I won't go into what you missed but only to say that it would have been nice to have seen Jimmy at the 2 day memorial concert organized by Eric Clapton. Saw Jeff Beck/Rod Stewart group in 1968 at the old Shrine auditorium in Los Angeles, when the album Truth came out. Rod Stewart was 23 years old, so was i. Blew my mind!!😮🔥🎸🎸
I was introduced to his music in the 1980s after i discovered Led Zeppelin at the age of 15 in the 1983 and being a Jimmy page fan and its how i became a Yardbirds fan as well, My biggest regret is i never got to see him live in concert and i wish i did. May he Rest in Peace 🕊️ .
Saw Jimmy in 1988 and Jason Bonham was the drummer. Jimmy used his bow! Saw Page/Plant in '95 and again in '98. At the '95 concert, as soon as Robert Plant came on stage, the entire audience stood up, remaining for the entire concert. They played Kashmir, which was unbelievable!
Jimmy didn't phone John Paul Jones up to ask him to join the band; it was the other way around; his wife had learned that Jimmy was about to form a new band. Since JPJ was tired of session work, his wife told him to get in contact with Jimmy ... which he did.
Blow by Blow was an eye opener for me, as a lover of rock and blues. His playing was lyrical and melodic. I adore his music and won't soon forget he or his music.
2 of the greatest guitarists in history are friends.....no coincidence they played off each other and became pioneers of influential music that still holds precedence to this day.

Definitely. An album with the two of them together whether as an instrumental or with a vocalist would’ve been amazing. I could totally imagine them doing songs with two guitars playing simultaneously. Almost like a Hotel California type of thing. Sadly, we never got it.

"Beck's Bolero", recorded on the 16th of May into the 17th of May of 1966(+/- Midnight Recording) Originally a rhythm riff by Page based on the classical "Ravel's Bolero", Page brought it to Beck who figured out the lead parts. They were both still in the Yardbirds but were also thinking outside the box as to putting together a supergroup. Besides the two of them they approached Keith Moon and John Entwistle who weren't happy with their band mates in The Who(Basically Townsend) When it came time to record "Beck's Bolero", Entwistle was a no show and was replaced by John Paul Jones who was already in the same studio elsewhere with Nickey Hopkins. So along with Moon, JPJ and Hopkins on piano, Beck & Page recorded this song with Page producing it(although Epic Records house producer Micky Most gets the credit) When the idea of a supergroup was being discussed, Entwistle mused the idea of a Beck, Page, Moon and Entwistle lineup would go down like a 'Lead Balloon'. Later on after the recording of the song, it was Keith Moon who said the lineup of Beck, Page, Moon, JPJ and Nicky Hopkins would go down like a 'Lead Zeppelin' a take on what Entwistle original said about a band name. Two years later after the Scandinavian tour of the New Yardbirds and recording of the first Led Zeppelin album on October 1st & 2nd 1968, Page remembered what Keith Moon had said two years earlier. When Peter Grant heard what Page wanted to name the band he changed the spelling of 'Lead' to 'Led' so not to confused the pronunciation of that word from the U.K. to the U.S. audience. The rest was history as to Led Zeppelin, back to "Beck's Bolero". Beck & Page co - wrote the song but only Page got credit on the 'Truth' album and the original 45 record of "Hi Ho Silver Lining" the 'A' side which Beck sang vocals and the 'B' side which was "Beck's Bolero". Eventually down the road on repressing on vinyl and tape and finally CDs full credit was given in "Beck's Bolero" to Jeff Beck & Jimmy Page. Note: after Page switched from bass to guitar, Beck and Page along with Chris Deja, Keith Relf and Jim McCarty the other members in the Yardbirds, they wrote and recorded what is widely considered the first psychedelic song, "Happenings Ten Years Time Ago" recorded in October 1966, with the 'B' side of the 45 in the U.K. being "Psycho Daisies" and on the U.S. 45 the 'B' side was "The Nazz Are Blue". By doing everything themselves paying the studio time, Page producing and Grant the business end, when they went to Atlantic Records they had leverage. They changed the way bands recorded and dealt with record companies and promoters, although Led Zep had Grant who got the band 80% of the box office or they won't play at that venue for that promoter. Promoters wised up and excepted that 20% was better than 0%, people wanted to see Led Zep 'live' and all regional promoters excepted this as business as usual. I saw Led Zep a few dozen times between '69 through '77 all in the Northeast, mostly in southern New England, Boston, Springfield in MA, Wallingford and New Haven in CT and Providence and Newport in R.I. Led Zeppelin 'Live' was a mystical experience, an hour/hour and a half inn '69, to two hours in '70, after that minimum 2 1/2hrs morphed into 3hrs. to 3 1/2hrs. And then there were a few 4hrs plus shows, I never saw any of them, but 3 1/2hr. shows, Oh Yeah! MSG in NYC, the Boston Garden and the Boston Tea Party, those were Great shows. But whether you saw Led Zep or not, it's always been about the music and we have the music from studio to 'live' concerts. That’s was a great time to be at the beginning, of the new development of rock guitar Hedrick , Clapton etc . These guys were the ones who carried on what the old blues guys and rock n roll , Chuck Berry Buddy Holy Cliff Gallop , plus Page was lucky to have the opportunity to do sessions ,and play on all those ground breaking artists . They were the forefathers of EVH SRV etc ,
He was lucky, but also so damn talented & dedicated. Page knowing exactly what he wanted to achieve & succeeded in the Atlantic Records contract, was absolutely brilliant.

