Thanks for the videos. Typically for the rest room I hop on one leg. I try not to overexert myself, and I also ice. Hope your PT goes well. I'm 3 weeks from my surgery today!
I tend to use the hopping method a lot during the day. I'm just so drowsy at night that my balance isn't all there so I worry about tripping and falling. I think the first 3 weeks were the most difficult and it just gets better from there. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
MRI update from Tuesday, Achilles Rupture has closed up and now into a shoe. Pretty Impressive for going Nonsurgical... Standing and Walking now, slowly but still waking which is a blessing🙏compered to a full Achilles Tendon Rupture on Feb 5th. Tomorrow Monday, marks my 3 months since the injury. Hopefully yours is coming along well, and to fully walking 💯 this Summer 🌞!
That’s such great news! 🙌 I started walking a little bit without my crutches last week. I’ll admit that my walk was not pretty. I was walking around like a newborn giraffe 😂 This week, I’m able to walk around fairly fast and comfortably without crutches(just in boot). I’m so surprised by how fast I was able to progress. If someone told me 2 weeks ago that I’d be able to walk so well without crutches today, I probably wouldn’t have believed them. I’m so happy to hear about your progress. Cheers to you!
@@sunshinegirlvlog thank You! Yea, I'm surprised by how it's coming along too! I agree, the walk isn't all that' but, We are Walking Again(: & Cheer's🥂 to you without crutches 🩼🩼 and I , well sorta walking in a shoe with a limp, Not complaining tho!(: I'll take it. Now I'm about to do my ROMs again.
Oh lucky you! Sounds like you’re progressing faster than me! I wasn’t given the green light to start PT until Week 7. I’m currently on Week 9 and can see that the PT exercises are helping improve my range of movement. Good luck on your recovery!
I am on week 5 and saw your video. Thanks for sharing and it helps me understand what to expect in next few weeks. Btw nice Porsche 911. Look like 70s ?
@@sunshinegirlvlog 70s 911 is my all time favorite car! I am lucky is my left Achille so I can still drive auto. But I can’t wait to drive my manual cars once I am out of the boot.
@@ac011 I wish it was my left foot, it would have made everything so much easier 😅I'm nearly 6 months out and was sort of expecting to be further along but am still experiencing stiffness along my achilles and can't heel raise on just my right foot. I guess I just have to give it more time...
Everyone is different. I won’t worry much as long as you have improvement week by week. I am at the end of week 5 and can finally remove the last wedge from my boot! Wish you the best of luck and can return to the sports you love!
Yes, my crutches make a small click sound whenever I press down on it. I can get around faster than regular walking speed when non-weight bearing on crutches because I can swing my body. Now that I’m at 50% weight bearing, I would say that I’m about the same and maybe slightly slower than regular walking speed
@@wadehamlin Using crutches start to hurt your under arms after a prolonged time. The crutch pads definitely help with that. I show the ones that I use in the video before this(Weeks 1-3) at timestamp 11:45. Amazon link is in the description of that video. I’ll try to include a clip of me walking at 50% weight bearing in next video. In general, I tend to be a fast walker so me walking at 50% weight bearing is probably equivalent to a normal walking speed for most people
Im on week 3 - I was wondering if you're able to perform a thompson test? Even after surgery it doesnt seem to plantar flex when calf is squeezed, curious to see if this is normal due to atrophy.
Hmm, I do observe plantar flexion when performing the Thompson test. However, I’m now on week 7 so I’m further along than you. Maybe give it a little more time
@@yiwenjong My room is on the second floor so it wouldn’t have been convenient to carry the scooter up and down the stairs. But that definitely sounds like the best solution!
I am a 69 years old female live alone in the East Coast, originally from Taiwan, (saw you did zonz with your grandma), have been praying pickleball over a year, 3 times per week, got my Achilles tendon ruptured on July 6. Took the non operation route. I was put on a cast for 3 weeks, just changed to boots with wadges. I bought two knee scooters, one on each floor. I started partial weight bearing on my right foot this week. This is my first injury in my life, but gradually feeling encouraged by watching many youtubers like you went through their long journeys of recovery. I hope I can getting better soon, although with my age, probably my progress will be slower. I probably will not play pickleball again, but I will continue swim and go to gym regularly. Thanks for your videos, best wishes.
@@yiwenjong This is my first injury as well. I’m not sure if I will return to playing pickleball ever again either. It’s a fun sport but the sudden movements can cause injury. It’s now 5 months after surgery for me and I still am not walking completely normal. My Achilles feels stiff and uncomfortable whenever I start walking after staying still for awhile. It needs some time to warm up before I can start walking normally. I wish you well on your recovery. Give yourself time to rest and be careful not to push yourself too hard, especially during these first few months. Wishing you a smooth recovery!❤️🩹
Thanks for sharing, I have the same injury now. I ruptured my Achilles tendon on Thursday playing soccer. They mentioned to me that surgery and natural recovery usually have similar results so my foot is in a cast/splint now 🥲
Sorry to hear about your rupture! Is yours a partial or full rupture? The cast/splint isn’t the most comfortable, luckily you’ll be out of it and into a boot in a few short weeks
@@sunshinegirlvlogalso a full rupture. I didn’t get a scan or anything like that. They were just able to feel it from the muscle. I’m in Europe (Netherlands) btw, so maybe they lean toward less surgery here 😅
