Electricity, or electrons, move very slow, like snell speed , it is thought of as fast, because the electron from the source is added to the wire at one end , knocking off the electron from the atom, carrying on a chain reaction, moving. When the first in added, the last one is knocked off the other end. The electrons are leap frogging down the wire.

Behavioural evolution would seem to suggest that our personalities are traits created to optimise chances of breeding and nothing more almost every thing a person thinks or feels or every way they behave can be traced back to an evolutionary purpose which would leave you no depth or meaning to a person's "self" and that we are here to help the universe disperse its energy

The explanation makes sense about readiness potential. Think about it: you go for a walk. You are consciously aware of the fact that you’re walking and recognize what muscles you need to be moving, so the readiness potential for moving muscles associated with walking would be naturally high as your brain predicts you to continue walking so long as nothing externally has changed. I.e: reaching your destination, stopping at a crosswalk. After stopping, your brain still takes in the information that you’ve stopped but the decision to walk after you get the green is there which keeps the readiness potential high.
It’s like visually and mentally telling your own brain your intentions, then your brain fires commands to the associated muscles to not only ensure they’re working, but to make sure they will be able to move assuming you go through with the decision to move said muscle. If you move, then you move and the readiness potential wasn’t wasted. If you don’t, it was wasted and goes back down so long as you don’t anticipate moving.
Of course I may have gotten something wrong, but this is how I see it and break it down for my own understanding. So many more things happen than just deciding to move your arm. It’s taking in your health, situation, comfort, job, desire, intent, environment. The human brain is truly a marvel of nature, and I’d be damned if we found anything equally as interesting in my life time and generations after.

Maybe consciousness comes from a quantum field, and that's how the time-reversal for the subconscious works. Maybe consciousness is universal and the body just adds another level of experience (for example, the consciousness of a plant vs the consciousness of an animal with eyes and ears and feet to run). Still, even without using eyes or ears, sight and sound can still be experienced mentally (through dreams for example).

    • @xunil8474
      @xunil8474 4 года назад +4

Consciousness is the product of chemical and electrical reactions in ur head that means everything we will ever think do or want is predetermined by the laws of physics wich means true free will doesnt exist and we are bound to the laws of physics. The only way for free will to truly exist is by a object that's outside the laws of physics to exist. What that means is that if 1 object isn't predictable with all known and unknown laws of physics. There is one random factor wich makes al interactions with the object random wich means if a chain reaction that originated from that one object collide with a person it will create free will because it is predetermined by the laws of physics.

    • @entropy8902

Dude quantum fields are way too small and unpredictable as anything possible should theoretically repeat itself infinite times in an infinitely small unit of time, but they get cancelled out by their inverses
According to Bosonic and Super String Theory within their respective dimensions of the universe, the vibrations of each quantum quark will get larger over time with lesser intensity if particles transform into waves
So quantum particles won’t end up significantly affecting anything of a larger scale, especially with the exponential difference between the mass of electrons and quarks giving their vibrations negligible effect
It’s only the probability of delayed choice and quantum entanglement which is higher because of the incredibly low mass of neuron synapses, but that probability too is negligible

      Allah said ,
" Allah created you and your actions " ( Quran , Sura saffat : 96)
But Quran also admits free will,
"And you do not will (anything) unless (it be) that Allāh wills, the Lord of all worlds " (Quran , Sura Takwir : 29)

We also can't confirm that our brain originates the signal, it might just be a wireless transmitter that is actually controlled by something elsewhere (even in a dimension that we can't directly interact with).
The idea that the subconscious responds first is consistent with our understanding of reflexes, addiction, etc. But that doesn't mean the conscious self is not in control, rather it takes longer for the conscious self to process information and so sometimes the subconscious has to make decisions for us. But the subconscious receives its training from the consciousness (kind of like in the movie 'Click'). That's why the consciousness can cancel an action designated by the subconscious, but it seems to a brainscan that the choice appeared before somebody made the decision. We can think of it like the subconscious is a pre-trained program and the conscious self is simply making corrections and adjustments. After all, our consciousness isn't very good at multitasking, can we really expect it to focus on all of the millions of little interactions that our body has to do in each moment?
So does that mean the subconscious isn't us? No, we would still say that the subconscious is us, just it is the culmination of our past decisions. And sometimes we receive new information that might change how we react to a given situation. Then the subconscious must be retrained. If the pattern was repeated many times in the past, it may be hard to retrain the subconscious. That's why habits and addictions exist.