I was a 10 year old huge rock fan when i hear Zep for the first time, it was so powerful and different, there was a lot of bubble gum pop, with some great songs, but their songs blew me away, they still do. Da na' Na na',, Da, Da Da da !

Page and Beck, both being blues guitarists, have always made soloing an art. Jeff Beck, the lesser-known but still incredibly talented axeman who took over the lead guitar post after Eric Clapton's departure from The Yardbirds never really got his due for being such a great player. Page's ability to play the guitar is well-documented.
Those musicians are still in their time, Bud. Millions of music lovers will agree with me. Death is just a curtain. They are Immortals. Like Segovia or Holdsworth or McLachlan. Music is forever.

"Truth" is many a musicians' top 5 of all time, Jimmy and John P. Jones included, it surely is one of mine. It bypasses my ADD being one of the few albums I can listen to beginning to end uninterrupted ... It's blues, but hailing from the rings of Saturn . Those ghostly wailing effects he pulls with the slide (Shapes of things, Let me love you, Ol' Man River, Bolero) re purposed the slide away from the Mississippi delta into the realms of Sonic Youth (at a much later date) , love of sound for sound's sake
Note, detail about Jeff Back's acidic comment on Hall of Fame ceremony, about expulsion from group. Page is not smiling stupidly, but smiling as thrilled. 100% that he knew what Jeff Back have in mind, must be that they shared that Back's idea, and when he did it for real he was enthusiastic because he was his friend, and - they are not. Fact is that few average musicians and poor authors who spent in their band three of several best UK guitarist ever, thinking that they are stars and chiefs of band.

It could be a number of reasons. 1. Page could have had something else going on that prevented him from being there. 2. It’s quite possible he was too upset to show up, if he did people would have asked him to play guitar. Given everything that happened, he probably was too upset to play guitar. But again him not being there is kind of up in the air. He was at his funeral and gave a eulogy which was mentioned in the video, so was Robert Plant. But I believe it had to do with the fact that he was too emotional to go and it was still too soon for him to go and play live.
I found this video history of Jeff and Jimmy’s friendship to be elementary at best. If you are a fan of either guitarist the information here is common knowledge. There are also several areas of misinformation; I am not going to point them out because I have already wasted 21 minutes and 8 seconds watching the video. I only saw Led Zeppelin once in concert with a little known band called Judas Priest as their opening artist. I saw Jeff Beck 11 times in concert over the period of 5 1/2 decades (that includes once at the Nippon Budokan in Japan). I have read countless books about both GODS/TITANS of the guitar world over many decades and quite possibly every interview Jeff and Jimmy ever did. If you know very little about either guitar player and have nothing else to do, this video is worth watching. Otherwise, I recommend you scroll past it.

Jeff Beck, the lesser-known but still incredibly talented axeman who took over the lead guitar post after Eric Clapton's departure from The Yardbirds never really got his due for being such a great player. Page's ability to play the guitar is well-documented.

"Truth" is many a musicians' top 5 of all time, Jimmy and John P. Jones included, it surely is one of mine. It bypasses my ADD being one of the few albums I can listen to beginning to end uninterrupted ... It's blues, but hailing from the rings of Saturn . Those ghostly wailing effects he pulls with the slide (Shapes of things, Let me love you, Ol' Man River, Bolero) re purposed the slide away from the Mississippi delta into the realms of Sonic Youth (at a much later date) , love of sound for sound's sake

Note, detail about Jeff Back's acidic comment on Hall of Fame ceremony, about expulsion from group. Page is not smiling stupidly, but smiling as thrilled. 100% that he knew what Jeff Back have in mind, must be that they shared that Back's idea, and when he did it for real he was enthusiastic because he was his friend, and - they are not. Fact is that few average musicians and poor authors who spent in their band three of several best UK guitarist ever, thinking that they are stars and chiefs of band.

Anybody know exactly why Page wasn’t at the Jeff Beck tribute gig?? It was odd that he wasn’t there, IMO..
It could be a number of reasons. 1. Page could have had something else going on that prevented him from being there. 2. It’s quite possible he was too upset to show up, if he did people would have asked him to play guitar. Given everything that happened, he probably was too upset to play guitar. But again him not being there is kind of up in the air. He was at his funeral and gave a eulogy which was mentioned in the video, so was Robert Plant. But I believe it had to do with the fact that he was too emotional to go and it was still too soon for him to go and play live.

I found this video history of Jeff and Jimmy’s friendship to be elementary at best. If you are a fan of either guitarist the information here is common knowledge. There are also several areas of misinformation; I am not going to point them out because I have already wasted 21 minutes and 8 seconds watching the video. I only saw Led Zeppelin once in concert with a little known band called Judas Priest as their opening artist. I saw Jeff Beck 11 times in concert over the period of 5 1/2 decades (that includes once at the Nippon Budokan in Japan). I have read countless books about both GODS/TITANS of the guitar world over many decades and quite possibly every interview Jeff and Jimmy ever did. If you know very little about either guitar player and have nothing else to do, this video is worth watching. Otherwise, I recommend you scroll past it.
