The field in the park was developed into a frisbee golf course and the soccer fields were moved to this new spot. Wonderful morning, plenty of space, and light active air.
I built this model, my first, 55 years ago. It flew beautifully on its maiden flight- perfect balance! Then it caught a thermal, rose up to a hundred feet, and I watched dissappear into the blue yonder. Devastated! Time to get the tools out! 😃
I remember one summers evening in the 1980s when we had this trimmed perfectly and you could walk under it for what seemed like forever. We had extra lightweight tissue and had shaved every bit of weight we could. It flew so well. Happy days.
We built a super wing with an extra section and ultra thin sheeted leading edge. It flew ever so slightly better, but the original was hard to improve on. I'd love to build one today.
Hi, Cliff. I finally settled on 25' of 1/16" tan and 75' of 10# monofiliment. I have some "spider wire" I'm going to replace the monofiliment with just to be cool.
My Dolphin moments were in 1964. Used to hand-launch mine off Ivinghoe Beacon. The soundtrack to those reminiscences was The Four Seasons' "Rag Doll".
Beautiful model, still on my to do list.

This was my first-ever towline glider and has survived my fumbling with the hi-start. Who knew how much fun this was?
Thanks for watching.
I built mine around 65 years ago - same result!🤥

Some wonderful flights...... Free flight has always been my passion. Hard to see... Was it a peregrine?
