I had lung cancer diagnosed in 1989 had surgery where one of my lungs was removed within months, I spent 10 days in the hospital, never had any serious illness since then, in 1992 I gave birth to a baby, I am thriving right now as a survivor, I have managed to focus on diet and staying positive
It's because she's healthy and other than cancer you're saying a regular person who has taken care of themselves most people you meet with cancer have been through the wringer with chemo radiation and so much more that they look worn. I don't mean to sound rude but chemo changes how you look and feel and people associate that look with cancer. Cancer without that kind of treatment doesn't look the same. It looks tired sometimes. Sad sometimes beautiful and happy others. If you don't have the money to eat super well it starts showing up like it has on me now. I just had my first allergy attack with the disease I was born with as a baby, at 60 years old. I haven't had one since first grade and I'll tell you it's a neurological attack it's a sore throat it's all these things. It's not a cold or flu it's a wicked serious allergy attack because I was born allergic to the world. The other babies who had it passed they didn't study me because one person doesn't make money for the pharmaceutical industry. As a child they made sure that they had me in the hospital every week or two weeks poking and prodding it was exhausting as a baby and as a young child enough to cause me extreme anxiety and a PTSD kind of feeling about doctors or any kind of procedures

Hi AJ , there is Kris Carr who had lung and liver cancer , stage 4 and she was told they could do nothing for - so she radically changed diet lifestyle and has been so well that although the cancer has not fully gone , because she is in such good health , she now around 20 years since the diagnosis . She DID A Documentary called Crazy Sexy Cancer - You might be interested in interviewing her - she is really lovely ❤
Kudos to Dr. Lederman for bringing up slow deep breathing to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, the relaxation side of us. It is life changing for people who need to be calmer and want much greater peace in their life.
My girlfriend, stage 4 lung cancer, worked closely with an acupuncture specialist. This doctor had her on specific herbs while going through chemo and radiation and has continued to work with her 11 years later. Consider finding an Asian medicine doctor to be by your side, as well. I have another acquaintance that worked with Chinese medicine through her ovarian cancer. 20 years out and cancer free.
Nice to hear as I am an acupuncturist. It is illegal for us to "treat cancer" but we are allowed to support the patient and mitigate side effects such as constipation, insomnia, neuropathy, anxiety, digestion etc. We are also so much more personal and invested. We take time, we touch, we care.
Just when I thought I couldn't love and respect you more, Chef AJ. Really no words could convey the power--the power of you in this moment. The power you are in the world right now. I am deeply, deeply moved. Again--really no words suffice. Thank you. I wish you peace above all, and countless moments of pure joy. Keep being true to YOU. Your gift to the world is beyond measure.
@CHEFAJ Your attitude is so moving and inspiring! ❤ Consider looking into oncologist, Robert Nagourney, in Long Beach. He's a pioneer in his field and analyzes the Pts tissue in his lab to determine an individual's best Tx options based the invitro analysis. 🙏🏻
I appreciate the support you've given me during my health and weight loss journey, and I'm of course hoping for the best for you. My sister had breast cancer in 1999 and it spread to her lungs in 2001. She did go organic vegan around that time. And she got recommended treatments. Now it's almost 2025 and she's the healthiest person I know. When I visit her in Boston we typically walk more than 25,000 steps a day. I hope things go well for you. When you do make your trip to Disneyworld, remember - there's one here in Tokyo too!
My husband has esophageal cancer and was told had a 30% change to live 5 years. They could not do surgery for him because of the spot of the tumor. He did chemo and radiation and that was back in 2018. We are Christians and had a whole community praying for him. He is alive and well. You can do this AJ. Sending you a hug. We are stronger than we think.
My 80 year old brother-in-law found out he had that cancer in March and he was gone in a few months. He did not eat WFPB and smoked cigars to the end. You Chef AJ are handling this right with diet and exercise.