LATERALIZED READINESS POTENTIAL! I studied this years ago! I thought it would be neat to find a way to intercept that signal in order to training prosthetics to move more naturally by using it as the signal for motor control. Its interesting because of the idea of being able to move information from one hemisphere of the brain to the other! But when you look at studies where the connective tissue was severed between the two hemispheres of the brains there is no loss of motor function, but you can do a test to give a command to one half of the users body to pick up an object and the conscious brain will actually INVENT a reason why it did that. Its a fascinating rabbit hole.

When a bug moves very fast towards your eye and you (your consciousness) have no idea about it but the brain sends a signal to the eyelid to close as to avoid bug colliding the eye causing damage. The consciousness only comes to know about the bug only after the bug has hit your eyelid. Most of us should have experienced similar kinds of stuff. Your explanation is kind of answering this phenomenon (reflex action).

@The Action Lab ik that 5 years have passed, but please, read this comment :)
I'm not a scientist and i'm not that good in English but we were learning this theme in university, so i'll try to explain what's going on while adding my own thoughts and experience about that.
SC stands for sub-consciousness because of how complicate this word is, and so CON for consciousness.
    1) How many morotical parts are:
We have at least 2 parts of motorical nervous system - one in head and another in spine and in addition to that single nerve cells seemingly also makes emergency decisions on their own.
Example: touching something very hot or cold will cause autodetaching it before you can even feel the pain in your head, and it's not caused by tugging nerves overall but it's more like a decision, which takes extremely short time to activate muscles in certain location, i.e. arm. Your brain is able to temporary block nerves free will like a president or even like a boss.
    2) What is supreme, SC or CON:
Getting electrical charge caused by SC before acting is not pre-action by itself, it's more like a suggestion, what to do, and after that you releasing charge in case CON accepting this suggestion. And also you may "relax" CON by letting SC to control a body on it's own. This is how training works and how common actions happens, like walking, running, eating, etc., etc. - up to any action from simple singular moves to complicated combinations. And if you not relaxing CON, thus not skipping the entire part of moving, overall actions happens slower, and if you skipping this part, they goes way faster, what makes training that much important.
So CON is supreme, while SC is both an advisor and a executor IF CON let it to execute.
    3) Readiness potential is stacked electrical potential just like in accumulator. It can be caused by SC, as said above, and also can caused by CON. So this uncomfortable feeling like you getting stroke by some volts when you want to do something and still not doing that for some time is actually getting stroke by some volts, when that accumulator gets overcharges and somewhat leaks. This is also why it's uncomfortable to just cancel planned action - all prepared charge gets simply released in all directions, which is not enough to cause any muscle to move but still gets picked up by neurons as some discomfort.
I hope this have answered on all questions :) i was used to re-watch video to recall what i was going to explain :)

I know its about a year too late. Yes you can. When i hurt my leg, they used electrical impulses to keep my leg muscles strong which simulated me walking on it. My leg was in a fixed position for a long time and when my brace came off it was like i never had an issue. I suspect there are limitations though on how much u can do by the voltage limits we can take. It be interesting to know how much muscle.

During meditation I have insight that does experience was mostly "an afterthought" with actual doing was handled by specialized parts of mind. When this is understood and can be analyzed in real-time it enables you to optimize yourself to not have to create this story at all and just see your mind doing stuff as it happens and see it for what it is. This is beneficial because it allows you to focus on actual inner-workings of brain and OUN rather than creating story thus optimize yourself better and/or simply work on making the experience of it all itself better.

I loved the ending explanation about consciousness. I always wondered if humans could ever create conscious AI that had feelings and experience. To me, it made perfect sense. Humans experience emotions through chemical reactions and such, so it made sense to me that we could just do the same thing with 1s and 0s. But something about this always felt wrong to my religious half. If humans could just so easily create consciousness, how are our atoms any more special then a pile of rocks? Would we truly have free will, or are all of our decisions predetermined through chemical reactions and science? The topic has always made me feel uneasy. But with your explanation about how we have yet to fully understand consciousness, it makes me feel a lot better about the topic.
