Despite the very impressive brown add-on match featured here, I still think that the condemned playstyle is 100% reliant on her best add-ons. The Iri Tape makes multiple TVs reset that would otherwise take 100s each to reappear. Without that, I don't think you can hope to get consistent results in big maps where teams split up and don't make big mistakes. Whatever you think of Sadako, I think we can all agree that a Killer should not have to bring specific add-ons to keep up with the rest.
I agree with the condemned playstyle being reliant on her best addons; 100% for sure! It specifically allows her to consistently 4k. With only browns, purples or greens, an all out condemned playstyle, would blow over against a great team. But, when kill viability comes into question, I probably tier things a little differently! (or possibly I am missing something) If the goalposts were at a 2k, - A 3 gen setup eruption strat - Condemnation not only for kills, but also slowdown - Hooks on survivors - Taking in account browns addons, greens, purples etc. she likely, could consistently 2k, even against good teams! (The way I usually tier a killer at B-Tier is when a killer can hover around a 2k against good teams) But, if you meant she's not viable solely with basekit zero addons, I agree! It's very likely we tier things differently! I agree with the majority of your stance on her though!
@@CoconutRTS She's very, very reliant on certain addons and perks to make this playstyle work. Without gen perks, gens fly. Without her specific addons, condemn is harder to achieve.
@@CoconutRTS Okay sure I agree that with 3 gen COB eruption setups she can squeeze out a 2k, but that’s not a Sadako exclusive thing. Any killer can squeeze out a 2k in a 3 gen COB eruption
@@blaze3256 I don’t really play DBD either anymore for a variety of reasons, time being one, but MAN has Sadako tempted me to dive back into the DBD pit, so I totally get you! 😆
I didn't know Sadako Rising was so controversial I always liked playing as Onryō even when things were rough in the meta, simply because I thought the concept of a Ringu chapter was just so cool and fresh of an idea at the time
The problem is that her TV teleport is just a weaker Freddy teleport. And then months later they released dredge which is just sadakos power on crack. She never got room to breathe as she was power crept out of the game as soon as she released
@@pooppet1768 Does not really matter how "cool" she is, if she is such trash that basically no one wants to play it. Sadako´s greatest strength is that she is so bad that no one wants to play her, which in turn makes that some survivor players don´t know how to play against it. Besides, the best Sadako player got steamrolled so ridiculously hard when up against an organized SWF, think it was three games they played (Otz channel), where he had some success the first game (when they were not used to Sadako), second game was a horrible struggle for him but eventually he managed to get one kill and three left, third game the SWF did not bring any perks or items (without the killer knowing) and absolutely dominated the match against Sadako. Sadako is trash.
@@GenericUserName443 But here’s a counterpoint to your statement. How often are you going to encounter a SWF that organized? Cause I’ve played DBD for almost 3 thousand hours and I’ve only ever encountered 10 SWF’s that were organized beyond belief. The problem is Otz’s demonstration matches are done with Competitive mindsets in mind. BHVR is not designing every killer to be competitively viable, they’re more focused on the casual player base and making sure they have fun even if they are losing. Reminder that DBD is an Asymmetrical game, which is known in the wider game industry as near impossible to Balance. One side will always be stronger than the other no matter how much BHVR tinkers with it, the more they lean to ‘balance’ the more dull the game gets, because they are trying to Balance catering to the casual player base and the competitive player base, which the competitive player base is the smaller minority of the player base, compared to the casual majority. Edit: I should also add, if all your going to do is base your entire judgment off of another content creators opinion, then you shouldn't really be allowed to make any judgment calls about what you think is right or wrong, unless you've actively went out of your way to play the killer enough yourself to gauge your OWN opinion, rather than going through word of mouth, we call that herd mentality.
Another thing people usually forget is that Killers being weak/strong in the meta usually matters only in the higher tiers of play, which the majority of the players never actually reach. Sadako is a killer that can be incredibly frustrating to play against against most players.
Just not true. A killers strength can be seen in every game. The matters part is inherently subjective. Sadako’s lack of power can often be seen against any competitive team or decent team, weak or strong in the meta can be seen 24/7 against these decent players.
This is exactly what I wanted when I voted for you to do more story telling. This is absolutely the niche type of dbd videos you should make. Amazing work, great video.
Agreed, I can have trouble visualizing what most commentators are saying and keeping up but this is by far THE most engaging DBD meta analysis video I’ve seen yet !
@@ciguatera780 honestly i feel like this game is so hard to understand basic strategies so seeing it broken down with the perks and their rules on screen really helps an idiot like me understand synergy, map awareness, and tactical decisions
@@dusthymn8187 i feel ya; in my case, I'd say I have a well-rounded knowledge of the game and current meta but when DBD analysts say "so and so perk was a nightmare to deal with" i wonder how, what exactly did it look like since I only have my version of the game to compare it to. I wouldn't call yourself stupid or anything, DBD is a fickle beast. Off The Record went from going unnoticed for years to S rank so it can be a bit much if you're not immersed in the community and all
Since her release, loved every bit of her. Did a Sadako focused stream where I cleaned house with her. Maybe others were mistreating her. But Sadako has a lot of viability and if an individual shut off a tv another will be available. Giving her Generator punishing perks and pressuring others along the way is brutal. Playing as her and seeing others play her, made noticed that most survivors have a hard time against her because they are desperate to turn off tvs, take tapes, unhook a friend, and work on a gen. They have too many things to do and worry about Sadako that it is stressful for them. All the more fun!