Im so sorry you are going through this, AJ. Especially with Bailey's situation as well. Please do not concern yourself with what others think you should do. You do what YOU think is right for YOU. It doesn't matter what others think. You do what you think is best and have peace with it. ❤
Hello AJ, I am a 5 year survivor of stage 4 lung cancer. I’ve been on targeted therapy (2 pills daily). My last scan in November shows no evidence of disease. Hope you’re getting the testing for possible targets. I have Ros1 mutation and take a TKI for this mutation. Wishing you a speedy recovery. You are so strong . You’ll get through this!
Soursop/graviola, papaya, and apricot seeds/B17 are known to reduce tumors and fight cancer. I personally know someone with tumors in their lungs that has taken B17 and seen on scans a reduction. Every day is a gift and that is why it's called the present. You have a great attitude and that is a huge part of living your best life. It is a loving move to share. Good luck AJ.
I love Dr. Makis. I think it’s smart to listen to him and consider all of your options. Chris Wark and Courtney the anti cancer mom are wonderful to listen to. Good luck and many prayers with everything you’re going thru.
Life is a path that each of us have to travel. I am a below knee amputee. My path or journey hasn't been easy. The Footprints poem is also one of my favorite, and comforting. My Footprint poen at times had no Footprints, because I am on a piggy-back ride. I visualized a piggy-back ride with God. His back is so massive but comforting. I would see myself as a tiny little thing on His back, and I wasn't alone. There were others on the piggy-back journey also. Each of us have our on journey or path to walk, however it may lead you to the comfort, peace and healing nature of our Lord and Savior
No judgment here Chef AJ! You are strong, intelligent, empathetic, and brave. I want to thank you for your decision to share this journey with us. We all love you so much! Sending love, healing wishes and prayer (yes, I believe!) to you.
This is heartbreaking, and so grateful that you are sharing your journey for us all to learn from and grow. I will pray for your complete and miraculous healing.
Thank you so much for this. I'm in the process of making some final decisions with my treatments, and this was so helpful. I'm so glad you are finding some peace. I agree; having the support of my family and friends 100% has made all the difference in this journey!
Hi AJ, my 2 cents... all options will be hard, including doing nothing. There's no easy with cancer, it's a bully. I'm rooting for you, praying for your decision clarity, and peace with those decisions.
Keep your hopes up. This was what our sermon was about the past few weeks. Too many people say Don’t get your hopes up. You do you! Your decision is your best decision. God bless you. You are an inspiration. ❤
I feel like this is the interview that we all need to hear - whether medics, patients, or people supporting someone with cancer. Thank you so much AJ and Dr Lederman. AJ - sending you lots of love from the UK. 💝
We love you AJ. We will pray for you to be Strong, Happy and Joyful recovery. Lot of people had come out from cancer too. We want you to be fighter and cause positive outcome.
I love that you speak about how important it is to talk to people that have gone through what you’re going through. One of the kindest and most compassionate thing my neurosurgeon did for me when I had a tumor in my spinal column was to find a woman that was my age and activity level and have her call me talk to me about her experience and how great she’s doing years later! We are all rooting for you and I’m sending some serious healing mojo and juju!❤
I love you, Chef AJ. You have been my food Guru for years. And now, I encourage you to go with your gut and do what makes sense to you! I will be here cheering you on as a cancer survivor! You know best! If you need to go to church and listen to the music- do it. If you need to cry- then do it! This MD on with you today is a great resource. Do your research, then do as you have always done-blaze that trail! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ always here sending you love!
Stage 3 colon cancer survivor. Have you read, seen, or heard of Chris Beat Cancer? He had stage 3 colon cancer, had surgery, but refused chemo. He is still alive and doing well, helping others.
We LOVE you Chef AJ. Jesus walks with you. Never forget this. You’re a beacon of light and hope for so many and have been with your podcast. We all pray for your recovery and strength. Stay the courageous and beautiful soul you are ❤
Hi Chef AJ, so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I've been watching your videos and have one of your books. You're a tough cookie - I think you got this! You're an inspiration for all of us and as usual, you look great!
