What a beautiful vintage plane Gina. Turned out to be a great flyer! The enthusiasm in your voice for this piece of your modelling history is pure joy to hear. Thanks so much for sharing this experience!
Thank you, Adam! Truly, it's my pleasure to share this. There's not much in this life more pleasurable than a happy walk down Memory Lane... plus I finally found a permanent home for the UMX Cirrus electronics!
A trip down Memory Lane indeed! Kiel Kraft, in the blurb, reckoned that the Eaglet could do 1min 🤔🤣and, as you say, were it Tom Hallman of Max Fli-Art it'd be 3mins.. I constantly used to return to the Eaglet, I think I did three of them in all. I just loved the shapes of the surfaces and cockpit sides. I think The Eaglet was the baby bro of The Competitor. You've ended up with a nice little plane there, well done Gina! 🌟👍
Thank you, William! I can see this becoming a very precious model to me. She still needs a little bit of trimming out, but I'll take that flight as a successful maiden.
I started to build an Eaglet in the mid 90s and never finished it. I had the fuselage structure lying around for quite a while until it somehow got lost. I need to get the plans and try it again, and an RC conversion like yours sees to be an amazing project to close the circle! Thx for sharing and inspiring!
I'm delighted to have provided some inspiration to a prolific builder such as yourself, Sir!! Thanks for your kind comments... and yes, do have another go at the Eaglet. Fate is awaiting you to close that circle in your life... ☺
Splendid flier! I'm sure that was a lot of fun. Congratulations on a successful project! I have a few free flight rubber kits in my stash that would do nicely with this kind of conversion.
Congratulations! a super little plane, you must be really pleased. I am rather envious that you seem to have your own private airfield! I have only recently discovered your RUclips channel. Cheers, Marc
Marc! Thank you so much, Sir! You're right, we are fortunate enough to have this patch to fly on. The next video I'll be posting is an FPV flight to show just how tight the flying space is here. Thank you for watching, and for your kind comments! ☺
Excellent, you should try what I did. Many years ago after building a KK Ajax for my two sons, I thought why not scale it up 200%. The result was such an awesome piece of kit, rudder and elevator plus electric motor. Built in 1999, still flying it now. Flies so well, you could put the transmitter on the ground 😎👍👍👍
Kiitos! I remember that my Günther Zugvogel used to pop its wing off every time it landed. It was designed so that you had to pinch the wing 's leading and trailing edges in the centre of the wing to locate the wire tabs back into the fuselage.
Pretty cool to revive and greatly enhance one of your 1974ish dream machines. I guess you'll have a rather special space in the hanger to store this little queen? Success !!!
Hi! Your Eaglet flies great! I wish my one would be like yours. Today, I printed out the original PDF plan from OZ enlarged to span 70cm. So I will try this size. It sounds like a bit of a gamble, though.
@purcellrcaviationchannel I hear ya Gina, I have my hands full at the moment with the P-47 😆 cog issues.. almost lost it yesterday!! So close.. Be safe, never stop.
Hi Gina, Does rudder make that much difference?😂😂😂😂 Only kidding! Once it was operating in the right direction and you got it trimmed out, it flew rather well! First time I've seen a rubber powered model converted to fly electric but I couldn't see why it would not work. You've done very well. Ok, the landing wasn't pretty, but I think the wind got it and it was just at the wrong place to put it down on its wheels but there's no damage which is the main thing. It's ideal for those very calm mornings and evenings for some relaxing flying which is what you intended it for. I've just got myself A TOP RC late mark Hawker Sea Fury equipped with a 5 blade prop, and interestingly, it has American insignia on it. My other earlier model Hawker Sea Fury has the 4 blade prop with British insignia and that is a Flightline model and flies a treat. I wasn't aware that the USN operated the Sea Fury. Anyhow, a great flight and great conversion. Catch up next video.
@@purcellrcaviationchannel She's electric. Both are, with the TOP RC variant being a bit smaller than the Flightline version. I love my Warbirds.🤗🤗 I've got a TOP RC Trojan and that flies real nice, so I hope the Sea Fury flies the same.
Very nice result with the hybrid powered model. I'll admit to (several) failures to launch, when the servo needed a invert setting. It's very exciting flying, when the model has a mind of its own due to the servo going the wrong wat!
Perhaps try a smaller prop? You obviously dont need the 45 degree climb out - and the resulting torque reaction is not so easy to tame with rudder and dihedral. Once you have the smallest prop that does the job, perhaps swap to a folding one and you will be able to replicate the rubber model experience with a climb followed by glide - repeatedly.

Excellent. Well done, great to see. Thanks for the vid.
Thank you, xjet! My pleasure, Sir!☺
Nice job, ❤❤ Gina, good build and conversion, great duration and flight. Congratulations..
Thank you, Martyn! Seeing it in the air was worth it for the nostalgia alone.

What a lovely conversion and it flies so well, nice one!
Thank you very much, Sir! She flies quite well, but she could fly a fraction better, I reckon, so next time out will see some more trimming out.
Vintage rc "assist" is so much fun I get a great nostalgic thrill flying my old birds.
Well, Mark... I've officially joined that club! It was just pure, nostalgia-powered fun ☺

Just a little darling ❤ I do love the "mature"😊. Always have. This is the Lauren Hutton of aircraft. Peppy puppy she is! Well done Gina 👍👍👍
Thank you, Dale! Mature... like an old cheese 🧀
@@purcellrcaviationchannel I was thinking a Chardonnay....but cheese is just as good. Another masterpiece 👏
Not cheesy but enjoyable for the builder to fly their modified creation. Looks great Gina, nice video.
AirHammer out!!
Thank you, AH! I hope all's well with yourself.
Gina fantastic build and maiden. Jeff in LA USA
Thank you, Jeff! I hope all's well with you and yours.
I can ‘see thru’ this aircraft Gina, but not the pilots!
Wonderful flight indeed & so innovative!🥇
Haha! Thanks, Noel! 😁😁😁

Hello Nigel! Sounds like you have an RC flying friend for life with your XXXL Ajax! Well played, Sir!
Magic on nice balmy evening, lovely flight Ginac😎
Thanks Bob! Hopefully we may get the last of those before the end of the month.
I am speechless! I probably also had a similar Gunther ....... plane. You proved that all dreams can be realized. Absolutely impressive!🌝

Wow so cool, I love it.
Thanks very much, TNS! It was certainly a lot of fun putting it together... that it flies is the cherry on top

Thank you, Cap'n!
@purcellrcaviationchannel I actually just got a glider free just need to pick up a motor for it.

That Sea Fury sounds like it'll be a real *beast* of a thing. Electric, or IC powered?

Thank you, Jo! Yep... can't edit the idiocy out of my vids! It's always all there, the good and the bad 😄
What motor is in there Gina? Geared?
Hi Lauren! The motor is the stock E-flite UMX 3600kv item that came in my UMX Cirrus from a few years ago.
Bearings sound a bit iffy.
😄 Probably a broken reverse threaded spanger valve, too... 🤔🤔😄😄

Better check the flugelhorns too!

Interesting and well-reasoned suggestions, Richard, as always! ☺