Nobody ever has to touch a tape. Sadako is only "good" if survivors are making mistakes. She is a bad killer because she has nothing against good survivors. Nothing. Other killers are better in every way. She needs buffs. I love Sadako. She would be my favourite killer just because I love her as a character if she wasn't in such a bad spot. I don't want to be forced to use addons just to be playable, especially iri ones. She needs some love, condemned needs to work better and not be easily ignorable.
Tapes aren't a big problem to deal with at all. I can grab a tape and do a significant chunk of a gen before ever worrying about the tape. In fact, just a few hours ago I decided to make the tape hurt Sadako even more and purposefully turned off all the tvs I saw on my way to slot in my tape. Didn't bother me or cause a problem at all. Slotting in a tape removes so much Condemn, I went from almost 7 to just 3. Condemn is a joke unless Sadako is using the slug condemn build.
No matter what a killer says on paper, it's mostly about the people who play the killer that determines its tier. And everyone's tier is different. It's just heartening to hear that the focus is being drawn to those who play them, and not what is presumed because of their abilities.
Everytime I have gone against Sadako, my heart would skip a beat at each chase encounter from her because she is terrifying with her phasing, super smooth movement, and her TV ability is actually OP with timing and skill and Aura abilities really benefit her Killer Ability.
I laugh when I play against a bitter sadako player, especially when they miss everytime, people literally have to be extremely skilled in order to be successful with this killer, she's extremely slow and we've been able to dodge her hits ..
@@tha-pugfather76 thats why she isn't supposed to go for the kill immediately, she is supposed to wait till the condemned stacks are enough for the drop and kill
I was 100% survivor main until Sadako. She was my first killer main and first killer adept (only 6 more to go). She brought me over to the killer side. I love her playstyle dearly and always have. The only games I lose with her are when RNG gives me the largest maps. Even then I learned how to play her differently to catch a 3-4k on the biggest maps in DBD. I was probably one of 3 people entirely not surprised to see her so high on the high-mmr kill rate.
I'm glad you mentioned OnePumpWillie. I'm a fan of his! Also, he had achieved a *310* win streak with this current MMR! The only grain of salt or caveat I might add to this is, his win streak involved that iridescent tape add-on. However even his double brown add-on showcase is a good example of what Onryo is capable of.
Those survivors played into the trap of constantly going for the same gen against a gen kicking build that allows the killer to win those trades. I don't think that was Onyro necessarily.
@@Justmonika6969 What exactly is the point here? Survivors made some mistakes, therefore Onryo is a trash killer regardless? But you do realize that when survivors play perfectly and efficiently, *no killer* can win, right?
In my experience Sadako players tend to be the most ruthless killers out of all of them. Rest of the killers sometimes will give you hatch, sometimes will play less than optimal perks. But since Sadako is so hard to win as, her players will stack everything in their favor, and do whatever then can to guarantee the kill, meaning highest ratio. You can also make a case that since she's the weakest killer people tend to underestimate her, which dooms them, and that only the most confident killers play as her.
It’s funny how you can get a glimpse of a humans personality by the killer they play in DBD. Sadako and Huntress mains definitely always seem the most tryhard. Meanwhile Legion mains always seem the most likely to let the last survivor take hatch, in my experience. Wesker mains can just eat 💩

She is one of the few killers that actually makes a sound while breaking a boom totem. Most other killers just silently stomp it out with no sound but she makes a cool static sound while breaking a boon. So that’s one main reason why I love her.
Between this and your pursuit of the perfect Low Profile play inspired by That Bill, I think it's safe to say that your video production quality has skyrocketed. Keep up the great work!
Hey Coco, I just want to say that I like these style of storytelling videos. I imagine these are time consuming as hell to make, but I always watch them from start to finish.
I like this type of video, Can you do Ghostface next? I think a series of video's like this looking into every kill to to determine what the developers were thinking when they were designing the Killer to better determine how this killer was meant to be played or at least how the developers thought so.
he is suppose to be a killer where he 99% you then comes with nightshroud and instant down you. the issue is that marking people is counter-productive as time resource to hitting people with nightshroud and there is no real penalty for being marked as compared to not being marked. He has no chase power and is purely m1 killer in chase with exposed. He is like better base-kit myer's but Myer has instant-kill add-on's which make Myer good where as ghostface is never good because base-kit myer is garbage. Saying Sadako is not bad is like saying Myer with 3 stacks of pwyf & instant-kill mori's is not bad.
