      You can VQ/It equation if t is considered to be the total thickness of the welding that connects the part.

      @@MechanicsofMaterialsLibre Thanks for your reply. I was reading from my structural mechanics book which says that using VQ/IT is not accurate due to not accounting for horizontal shear stress. Is it safer to use VQ/I in all cases when designing welds for a built up member?