I am so sorry about your cancer diagnosis. You are my hero because you have helped me so much during the last 4 years during which I have used a plant-based diet to treat my cancer after rejecting chemo treatment that debilitating me for 2 years. I wish you the best.
Sending you love AJ. I’ve watched hundreds of your RUclips interviews, thank you for those pandemic years and looking forward to sharing many more with you. I’m so glad you have so many friends and supporters. Count me in. ❤🙏
My therapist is also a survivor. She’s been a great resource to me the past two years. We talk about holistic radical remissions cause by lifestyle often.
Hi Chef AJ. I want you to know that I am praying for you. My husband and I are both cancer survivors. Not lung cancer but Uterine and Leukemia. They both were caught by accident and caught early. It is another part of the journey in our lives. Stay strong. ❤
Your journey, as challenging as it is, is also a tremendous gift to others. Your experiences are teaching others invaluable information as you go. My sister had a different type of cancer, but chose to do nothing but the surgery. She changed her entire lifestyle (adopted a very healthy diet, exercised regularly and quit a stressful job). Her oncologist was very unhappy with her for not following standard care, but she extended his 6-month prognosis to 13 years, 12 of which were very healthy.
Dear Chef AJ, My sister had cancer three times, the last time it was so bad I thought we might lose her, she did it all, it was terrible, but even brain chemo, I was horrified, but she survived. She is well. Just do it. Pray. And just do it.
I am so glad that survivors years out from diagnosis/treatment have reached out to you! That is definitely the news you need to hear and remember! I have several friends who have survived and thrived after a cancer diagnosis, many of them are years in remission too! I have a feeling you are in that group! Seeing love and warm thoughts to you (and Charles and Bailey).
Chef AJ, I'm so so sorry to learn of your recent medical diagnosis. I'm sooo shocked and sorry. Keep up the good spirits. You've changed many lives in profound and positive ways. Stay positive. Remember, you're loved by many people who you've never med in person. Our prayers are always with you.
Wow these are great conversations. Thank you so much. Treatment is not straightforward, and people are afraid to discuss or suggest. Thank you and prayers to you for getting through this to remission!
You do you AJ. My mom had a life threatening reaction to anastesia that nearly killed her. She had a consult with the top anastesist in the hospital and she was told there are 9 different ingredients and they worked through it and found out what she was reacting to, took it out and she has had a few surgeries since with NO problems. I am glad you are having the consult. I wish you all the best.
You are an absolutely amazing person! I hope that whatever decision you make, that it works and we all have you in our lives for many years to come! I'm glad to see you have so much support AND so much information, even though I'm sure it is overwhelming. I also would like to send love to Bailey, I'm very sorry to hear she isn't doing well. She has had such a lovely life with you and she will be in your heart forever. Love you Chef AJ!
You are a beautiful soul and I have leftovers from one of your recipes in my refrigerator right now for dinner. I was selfishly excited (since I live in Houston) to hear you were possibly pursuing MD Anderson for a clinical trial. I was not in a position to get my prostate cancer treated there unfortunately, but their reputation is surely amazing!
You are making decisions with knowledge and I applaud your efforts. You have a strong foundation behind you♥️. Continue to take care of yourself the best way you know how.
Chef AJ thanks for doing this video with your doctor friend. It very helpful to have an advocate on your side. Thanks for your transparency and honesty. Certainly will be including you in my prayer for divine guidance and healing. Enjoy your trip to Disney .
Your openingly sharing your cancer story is a gift to us all to show us how to live. Consider relaxation bodywork with a Society for Oncology Massage trained therapist. The science testifies to benefits for sleep, energy, mood, depression. Great self-care. Trained non-medical touch is healing for the soul. We all want these benefits for you. Prayers for the right people to come into your life at the right time. And Circle of 8 intentional prayers for healing. Re: Mental Health you are seeking, yes, social is important. Also, the Minfulness meditation program of Massachusetts General that has been successful for over 40 years and made for moments such as today. Thank you, AJ, continuing to share life openly with us. Love and prayers ongoing.