@@shaunhayes3072 his lean isn't broken. What was broken was survivors being able to pull him out of stealth with changing field of view. He is balanced.
I don’t understand the Sadako hate, she was the first character I ever bought and I love plying as her. She’s my second favorite character to play as only behind Pyramid Head.
I remember that PTB for Sadako and Yoichi very clearly mostly due to the fact that it was my birthday that day and it was nice to try her out and kinda felt like a birthday gift for me! She’s still weak in my opinion but she is by far my favorite killer based on her design and Mori!!
For all that Willie and Coco can prove about her strength, the one thing that will always stand in her way is the amount of skill you need to realize that strength.
I actually think Sadako is one of the best designed killers in the game. I really enjoy playing as her a lot, and I did not expect to when I first started trying her out. I play far too much of a variety of killers to truly have a "main", I get bored when I'm just playing one over and over again, but Sadako is definitely one that I gravitate towards a lot now :3
Black paint can be real fun on her (add-on that keeps you undetected for 2 seconds after manifesting) paired with tangled hair so you can get even closer
I'm exactly the same, I get bored playing one killer for too long but since her release she's been my go-to more than others, it used to be pig,Dr or Freddie although I've been finding the knight "interesting" since I got him lol but I don't have much spare time to put into dbd unfortunately
The editing in this was so good, the highlighting of names and showing which add-ons and perks were used in good plays as well as nice transitions. And thank you for proving Sadako's viability
He streams most days and does receive a lot of salt for that playstyle, but he's a super positive dude and brushes it off pretty well. He's had a couple of teams stream snipe him to try to end his win streak (he made it to 310) that came into his chat after the fact trying to talk shit, but Willie's a hard guy to hate so they moved on pretty quickly.
@@XaiooiaXI’m pretty new to DBD, and man let me tell you, a lot of killers all running the exact same perk load out makes the game very difficult to enjoy a lot of the time. Aswell since if their able to get the timing right on pick up for Sadako You're stunned for less time and might have time to hit them while their vaulting the pallet. It doesn't work always but ehh it's fun. Depending on, you can change out discordance for spirit fury but that's up to personal preference.

Although I may not completely agree, I have to admit the dedication here is crazy. My man waited like half a year holding the same opinion against everyone else, and waited for it to finally be proven. Then when he got what he was waiting for, he made an entire video that was essentially the most polite "Fuck you, I was right" that I have ever heard. That, if nothing else, definitely deserves props.
I think one of the reasons she's always seen as completely weak is because people say being addon reliant just makes a killer just outright bad and there's so much to her kit we didn't understand for so long like the static on the survivor indicating how far along a survivor is to condemned. Just recently I found out that if you teleport to a TV you can see who you condemn on the left by who lights up since it's technically their state updating. It's a super subtle detail and her kit is chock full of small details like that that you have to make use of. She's definitely not top tier by any means but I honestly think she's stronger than a lot of people really let on at first.
Hens played against Willy in order to see how sadako performs against top tier survivors that know how to counter her. Although the first game ressulted in a 2k, later on hens and his team developed stratagies to greatly reduce the effectiveness of this playstyle, this included taking tapes out of target tvs to deny pressure on them, bringing self heals and unbreakable to counter ring drawing, predropping to avoid manifest mindgames, as well as generaly playing optimaly. The end ressult was that sadako could consistantly be countered by a team of well cordinated survivors to the point where they are only able to get one kill a match. That being said it is very rare that survivors like this are found making sadako still quite a strong killer as proven by this video. Most people assume that if a killer can be reliably hard counterd by top teams then that makes them bottom tier, but even most full SWF teams are not nearly as optimal, not to mention he was able to pull this playstyle off in a competitive setting on haddonfield. My conclusion is that sadako is a killer that needs some buffs to be less addon reliant, as well as have some tools introcuced to help defend tapes more effectively, but otherwise is a high risk, high reward, time efficient killer with high mobility that can effectively make use out of hit and run as well as occasional mindgame at loops for downs when not expected.
the same could be said for pre dropping pallets so killers just waste time breaking them instead of playing catch up, rest of the community won't do it because they think saving a pallet is a good idea but instead, just force the killer to stay on you and get 3 survivors to pressure gens
people don't think that a killer is bottom tier because a top swf can beat it consistently. her status as a mid tier is consistent across the opinions of most players. if this no hook playstyle became more prevalent you would start seeing more counterplay against it starting at higher levels of play and eventually lower levels too. this no hook strat isn't some secret to making her a better killer but a cheese that relies not so much on execution but on players not being used to it.
i mean TBF maybe only blight and nurse can't be hard countered by a team who knows exactly how to counter their power (and that is still being generous, i`m pretty sure ANY killer can be hard countered to oblivion
April ghost is also a great sadako main, not a win streaker but shows many different builds and explains things she could do better in her videos, really fun to watch.
