you don't know. I am not saying you have not actually read your Bible but I will say most people I have heard in my lifetime make a statement of the Bible being Vague or that they can''t understand it have never actually read Gods Word and have only listened to what others told them or tried to tell them.
I've watched this man ever since I was a pre teen. He's approuch is not condemning but heartfelt honest. 👍✝ God bless you Sir

I really like it when he said. Be sure to read the word of God, and interpret it as it is. Don't reinterpret it that fits your wants.
if you fall from grace, or suspect you are doing so or have done so, or backslidden at all, call to God for help and ask Jesus for forgiveness.
Ephesians 4:11-12 (NLT): Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

I enjoyed this informative video. I will say that biggest division among churches is between the Catholic and protestant churches.
The first reason for that is that they were founded by men that had not recieved the Holy Spirit so that He might enlighten them as to the meaning of the scriptures.

If I hadn't recieved the Holy Spirit I would have had to have had man tell me what salvation involves and what all scriptures mean. Thus the widespread divisions.
Also, we have history from the protestant reformation of 1517 to help with a lot of the different denominations
Aaron Kennedy he's. but why do christians hate catholic christians so much.. he says respect what others believe..
4:3-4, "For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own likings, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander into myths."
At the 4:00, you quote Galatians 1:6-9.
Are you a Catholic? Me too!!
I still have questions about this subject honestly.
You can definitely ask our theological team at social@intouch.org -Esther
Yes
❤❤❤❤
God bless
so good
Nice teaching Sir, can you please speak more and only on Ephesians 4:11
Are there any apostle today, if so what is their job ,in total how many apostles are in the Bible , and if they are more then 12 where they stand in Revelation 21:14.
Amen
So what about 1st Cor. 3:4? “For when one says “I follow Paul” and another says “I follow Appolos”, are you not merey being human?”
Amen.”
Jude 1:17-25 🙏🤓
I believe that all of us will have varying interpretations and that those interpretations aren’t that important, what matters is that we are children of God!
Jesus paid it all.
but if god is one and jesus is one and the spirit is one shouldn't we be one mind? we, as a body SHOULD have one "like" mind, if the one spirit of god we obtain. I'm one person and i have a friend we both get baptized and obtain the one spirit that gives us direction shouldn't we get the same answer?
But there are interpretations that have caused use denominations
God knows the heart, and minor theological differences don't matter. Salvation through Jesus and a contrite heart before the Lord that leads to repentance, is the basic thought. Look to the thief on the cross.. the tax collector vs the Pharisee in Luke 18 and others whom Jesus preached, to "go and sin no more," after coming to the rescue of the Savior. Amen.😊
What domination did you Stand?
So we have to go for Sunday mass... is it a will of God?
👌
We are one Body of Christ. Gospel is Who is Jesus and What he has done for us..
ROMANS 8:28
So which one to believe?...jesus was god or not god?
Jesus is God, because He is the Word of God, of the Father. Jesus is divine, and He is the Supreme Ruler, He is the One who comes from the Father. Amen.
@@NicoFTWandMichael Preach brother! God Jesus bless you!
Jesus is God manifested in the flesh.
I am not saying you have not actually read your Bible but I will say most people I have heard in my lifetime make a statement of the Bible being Vague or that they can''t understand it have never actually read Gods Word and have only listened to what others told them or tried to tell them.
name one thing that's vague
Amen
Amen.