Unsolicited advice is in our specious. When one gets sick or ill everybody wants to give their two cents without even asking if their advice wants to be heard. God bless you chef AJ. And may you be guided from within to do the right thing for yourself?
Hi Chef AJ! My father-in-law was diagnosed with lung cancer more 30 years ago. He survived in spite of continuing to smoke cigarettes until he died many years later. One surgeon said he was inoperable. Another said he could remove his lower lobe. This was done at the VA hospital in Portland. He had the surgery and nothing further. He developed COPD from smoking and died from respiratory complications from a chest cold more than 30 years later. As you said every person is different. Good luck on journey. Take a moment to celebrate your Birthday! Each one is special and so are you! 🌻🌻🌻🥰❤️🥰❤️
You are totally right that Cancer affects the whole family. Doing everything might not cure everything but not doing anything is even worse! We love you and are praying for you , get the best care you can, just do it. We are there for you ❤
Sending prayers to you during this journey. Just know that you are loved more than you know. Our Father is walking with you. Love and blessings for you. 🙏♥️🙏♥️
AJ, I have anxiety, too. AND (not "but"). . .saying "standard of scare" is never going to help you. I believe it's important you have a friendly, positive relationship to all the options, including the "standard" treatment -- so that you can carefully and critically consider it ALL, and not just things outside what you perceive as "bad" (standard of care.)
Chef AJ we are praying you find peace in your decisions. When I had stage 2 breast cancer at 70 I wanted to go the ND route but my ND suggested chemo and radiation. We compromised on both. I had chemo every Thursday and IVs from my ND twice a week. This was 2020/2021 so my NDs came to my house to administer the IVs and give me acupuncture. I discovered there are many solutions to a problem and no reason you can't do them all at once. We love you and Bailey and will keep you both in our thoughts and prayers.
Love you Chef AJ. Your love, devotion and dedication not only to humans but to all animals. My very best wishes to you. You got this! You are amazing and inspirational. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you to you, Chef AJ, and Dr Matt, for frank conversation. I keep you in my prayers, AJ, and support you in whatever you and Charles decide to do. Sending lots of love.
Love you sooo much for all you do and for sharing your story. I’m praying for you during this difficult time but I know that God is with you! Stay strong always! ❤
Thank you for sharing your feelings about being diagnosed with lung cancer. I pray that you receive excellent care with effective treatments. Trust in your body's innate ability to heal and feed those thoughts more than the scary ones. My daughter's father just had a lung tumor removed. All the new scary information can cause depression. He's waiting to find out what kind and which treatments will be recommended. His cancer was also an incidental finding. I'll share your channel with him. Dr. Joe Dispenza is really on to something too! I'm glad that you found a wonderful church & Chaplain! You can do this AJ!! ❤❤❤
Yes ! Get the treatment you would want. Maybe Mexico? Gerson? Chris Beat Cancer? Dr. V who has had cancer also. Charlene and T Bollenger? Just some things to throw out there for you! ♥️🙏🏻
My prayers will continue for you as you have a lot upcoming to sort through, make decisions and deal with. My positive prayers and thoughts are with you. Pressing on!
Hi Chef AJ, After being diagnosed with DCIS and having the tumor removed, I asked my oncologist if he could recommend something natural to take instead of the drugs I was taking. He yelled at me saying "I'M A DOCTOR"! I kept my composure but I now have another oncologist. Be strong!
Chef A.J. I am so glad you mentioned Ivermectin. I have no personal experience with it, however I have read testimonial that it has helped others with cancer. And it is a very safe drug. (Especially compared to radiation and chemo.) Looking into all these alternative things is such a good attitude to have to approach this. Your attitude about life and non judgment will help in your healing. Blessing and healing to you! And sending healing and peace to Bailey!
