Kia ora - Love this!! I'm recommending to all my Gf's here in Aotearoa and over in Oz, I hope to see you here one day - I'm very confident it would go off over here!! (City Fitness Gyms are a big chain over here that follow an american based workout system) (You have inspired me to create a session from your vid clips to help me and my mummy friends.) Thank you!
I grew up doing this for my family's well being and livelihood. Not only me, but my whole family. Capitalizing on our dancing (even though it's white washed) takes away from real Polynesian cultures (Tongans, Samoans, Tahitian, Fijians and more) if you teach, teach the correct way. It's one thing to let our heritage be showcased, it's another to show case something that is not our heritage, but is alluring to others. I was 12 years old and told I was "sexy" by Americans. This shouldn't be something I had to deal with. Our dances tells stories. Our dances do not sell sex.
Anna Rita you make it look so easy. I love this video.
I always come back to watch this video...perhaps because the guys Haka adds to those Hips smiling away.
I'm loving HOT HULA fitness and have excellent mentors (Nefertiti & Bethel). I'm looking forward to attending the masters class next month in Jersey.