First off, GREAT VIDEO!! I've been playing Sadako more because of you Coco. She is super fun but you really do have to have more situational awareness with her. I have to work on building Condemn, which TVs get turned off or about to be, and survivor's icons that displays they have a tape. I don't wanna use the slugging playstyle because I feel it's unfun/boring for the other side since I have gone against it. I'll just wing it for now while trying to improve.
The reason why sadako can reach those numbers is because the really few onryo players are usually really dedicated to the character itself. She is by far the killer that requires the most gamesense, making her easily into the top 5 hardest killers in the game if you want to play her at the highest level. If you need to be the top 1 to reach a 200 winstreak with a killer that probably means that it might not be as good as the rest of them. Definately still C tier.
Go to killer stats and even the majority of players have a KR over AVG making her either top C if you still want her to be C or realistically Mid B tier.
@@Nxhbody confused solo who struggle with the tape mechanic buffing those numbers dont make her b tier, otherwise pig is like A tier by that logic and pig is the most mid b tier killer there is. pig defines B tier. Its like the marker for it.
@@ndfdm5705 Exactly this, while tier lists arent the perfect representation of how far you can bring a killer. Tier lists act as a relative guideline on how the average joe would perform against the current meta with the killer. Its why pig is B tier and Sadako is "relegated" to C tier. Anyone with enough gamesense, mechanical skills and luck can bring any killer to long winstreaks. Sadako in the wr of any mmr is high because newbies don't understand how to deal with a killer they usually don't face off against, let alone one with such a different playstyle to most killers. If you've checked the one where the mmr is top percentile, she falls into the average wrs.
@@LDAR Spirit on release was mental, she had no vault animation meaning you could mind game with that, 2 passive phasing addons which literally made any unsafe loop unloopable as you needed to stun and run or you would just get hit and then her power lets her traverse the map insanely fast and get quick downs, does take a little skill to use. The only thing that really hindered her was the fact that iron will was 100% grunt and moan reduction when injured so you couldnt as easily track people when injured but every decent spirit could just run predator if they wanted to totally counteract people spinning around to mess up the scratch marks making it a 50/50 on guessing where they went, also she had collision whilst in power. She was the only other killer besides nurse that didnt actively need to run ruin to stand a chance.

Been really loving your recent videos and editing style for them too man, they stand out in the sea of other DBD videos on here! This was a great watch, honestly I’d love to see more videos of players who have mastered other mid-to-low tier killers. It’s so rare to see and sometimes I have to dig to find decent videos of players trying out interesting stuff with them.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I see it looks like his playstyle relies more on holding a 3 gen with cob, overcharge and eruption, which is something that almost every killer can do. Sure, sadako has her own benefits and this guy certainly seems very good at what he's doing, but I wonder how much of it comes from the perks and how much actually comes from Sadako's power.
Sadako's power is enhanced by the 3 gen, keeping the survivors closer together makes every TP condemn more than just 1 person. so yes most killers can hold a 3 gen, but she is one of the a few that get extremely stronger in a 3 gen situation.
Her power by TPing across the map while having the very good secondary function of building condemned (which was displayed several times in the video) is what helps show how her power shows without perks.
@@foulrot nah, all killers benefit from that because bunched up survivors mean less chases and higher special hit ratio: I mean...plague...cannibal...wesker -higher hit chance and surv on surv collision - even hill billy since he can insta down someone then immediately start up a new insta down chase. Legion, obviously, even clown benefits because of exit point choking via group clogs and economic gas cloud usage. Fuck...even nemi because his power will more reach by then and his zombies will typically begin to choke a gen and hit at least one scattered group, all of these killers see MASSIVE benefit from this scenario near instantly from this set up. Sasako has to sweat like shes trying to lose weight to get same impact as these killers.
90% lol. Sadako is really weak against a solid team. Even with the whole condemned agreement, that's not had to counter. I've been condemned once when she first came out and never again after that super easy killer to escape from if you know what to look for.
yes all killers can use 4 regress as part of thier strat but the thing that makes it good on Sadako and her power is the inevitability that she can kill 4 players at 0 hooks which no other killer can do. if you dont heal a teamate whos slugged in 5 mins they die and force people to stay within condemn range. Basically OPW is saying her strengh comes from removing the need of a core mechenic and step in killing players.
I loved the way you presented this - reminded me of your story for the Bill build where he escaped you 7 times in a match. I also love that Sadako is *finally* getting the attention she deserves - when she was released, the consensus was definitely "shitty M1 Killer raaaargh", but I always pushed back - I knew she was B-tier *at worst*, and that other people hadn't unlocked her potential. I regularly get 2-3 mori kills per match with her when I play her, and there's a HUGE skill floor AND ceiling for her kit. (Hell, I got her Adept the first time I played her!) She's absolutely one of my favorite Killers, not just in terms of her kit, but also, her source material is wonderful, and I would go so far as to say her sound design is *perfect*. (I even made a Reddit post about such!) Anyway, good video - keep it up!
