Lots of amazing pilots out there but videographers at this level for Pattern I have NEVER seen before. Amazing camera work and detail. I would love to seem many more such videos of pattern!!! Huzzah!

Probably one of the best R/C videos on RUclips

So much more enjoyable to watch than 3D. I have little interest in actually competing but, as a spectator, pattern is just so much nicer. 3D is hard to discern from a spazzing electronics package, but this is a plane that's under complete control at all times.
Also, pattern planes tend to be much prettier. I wouldn't mind having a 40-size pattern plane with tricycle retracts and an FS52 in the nose just for shits 'n giggles flying. Like I said I have no interest in actually trying to compete but I think these types of planes look gorgeous and the on-rails manner in which they fly is perfection.

I'm re-teaching myself precision pattern flying after way too many years away from it. This video is the catalyst for wanting to fly that style again. Not only is the flying superb but the camera work is outstanding. Thanks to everyone responsible for this contribution. Excellent work.

Ken, this vid never ceases to amaze me. It is the best model airplane video ever, imo. Please share tech details of how it was filmed!

Wish you'd have put up a label (text) identifying each maneuver. I flew Class D pattern in AMA competition back in the 1970's with my O.S. Max .60 R/C engine and Kraft "Gold Medal Series" R/C gear on 72mhz. I recognize some elements, but things have changed drastically in the past 40 some years. The worst part about being an "RC Senior" is that all the top pilots I used to look up to when I was young are now deceased. There was a time when ALL the RC gear was made here in the USA. (my 1st RC transmitter actually had tubes in it, with batteries to light the filaments, and others to provide HV for the plate circuitry) I fly electric Quadcopters now. I have a feeling that if today's RC enthusiasts had to endure what we did back "in the old days", there would be few left in the hobby. I'm glad that technological advances have kept the hobby going and affordable to the masses.

EXCELLENT CHOICE OF MUSIC FOR THIS VIDEO, GREAT PILOT, AND GOOD VIDEO FOOTAGE.

Utterly incredible. I've seen a lot of pattern, I've flown a lot of pattern, but that's the best I've ever seen. Perfectly powered, perfect speed control. Delightful roll control and enviable heading control. If I could have my dream flight, it would look like that. Posting the link to my forum, explaining "this is how it's done!"

Precision aerobatics is just that. Svetlana Kapanina at times shows the absolute precision of hitting the points exactly with
no wobble or fudging. Harv does this too and it only comes with tons of practice. I've seen some indoor pattern planes fly this well but that's with no wind and the airplane is quite close in to the pilot. Cliff Weirick scored all 10s in the old AMA pattern back in the 60s so they made the sequences much more difficult. I can't see how you can make anything more difficult than some of these sequences. Thanks for setting the bar much higher.

The slow rolling loops are awesome.
I can do them with a 3D foamie but not a pattern ship.
    Great flying.

3D aerobatics are impressive but pattern, especially at this level, is so very elegant and sexy.

Hey Ken, don't know what you paid for the new camera, but it was worth it. Harv makes a very difficult sequence look effortless. I can fly like that too.(In my dreams).
Great job of keeping the Caelestia in frame.

Thank you Dan Ya I'm pretty happy with the Cam. Its still a big challenge keeping it in frame But that would have been impossible with my cheap y cam . Do you know how awful it is to not scratch and let the fly's such on your neck for that long? HA HA HA. Editing takes a lot more patients because with such huge files, It takes along time moving things around. But the extra detail makes for the ability to do lots without ruining the picture quality. Thanks for watching.

beautiful....I've just gotten interested in precision aerobatics....got an Eflite Leader 480...
and really enjoy learning the skills. I noticed the prices for the Caelesia and others are
$1,000 - 3,000 .....I'm not THAT interested. I'll fly my poor man's pattern plane and do the best I can.

Buy an FMS Olympus. It's cheap, almost ready to fly, and flies great. That's the one I trained on

@@beb0p858 sounds like a good one if I should decide to scale up from the smaller 3 cell planes.

update - its been 7 months - still flying my Leader 480, recently got a Night Visionaire - it is serving me well as a sport aerobatic plane - it has 3D ability but I'm not using that part. I have my eye on an Extreme Flight 300 exp 48 inch -
I think it would make a good sport flyer for me.