Oh AJ im so sorry you are going through this. I had a very aggressive fast growing breast cancer ten years ago my understanding was at the time was that they would take away the primary cancer but the chemo will kill off any cells that are floating around in the blood. some of the side effects were unpleasant but doable. I was a marriage celebrant so I still did weddings while I had chemo and radiation. AJ when I went to appointments at the hospital the waiting room was full one day which I mentioned to my oncologist. he said we keep people going for years now days with the new advances they have in treatments. I have a strong faith in God and I felt in my spirit that It would be a journey but I would be alright and here I am ten years later. each person is different and you have to do what you feel in your heart to do for you.
Chef AJ God bless and heal you sister ❤. You and so many others are a blessing. My Brother passed away at 42 with non smoker lung cancer. He was very healthy and physically fit

You’re so spot on with your points as to why not to go traditional! Ivermectin in brilliant!! You’re gonna be just fine! Don’t follow the money trial.
Keep thriving, God has your back!
Chef AJ, you taught us how to cook and how to eat and now you are teaching us how to live. I love you!

I am so sorry about your cancer diagnosis. You are my hero because you have helped me so much during the last 4 years during which I have used a plant-based diet to treat my cancer after rejecting chemo treatment that debilitating me for 2 years.
I wish you the best.
You have given so much to the world. You are so loved. I pray for you all the time. Many of us have shed tears with you. Big huggs ❤✨️
I love you Girl. You are my SUPERWOMAN! FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!
It's all up to you AJ- we will support your decision, whatever it is!
Many blessings to you, A.J., as you journey through this challenge!
I got such a powerful feeling of healing for you when you talked about going to church and loving the music and the connections. Much love, Chef AJ. ❤
Chef AJ, you have been SO generous to share all of this with us❤
You do you AJ.
I’m sorry AJ you are going through this. I wish I could help you in any way. I’ll pray for a miracle ❤ enjoy Disneyland. Live life to the fullest.
So sorry you are facing this, I have listened to you and your guests for years. Praying for your full recovery. ❤❤
Oh, wow, AJ! That was fantastic! I am in tears! What an inspiration you are! I'm so thankful for your sharing of your health journey. What a gift!❤
I’m so sorry AJ can’t even imagine what you’re going through!
You are in my prayers !
God bless you❤
We are there for you ❤
You do you, Chef AJ. Whatever you decide will be the right decision because it is yours. Much love and respect coming your way!
That was great in so many ways! Sending LOVE N LIGHT to you AJ for HEALING to all parts of you!
God is with you AJ, Stay strong, Have Faith, You Will Prevail!!!!!
Praying for you AJ. So sorry to hear about your lung cancer. May many blessings coming your way in miracles at that.
You're a winner and you're loved for your generosity and dedication to sharing the truth. Thank you for all you five us all
Wow, thank you
Do everything they are recommending! The earth needs you!!!!
Sending you tons of love AJ. I can only imagine how devastated you were when receiving the results as you mention. I send you hugs❤
You are such an inspiration to the world. You and Charles (and Bailey) will get through this because you have each other. Prayers and love to you. ❤
Thank you, Dr. Lederman for explaining it so clearly.
Glad it was helpful!
“The award for best lung biopsy…” lol, I love it! You’re the best, AJ!😂😂😂
You're so amazing and brave and honest and generous, AJ. Here for you whatever you decide. XO
Good to see you AJ. Wishing you full recovery! Carry on with your good spirits!
Love you Chef AJ. Your love, devotion and dedication not only to humans but to all animals. My very best wishes to you. You got this! You are amazing and inspirational. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You look AMAZING AJ! Keep living your beautiful life! Trust your intution. God is with you always. I love that you are deepening your faith.
You are amazing, I appreciate you sharing with us. We want to support you in any way you choose
Thank you so much 🤗
Prayers for wisdom as you navigate this and for your doctors. You will make the best choice for you.
I have paintings from the same artist that doctor Matt has hanging! They are lovely and inspiring! All the best to you Chef AJ!
I believe that your attitude will help heal you. We are here for you. I enjoy going to Mass. know that I am praying for you
Oh AJ im so sorry you are going through this.