I started playing when Sadako was released. She's an iconic character and I love the Ring series original movies, books, TV shows and even the terrible American ones... I LOVE playing her because I feel powerful. She's a ton of fun to teleport around with and just knowing how creepy you look as you crawl out of a TV right next to a survivor is perfect. It's not an easy time using her as killer, you can't just run around trying to hit everyone and hope for the best.
I’ve gotten the four mori’s before a few times with the brown tv regen addon and the green heal addon and this play style is so unique to play and is super fun.
It'll be cool to see compilation of every killer best player like the pantheon of master that has understood the full potential of a killer , and you with huntress might be among these Olympians
While I do see that she isn’t necessarily weak, I feel that this is a very weird situation as you need to play a certain way to be extremely successful with her and that’s not the worst in a game with many killers with different play styles, it just means that if you want to be decent with her consistently you can’t really be diverse in your play style which hurts because there are many other killers where that is achievable. I’ll also say in terms of build is that there is a massive push to have eruption nerfed from the community because it is seen as overall not healthy for the game as it punishes solo queue. I’d be interested to see Willie use different builds with this play style and see how successful he is. This also paints her as a new type of Billy, a killer who gets punished severely for making a mistake when if other killers made a similar one would not. It definitely gets you in a special tier of skill, but it’s unfortunately that the same level of victory can be achieved at lower skill with other killers.
He’s done many other builds on stream before and still crushes lobbies. The reason you usually see him with his strongest build is because he’s often at very high win streaks.
Sadako is fine at lower skill levels, simply because survivors aren't good at looping. Really, the only thing you fear as Sadako is a team where all survivors are good in chase, otherwise you can simply target the weak links in the team. She only really has a problem at higher levels when all the survivors are skilled because if you can't get easy hooks, it's very tough. But against low level survivors you can sometimes straight up grab a healthy survivor off a gen because you take them by surprise with your stealth and get super close, especially if you're running the well water add-on.
I played with condemn force in a game once and then they told me "watch more one pump willie please" at that point I wasnt really active in the community so I had no idea who he was and I was kinda glad that I had a similar playstyle to the best sadako, without copying him
Now One Pump Willie says himself that Onryo's basekit needs help, so there is definitely a lot of room for improvement. But also, who the frick plays a basekit killer? So for me, it doesn't matter if she's dependent on running certain addons. If she's got the chops to consistently decimate with her best addons (as Willie has shown is possible with super long winstreaks and tournament play), she can't be that bad.
well he did lose every single match against hens squad, and with almost no hooks too because of the playstyle, but yeah she's alright with addons. I think when you're running iri addons every game just to play a killer the killer is in a seriously sorry state. Look at Michael, he's completely unplayable without minimum green addons.
@@viennasavage9110 I mean technically you're spending bloodpoints every match on EVERY killer to not suck, unless you're Nurse. The only difference is ofc the rarity of the addons you're paying for.
I recently played against sadako that was more hard to play against than against blight with giga busted addons and pre nerf meta perks. I literally couldn't do anything.
As someone who finally joined the game recently, I was surprised to see so many people in the community tryharding the game to the point its almost impossible to enjoy the game or learn about it by playing as a new player. When I used to watch videos of the game in the earlier years of its release it seemed like everyone was just having fun and trying out new things.
The game is pretty old at this point. Once a game gets old, all the remaining players are usually playing for competitive reasons. Also dbd isnt a game that you can have fun playing casually if your opponent is playing to win.
I started playing DBD after Sadako’s release but I played her once and from the get go I knew she was my killer Main. Personally I’ve always thought of her as a A+/S tier. I rarely have matches where I don’t get at least 3 kills and I’m playing against survivors much higher level than myself.
The game play OnePump showcased was insane and really well played. I picked up on a little bit of things that were happening and even came up with a concept. 10/10 video, I truly enjoy watching and learning about DBD, I wish I could play the game though.
When I first got my hands on her, I will be honest, my expectations were low, seeing how the community treated her, I thought I would only get her for the perks, I loaded into a bot lobby in customs so I can try her play style, and, oh boy was I wrong about her, with the right perks, like Tinkerer, BBQ, Lethal, and whatever, I quickly realized, that she would easily be one of my favorite killers, I love her stealth mechanic, and her perks and add ons are nothing to sneeze at, the fact that the community says she’s low tier at best, blows my mind, also, you were the one who indirectly convinced me to get her, and I see where you’re coming from, so, thanks☺️
In terms of sound and lore design she's spot on. Ringu is my favourite horror movie and the sound effects, movement is perfect! My only gripe is her height. She didnt seem that short when she was pushed into the well. It's like the took the lore of the original and gave her the height of the American remake. I like playing her. A lot. I think people are writing her off too quicl;y. They arent playing her to her full potential. Of course, she is weaker than most killers but it takes practice! I enjoyed this video very much!
In due time though Sadako's real strength (or lack thereof) will be revealed with the introduction of unlimited Unbreakable as part of every Survivor's basekit. Willie found an incredibly effective way of playing her, no doubt - but he relies heavily on slugging. I'm curious what he's gonna come up with once basekit Unbreakable is here and his current baseline strat basically goes out the window.

IF unbreakable becomes basekit. They were using the PTB for what it was made to be used for. Testing out new things and seeing how people would react. Most people don't want basekit unbreakable and BHVR's been listening a lot lately. It's not set in stone that it's gonna happen.
Its cause Otz told everyone she was C tier, and his pigeons mouthbreathed it all over the community. Noticed he keeps quiet now or waits "until the time is right" to give his Killer Tier List now.

Sadako always had potential. It was mad annoying to always be told otherwise when they never put in the work to actually learn the character and see how many layers there were to her playstyle.
She has potential, she's just reliant on 2 crazy strong addons. Her addons in general really boost her viability. Without addons and perks, her placement in charts is very accurate. She's a low lethality killer initially that only becomes high lethality if she can stall out the match and people ignore her condemned.
@Bizzle Made When a killer is only useful when using 2 addons over and over with no build vareity, thats the issue. Addons shouldnt force a killer to suddnely be good, they should help you with different playstyles
@Bizzle Made No, i wont. Ill speak how i want and Sadkos base numbers are god awaful. 100 second cooldown per TV, Codemeded doesnt do ANYTHING unless you build for it, and so on.

@@Nervonous because BHVR is nown for its "well thought through" policy. Sorry but they always did changes because it suits there liking, not others or else they wouldn't have done changes that nobody wanted. For example the UI-change. That's only one of many problems they caused and it wouldn't strike me hard if they intended no counter play. It's like the perks that could potentially counter targeted killers like urban evasion with hag or calm spirit with doctor. Sure you could use them but you never know which killer it is which means those equipped perks are now useless. Guess we will see if there is any counter at all.
There are plenty of counter plays. I rarely die against a sadako even in solo que. Once you figure out how to counter her, Sadako becomes one of the easiest killer to go against
@Fallen into darkness true, most people don't know how to play any killer optimally. So when ever my team goes against her I have them all do separate gens and every time she teleports you get a sound notification so that tells you to be more aware, if you're in a chase and get that notification most of the time sadako is trying to teleport in front of you so I just turn around and run back the way I came to buy more time. If she keeps coming back to the same Gen 3x then I have my guys bait it, example I have them or me tap it and then just leave and go to a new Gen so next time its kicked the killer thinks someone is hiding close by so she will waist more time looking around the area. Rhe hardest part of playing sadako is paying attention you really have to just move you're camera around a lot like uou would a wraith. Do that and you'll get out 9x out of 10x. Not easy at first but after some time it's easy.
I would like to point something out. Although I think the condemn playstyle is pretty damn viable, that game with Willie on temple of purgation didn’t seem like it had the best survivors. They weren’t playing it super safe and they made a lot of mistakes. I can see him having a lot more trouble if that team had been more comp-ish. Good stuff, still. He’s very talented.
Otz made a showcase with him and a good team over three matches, he did well the first game and got absolutely stomped the other two. The reason was not that complicated, the first game they were not entirely sure on how to best play against it which is understandable since so few actually play this killer. The second they learned Sadako lost pretty much all its power and was just awfull.
As someone who plays Sadako a lot, she's definitely not weak. She's not strong without iri tape, but she can still have a decent power level with her other add-ons, which all range from alright to pretty good. Cabin sign is basically iri tape at home and ring drawing is unique in the pressure it gives. Yoichi's fishing net makes taking tapes even more of a risk. Even with just cabin sign and Yoichi's net, you can capitalize on a survivor mistake in their positioning and take them out very early. That won't always happen but it very much can. And truthfully, you don't need 3-4 slowdown to do well, though a high amount of any slowdown makes a killer much stronger and consistent.
Would explain all the other killer mains running Eruption or trying to prestige Nemesis to get eruption on their favorite killer. Great work putting this together.
Overall, "Herd mentality" leads all of dbd's discourse. It disheartens me to watch the overwhelming majority of players not even play the game, and simply adhere to their favorite creator's commentary and opinions. I think every killer in the game is uniquely strong in their own way, and it's ok to not be adept at all killers, and that by no means makes the ones that are more difficult or require you to adapt your playstyle and tactics bad, they're just not your style.
Picked up the game during sadako rising and became a sadako main. As a casual who has faith in my main, I'm happy that there are strong players for her
I play warhammer40k too. The necrons were considered a weak faction by the community. The problem is that even after numerous buffs the win rate didn't rise. But that was because a lot of bad players or low teams play the more simple necrons competitively. GW kept buffing them. Now they have a 55% win rate overall in competitive play - but in high level play they are insaine! They got a 90-95% win rate if played by top players . . . Like in DbD the community speaks loud and get heard by the designers - which is not always a good thing.
It's good to listen to the community. It's also good to make good choices and only listen to good ideas from the community. Most ideas are just bad. But the bad ideas might be a seed for a good idea. That style of play actually looks like it might be fun for everyone because no one is out instantly.
"The community demanded she receive a buff."

Clown mains crying
I agree with the condemned playstyle being reliant on her best addons; 100% for sure! It specifically allows her to consistently 4k. With only browns, purples or greens, an all out condemned playstyle, would blow over against a great team.
But, when kill viability comes into question, I probably tier things a little differently!
(or possibly I am missing something)
If the goalposts were at a 2k,
- A 3 gen setup eruption strat
- Condemnation not only for kills, but also slowdown
- Hooks on survivors
- Taking in account browns addons, greens, purples etc.
she likely, could consistently 2k, even against good teams!
(The way I usually tier a killer at B-Tier is when a killer can hover around a 2k against good teams)
But, if you meant she's not viable solely with basekit zero addons, I agree! It's very likely we tier things differently! I agree with the majority of your stance on her though!
@@CoconutRTS She's very, very reliant on certain addons and perks to make this playstyle work. Without gen perks, gens fly. Without her specific addons, condemn is harder to achieve.

@@GenericUserName443 I'm having fun and kills with her. The end
@@GenericUserName443
But here’s a counterpoint to your statement.
Justice for my girl Sadako. :fist:
frrr they just don't get it
Just not true. A killers strength can be seen in every game. The matters part is inherently subjective. Sadako’s lack of power can often be seen against any competitive team or decent team, weak or strong in the meta can be seen 24/7 against these decent players.

I love this review/comment style where you explain key situations and cause/effect of choices. Do more of that, please.
Make her teleporting to tvs give survivors 2 stacks of condemned. Boom, done.
what is rare is finfding sadakos that actually need that cordination to be survived.
i mean TBF maybe only blight and nurse can't be hard countered by a team who knows exactly how to counter their power (and that is still being generous, i`m pretty sure ANY killer can be hard countered to oblivion
I had a similar experience with The Spirit. I screamed from the heavens about how good she was, and it took op buffs for people to finally realize it
It took op buffs for her to actually become good because of said buffs, you mean?
I just started playing her yesterday and my build has got me 3 full mori games, 1 all hooked game, and 1 game where everyone was on death hook; no sound challenge. My build consistent of dragon's grip, call of brine, nowhere to hide and eruption. The add-ons rickety pinwheel and we'll water. I think she's a very strong killer, but I also only am in silver ranks
He’s such a good onryo, thanks coco and willie for showing her true potential
sadako was such an interesting character when i got back into the game for a lil bit. i can usually tell how a killer i dont know is supposed to play by reading the wiki but after reading sadakos wiki and laying against her i was still confused and she seemed so crazy even though all the tier lists had her at c
"i wanted to see him go all out"

This was a very interesting story about playing as Sadako. Good video Coco!
Nurse with no perks or add-ons: "Look What They Need to Mimic a Fraction of Our Power."
You’re not alone man, I stuck with Sadako no matter how many times ppl kept putting her down
All you have to do is say, "I like onryo", and then everyone and their mother will start an argument with you.
I prefer to just main her and win way more than 50% of my games. Actions speak louder than reddit arguments.
Onryo mains represent!
Quote "you just have to play perfectly"
no different than any other killer
Fuck...even nemi because his power will more reach by then and his zombies will typically begin to choke a gen and hit at least one scattered group,
all of these killers see MASSIVE benefit from this scenario near instantly from this set up.
This was a 25 minute video just so he can say, "I told you so!".
I love it. Great video.
(I even made a Reddit post about such!)
Anyway, good video - keep it up!
This play style is going to become much more difficult if the base-kit Unbreakable update goes through.
I would honestly like to see how he would fare if he went for hooks instead of zipping around the map to condemn. Would be a much different outcome.
Hopefully it doesn't
You killed Mrs. Frizzle how else am i gonna pass the fourth grade.
Youre literally spending bloodpoints every match to not suck. Thats bad game design.
well he did lose every single match against hens squad, and with almost no hooks too because of the playstyle, but yeah she's alright with addons.
@@abitoforangutangu3194 Green addons are a dime a dozen. I can't remember the last time I completely ran out of a green addon.
1:51 Yeah i don’t really think The dbd community was ever really peaceful
That cut to the killer trailer was super smooth! 10/10
Excellent video. You did a great job of clearly explaining a very complicated style of play. Loved it!
"Sadako is good because 1 dude in the world can play her". Check out Otzs' trapper, he is like S-tier.
Hahaha. I was in a game vs Willie and we got destroyed by his Sadako. It's pretty scary, lol.
WAIIIIIT I GOT A CAMEO AT 3:13! Didn't expect this lmao
The game play OnePump showcased was insane and really well played. I picked up on a little bit of things that were happening and even came up with a concept. 10/10 video, I truly enjoy watching and learning about DBD, I wish I could play the game though.
why cant you?
@@Robertdbd20 No money, but such as life
@memphis diplore hero? they're called killers
I enjoyed this video very much!
mate her teleport is like nurse teleport, but BETTER
In due time though Sadako's real strength (or lack thereof) will be revealed with the introduction of unlimited Unbreakable as part of every Survivor's basekit. Willie found an incredibly effective way of playing her, no doubt - but he relies heavily on slugging. I'm curious what he's gonna come up with once basekit Unbreakable is here and his current baseline strat basically goes out the window.
Basekit unbreakable isn't going to come anytime soon, if there's no end game mori there's no point in a basekit unbreakable
@@Paramore_your_Decode you must’ve just started playing dbd or something lol
@@FeaRDirTy There hasn't been any word of it since it got tested on the PTB, and community reactions to it were in general very mixed. It doesn't look like it's coming "soon" by any means.
IF unbreakable becomes basekit. They were using the PTB for what it was made to be used for. Testing out new things and seeing how people would react. Most people don't want basekit unbreakable and BHVR's been listening a lot lately. It's not set in stone that it's gonna happen.
You can hook near TV tho
Thank you for explaining the perks. so many DBD youtubers talk about the perks but not what they actually do!
Its cause Otz told everyone she was C tier, and his pigeons mouthbreathed it all over the community. Noticed he keeps quiet now or waits "until the time is right" to give his Killer Tier List now.
Bro he does a tier list every PTB and new killer release 💀💀 im pretty sure someone with thousands of hours can give a generalised tier to a new killer 💀💀
It feels like a documentary, I loved the format, can't wait to see more videos like this.
She's my top 3 favorite killers to play. I kept telling people she's very good. I won alot of games with her.
ur getting really good at editing man, it’s nice seeing you find a new style.
Sadako always had potential. It was mad annoying to always be told otherwise when they never put in the work to actually learn the character and see how many layers there were to her playstyle.
I just started playing her, I still need the get her ins and outs but... She's lovely, I'm glad I unlocked her💕
She has potential, she's just reliant on 2 crazy strong addons.
@Bizzle Made Still, my point is she is extremely addon reliant because her base kit is pretty bad and she has a worthless system in Codemed.
@Bizzle Made No, i wont. Ill speak how i want and Sadkos base numbers are god awaful. 100 second cooldown per TV, Codemeded doesnt do ANYTHING unless you build for it, and so on.
Hey i was the laurie from close game 2 and i just wanna say he played it very well we did not communicate the 3 gen ofc and i wish we did, because we could’ve beaten the match and if we knew it was onepump we would’ve taken the game way more seriously and maybe be the ones to break his streak but other that it was a good game and he was very kind when we went to say GG’s
I instantly knew she was insane when she came out, I felt really gaslighted when people started calling her a C-tier, and then when the stats showed I was like 💅💋
'Gaslighted' is not the correct term here. Gaslighting is psychological manipulation.
@@nil148 I know what gaslight means. I know it isn't technically correct to use it that way but I also know about urban linguistics and how gaslighting is accepted to mean "When you lie to someone and you make them feel insane because they don’t know what to believe anymore" generally by people of younger generations.

I mean , Myers can just insta kill without downing much quicker with only a single purple addon. Meanwhile with onryo you have to play like a grand chess master to maybe get a full condemn and then a down and then you can kill them.
It's fine that Sadako gets stronger with her add ons. Problem is, like many other killers, there is no counter play to this.
There most certainly is… it’s just not the straightforward counter play that survivors are used. Personally I think that’s a good thing
Once you figure out how to counter her, Sadako becomes one of the easiest killer to go against
@@Mystic0_0 well 1. Not every one does know how to play her optimally and 2. What do You do to counter her?
I cannot believe my boy One Pump Willie is getting featured
@@GenericUserName443 I agree. This playstyle has a lot of conditions to work, and people will start to wisen up.
I don't play the game yet, just watch content on it every so often
Coming back after a few months and seeing all the new heros added is so cool
Love you collabing more with other content creators and this style of video!!
The fact that the Killers with the highest kill rates are all licensed characters shows that this game is P2W.
I don’t know but I love your voice on these documentary type of videos keep it up!
As a Nurse main, I really appreciate Sadako’s existence
As a casual who has faith in my main, I'm happy that there are strong players for her
And everyone thought she was weak..... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
she is 😂
I dont think she is strong or weak, she is pretty balanced imo
I play warhammer40k too. The necrons were considered a weak faction by the community. The problem is that even after numerous buffs the win rate didn't rise. But that was because a lot of bad players or low teams play the more simple necrons competitively. GW kept buffing them. Now they have a 55% win rate overall in competitive play - but in high level play they are insaine! They got a 90-95% win rate if played by top players . . .
Like in DbD the community speaks loud and get heard by the designers - which is not always a good thing.
So just be the best player in the world, and go for an all or nothing playstyle where a single mistake means you get 0 kills. Very good killer.
It's good to listen to the community. It's also good to make good choices and only listen to good ideas from the community. Most ideas are just bad. But the bad ideas might be a seed for a good idea. That style of play actually looks like it might be fun for everyone because no one is out instantly.
